  1. spotted a black facelift rolla with aftermarket taillights, rear skirt and chrome wheels at Fairfield on Hamilton Rd turning onto the Cumberland Hwy at around 6:30pm. it was a chick driver plates start with "OT" anyone from here?
  2. Hmm. he's in Lidcombe (not too far from me) I might drop by there this weekend.
  3. I'm just a little bit pink on the back of my neck and my driving arm (aka right) hahaha. I got the same. don't worry - it's the sign of a real driver! LOL
  4. I took some photos. I'll post them up once i get them off the camera. Too lazy to do it at the moment.
  5. there was another black pre-face lift that came on the cruise. he had his gf and a couple of mates with him in the car too. is he a member here?
  6. nah. it's just that i got stuck on a hill with a whole line of traffic behind me. the van just couldn't grab enough traction to get moving. bl00dy embarrassing. LOL
  7. Just got back. Awesome cruise... The weather was great (read: got sunburn on my right arm) LOL
  8. If only the Tarago i hired to take to Port Stephens had traction control. We had a full van-load and on a hill, the auto kept spinning the wheels while trying to take off from the lights...it wasn't a fun drive.
  9. OMG! The guy literally blew that engine's head off. :P
  10. hhehee. the guy sounds more like a clumpsy nood. One of my friends who drove a ST162 celica when I also owned mine set his car on fire after he replaced the fuel filter but did a dodgy job. The fuel that either leaked out either from dodgy work or from when the filter was out caught fire and...well...bye bye ST162 SX. what a waste of a 3SGE. One engine failure is dodgy, three engine failures on three seperate engines when everyone on this board is still running their original motor is quite suspect. I think it's a case of PEBSWAS (Problem exists between steering wheel and seat) plus i think you'd find that ppl tend to exaggerate stories of mechanical failure. The only way to make yourself feel better after your engine blows is to make it sound spectacular. LOL
  11. the vacuum lines that plug into the stock airbox control the flap at the bottom of it. I'm not entirely sure when the flap opens. I suspect i opens to allow better airflow when the engine is revving e.g when in "Lift"
  12. the VSV (or vacuum sensing valve) is used to control a flap at the bottom of the stock 2ZZ airbox. I'm not entirely sure but i think the flap opens under "lift" to allow more air to flow into the engine. and yes, if you ever want to take the CAI out and reinstall the stock airbox, you will need it.
  13. I think xPloshun is responsible for CAI's to half the members on this forum. hehehe. Xploshun for president!
  14. just a note: the 2ZZ engines only take iridium plugs. If you check your service manual, they only need to be changed at 80,000km, 120,000km...etc. don't worry too much about brands. the things to look out for are appropriate heat rating and proper gapping. This article is a good reference to plug heat ratings (it's about bike engines but still relevant) http://www.strappe.com/plugs.html and here is a better and shorter article about gapping and heat ratings http://www.centuryperformance.com/spark.asp

    1986 ST162

They look like the ones from the 5th Gen celica. The original wheels for the 4th gen where 13" alloys. Here is a link to pics of my old ST182 coupe http://www.toyotacelicaonline.com/141crypto.htm
  16. They'd need to be bloody hot to work Carbon-fibre is a really soft-wearing material. It will last you a total of 2 applications on the brake pedal. LOL I think he means Carbon-Ceramic. You also need special rotors to work with them. These brakes don't work at all when they're cold. Where on earth can you get carbon-ceramic brakes for a corolla anyway!? LOL
  17. dude. you remind me of another member (Buri_*something or another*). drifting with a front wheel drive car? are you sure you don't mean plow-understeer? LOL my advice to you is; learn to use punctuation and think about what you are typing before you press "Add Reply" 'cause i can sense that you are an inch away from getting flamed
  18. I ran out of breath half way through reading that.
  19. The 1zz and 2zz's use the same kit. However, the rubber hose that connected the intake tube to the throttle body is made for the 2ZZ TB i.e the diameter is different. You can still fit it but the hose clamp will end up squeezing the rubber hose down to fit.
  20. if you can smell fuel, that is not a good thing. have you checked the hoses to and from the charcoal canister? even if you didn't cover the "appendage" on the CAI, it is pre-sensor so it wouldn't be unmetered air (it would be unfiltered air though) so it wouldn't stuff up your fuel mappings.

    1986 ST162

cool. Nice. My first car was an ST162. I had the ST which had the 3SFE engine. First thing you should do is change the oil and spark plugs. just to give yourself a good baseline so you know how the engine runs. they are pretty reliable cars but you may need to replace things such as clutch slave cynlinders, rear main seals (do the clutch while the gearbox is out), water pump, thermostat, starter motor, and maybe a few more wear-and-tear bits. you'll only need to replace them when/if they're broken though. The 2nd gear synchro should be the last thing to replace if you're on a budget. some nicely time double clutching and Heal-and-toe should avoid the crunching for a while. anyway, have fun with the celica.
  22. at first she was spinning anti-clockwise. it took me about 30seconds to get her to appear to spin the other way....it took me ages to get her to appear to sping anti-clockwise again though. hehehe. concentrate on her legs and try and picture the pretruding leg either swinging in-front or behind the vertical leg to get her to change directions.
