  1. the best advice i can give you is do some research rather than just buying a "brand". i.e forged vs cast, light-weight vs whatever. research the rims you want and make sure you get what you pay for instead of just jumping on a band wagon and purchasing something just because they where marketed better...those are the same guys who try to convince you to buy $800 jeans because they are better than your $100-200 jeans which in turn is better than your just jeans $80 special. Marketing is a crock! do your homework and you can't go wrong. p.s One of the reasons you would need racing rims is because they have a better quality control process i.e each rim has the same weight, rolling-radius, balance...etc.
  2. "Boy Racer" that's the term I was looking for. Yeah...We've gone the weekend track warrior route with our cars here. so it's nice to see something different. However, i like my boy racer/ricer look! it makes up for all the matchbox cars my dad didn't buy me when i was a little kit. hahaha is those pics taken at Ozzytyres at Hoxton Park? I got my car lowered there. Beside them forgetting to clip my boot trim back in properly, they did a decent job. I got custom coils and the drop was spot on to how i wanted it. You should come to the next meet, It would be cool to check out the car in the flesh.
  3. Nice dude! It's cool to see something different for a change. Nice to see the rolla rolling on 20's. that should settle some recent discussion about max wheel size.
  4. Well I had VL, VR, VS Commodores then an AU falcon that got traded on an Aurion! maybe i am a yobbo? Don't know, I've never met you before. That's quite an unimpressive list of cars you've got there...the signs don't look good. hahahaha. No offence mate, just having a chuckle at the quote.
  5. Nevermind. I missed the part of KT's instructions about there being 3 red/black wires. I only found 2 at first and they both where the wrong ones (what are the odds). anyway, third time lucky, i found the wire and all is working now.
  6. There seems to be a problem with the instructions for the rear left door sill. All the others turn off when you press the door sensor and lock the car except the rear left. there are two red/black wires (one is actually red/dark grey)...I've tried splicing into both and the door sill seems to stay illuminated even when the door sensor is pressed and the car is locked. anyone else experience this?
  7. Yep. You get two black master keys with the central locking remote buttons, the a third (grey) valet key. You should also have a small metal tag with an ID number on it. You use that to order extra keys from toyota. And to the person with the RAV4 who said they can just bypass the stock imobiliser and put an aftermaket in, our cars have the imobilser built into the ECU. This means the car will not run unless you have the key to electronically unlock the ECU.
  8. "The [Ford and Holden] tribalists will not contemplate another brand as they aspire to own the latest version of the car their fathers drove," Mr Buttner said. "We believe this car will appeal to a more sophisticated buyer." Glenn Butler, drive.com.au, 22/08/07 hahaha. i like this roundabout way of saying that Falcon and Comodore drivers are yobos! hahaha
  9. Awesome ride dude. Has the Candy-apple red spyder had the same 2ZZ treatment?
  10. I'd say the mech rotated your wheels and forgot. Most of the time the guy at the service desk doesn't know what the technician has done. hell, most of the time the technician forgets what he's done as soon as the car leaves the hoist.
  11. Hmmm. I just came accross this engine movement damper from C-ONE. designed to eliminate the jolt from the engine when giving sharp throttle inputs or when coming off the throttle abruptly. Also, some nice "bling" for the engine bay. www.c-one.co.jp/C-ONEPARTS/eg_damper.html
  12. Picked mine up from Mish's place last night! I can't wait to install them. Thanks Mish for organising this G/B.
  13. reading all this makes my blood boil! this thread is yet another fine example of over policing and stupid policy in places that do not need it. I can't help but think there is some old twaty nerd that hates cars and the modified car scene putting all these laws in place...We'll all be driving stock commodores soon!
  14. This article explains alignment terminology. http://home.scarlet.be/~be067749/58/c3/index.htm
  15. that's just scary. It would be intersting to know the speed of the car prior to impact - coz that was alot of damage.
  16. what are your guys thoughts Castrol Magnetic? that's what I've been using. it seems everyone is using a thinner oil.
  17. Mine burns through roughly a quart every 10,000km. I didn't top up the oil a few times between services and the oil read "low" on the dip stick.
  18. The code for your stereo if still stock should be the LAST 3 digits of your VIN number. Yeah i tried that this morning and it worked..:D As for the high pitched noise....i think im gonna have to look into that and fix the problem...im assuming its just a loose clip connection... Ok so the lights are all suppose to turn on when the driver sides on... NO Problem! :D yep. it connects to the dome light circuit which comes on regardless of which door is open.
  19. I just read in the paper that a Corolla and some other car got impounded by the police for drag racing. no one on this forum i hope. To bring things back on track. My gripe is not with the police or policing of the streets. My gripe is with the way it's all being played out i.e The "war on hoons". it's created a moral high-ground for everyone one to stand on and point and name-call. As i always maintain - only a special kind of liar can always stay within the speed limit. I agree that racing at double the speed limit is stupid. 120 in a 60zone is silly. 80 in a 40zone? Hmmm...who's guilty of that? (rhetorical question. please don't answer) at the end of the day, speed and safe driving are/should/have always been a question of common sense. Those who don't possess it deserver what they get. However, I dread the day the whole issue becomes one of those an@lly-taboo subjects just because we've been conditioned to react in that fashion.
  20. Yeah. One of the members here learnt first hand that even 500rpm over the rev limit can throw a rod. engine strain increases exponentially so even at 9,000 rpm, your engine is tons more stressed than at 8,200rpm.
  21. I disagree, Dylan. Ruling with an "iron-fist" never solved any problems I'm aware of. Unless there is a cop on every street and back alley in NSW, I don't think that is the answer either.
  22. ABC News - http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2007/07/30/1991383.htm This further illustrates my point. They were commos. Most likely, none of them on their P's due to the new power/weight ratio restrictions for P platers. Yet this sort of shyte still happens. You really must wonder if all the new restrictions have done anything to prevent deadly car accidents. I don't expect the authorities that govern our right to drive to get it right every time. But I do expect them to not just legislate for the sake of appearing to solve a problem they seemingly can't solve.
