  1. I don't get these noobs. They sign up ask some question and if no one replies within 2days, they get mad and say they'll never return. really gets up my nose. Also, Shamus19, you didn't really ask valid question: Sure Shamus, go back to your toyota dealer, tell them Qkslvr sent you and demand a new car. I really feel for you about the busted clutch. Have you considered the root of the problem may not be the clutch but some other component? Have you asked the mechs at Toyota what the problem is and how it can be prevented? I'd say take it to another dealership for a second oponion. At the end of the day, the mechs don't care so you're going to have to be persistant and a little pushy. Good luck sorting out your New Yaris woes.
  2. yeah. My first thought was that I hope it wasn't somone from this forum.
  3. Here you go: it was in the "workshop submissions section". There's other cool stuff there too. http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...l=clutch+adjust
  4. I dunno man! I drive the sportivo and love it to death but i still reakon it would be sexier as a 2door coupe. hehehe
  5. Hey Pete. You reckon those MPS3 leather seats will fit into the Sportivo? I'm sick of the squeeks and rattles from the standard sportivo seats.
  6. Yeah. I guess the Subi market research guys finally realised why insurance premiums for their beloved WRX range was so high :whistling: . It must have hurt sales for the other market segment (the one you mentioned). oh well. only time will tell if subi brings the goods with the STI.
  7. source? this sounds like juicy news :yahoo:
  8. It aint' pretty. That's faw shaw. lol. it's got the Mazda SP23 profile with 07 Civic Type R tail lights. I'm sure it will look nicer in the flesh. It's taken design ques from the new Forester.
  9. Pete. NOOOoooooooo. You've defected to the other side. heheheh just kidding. Nice car. geez, you must love red cars. hehehe. Have fun with it man. Wasn't there a recall for the transmission-side engine mount? make sure it's been done. congrats on the new ride.
  10. I finally saw your orange rolla in the flesh man. It's bl00dy clean =) Nice work.
  11. You can give it all the bogan jokes you want but I'd gladly take it. *edited: Do what you like man =) the only place i would drive a ute is in a dodgy part of Asia where I can have passengers in the back. hehehe
  12. Ooooh. the Bogan SS has gone all high tech. =) "Evolution ends here". does that mean there will be no more after this?
  13. No. not all coilovers come with them. some come with camber adjustments when the knuckle bolts to the strut. Having the adjustment on the top just makes dialing in camber easier. lowering our strut type suspension doesn't change the camber much at all. You'll find that it's only double wishbone sus that get huge camber change when lowering e.g EK civics, Holden Como's ...etc I'd much prefer camber set for normal tyre wear. You adjust your camber according to how your suspension geometry changes (or doesn't change) as you corner hard on the track. for street, you'll never see the need for huge neg camber.
  14. the suspension top is the ball pillow mount. the stock ones are fine unless you want strut top camber adjustability (and some bling factor)
  15. Google'd your question and found these articles: http://www.camryforums.com/m_5170/tm.htm http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/archive/topic/37831-1.html http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/t640069.html The three articles above state that the 1MZ-FE engine is non-inteference. Do a google search on "1mzfe inteference engine" should bring up the same links. so drive on! when the belt breaks, the worst that will happen is that you have to sit with a smelly tow-truck driver.
  16. ...and to bring things back on topic...I have no problems landing lift 1st - 2nd. I'm not sure about all the gear ratio maths, but i'm not making any calculations from the time my left foot hits that clutch pedal, to the time my left hand rips 2nds gear and i manage to shirp my sh!tty tyres.
  17. Nice coverage of the event, PuzzleMan. I like your closeup shots of the engine parts. =)
  18. i don't think the argument is about whether it's possible in reality. we know it's possible to stay in lift after the 1-2 upchange. i think the point is that you shouldn't have to slip the clutch or perform any super fast super fancy slick shift to stay in the powerband, just like in the typeR. and also if u have to slip the clutch on the upshift then u're not transferring all the power to the ground, blah blah blah, but still, we know that staying in lift gives u that much more speed after the upchange. so yeah the point in contention is if toyota makes the hi-cam zone so narrow, why isn't the gearing matched any better so that all u only need to do is a decent brisk upshift to stay in the powerband. and if toyota matched better gearing, wouldn't it make the stivo nicer to drive? :) ... or maybe a wider hi-cam zone :P btw, where's that boost gauge video!! Unless you're talking matching a CVT with the 2ZZ-GE the gearing will always be a compromise. Lets get this straight, we are not arguing about gear ratios but rather how close the ratios of consecutive gears are. that is what keeps you in the power band on upshifts once you get there. If you want the gearing any closer, you'll probably need an 8speed tranny. LOL a 1.8ltr hi revving engine (tuned for top end) is always going to have a narrow power band no matter how many CAI's you put on it. You can't widen the power band by simply making lift kick in earlier, as the engagement point is a biproduct of how much air the pistons can suck into the engine - and being a 1.8, that's not much (hence the high revs needed). Forced induction (as with Bill) or bigger displacement (stroker kit) are the only solutions. So with that said, i thik Toyota have done the best they can with the powerband and the gearing for street/highway drivability.
  19. it was a pretty cool show. i rocked up around 2pm and caught up with Bill and Dylan. Full credit to the Toymod guys for organising such a great event. is that a pic of the TRD Aurion i saw there, Bill? Too bad a missed it =(
  20. Yep. Definitely sounds like your shocks are gone buddy.
  21. nah dude. I don't know where you get your info from. but the only thing that will cause a vibration when the car is moving is from any of the unsprung moving parts. i.e drive shaft, wheel bearings, damaged knuckle, wheel hub, brake rotor, and wheel. other than that, you won't get a vibration from a wheel not pointing straight. Not true. Please explain.
  22. yep! Sway bar/anti-roll bar will do the trick. try getting a rear sway bar first. The strut brace is there to stiffen the chassis to help with responsiveness and turn-in. it's does next to nothing for body roll.
  23. that's expensive when considering a used 350Z in reasonable condition would cost you $45K - on road. besides the fancy LCD screen and the novelty of having an eletric motor, you're really paying for the "green image". The fuel saving is not that far from a deisel engine car.
