  1. hey dude. I noticed in your gallery that you've got some cross drilled rotors...and I love the sticker you have on the guard LOL lambo scissor doors look funny on a 4 door car imo. If you're going to "pimp'd cruiser" look then less-is-more. get a nice paint job before you commit to interior vinyl so that you have a better idea of the colour theme. Here is a couple of links to some other members who have taken the "pimp my ride" philosophy =) Scissor door corolla Candy Apple Red Rolla
  2. I think the first item on your "wants" list should be the ECU. Since you've bored out the engine to 2.4Ltr, the extra 200cc would be put to better use if it was tuned for it. where you go from there depends if you want a "torquey" or "Peaky" engine. You've got the 5S-Fe engine right? I know you said you wanted to keep it n/a but check this out: http://www.angelfire.com/pro/dsm2wrx/Project_Turbo_5sfe.htm This guys turbo'd his 5S-fe powred MR2
  3. Dude, there's no use having a cry if no one can help you. Your rant just made you sound like a spoilt brat who throws a tantrum when he doesn't get what he wants. We don't know everything in this forum and there's no where on this site that states otherwhise. If i had the particular part you're after sitting my garage, i'm sure i would have responded. (where's ignition X when you need him hehehe). I have gotten alot out of this forum in terms of technical info and I have also made a few friends; so when you start bagging out this forum you will inevitably upset a few people - go figure right?!
  4. yeah. that's slack. at least he was having a go and took it to the strip instead of doing it on the street. I put it down to inexperience. I've seen a video of a Corvette doing the same thing. now imagine if he lost it launching off the street. driving 10/10th on the street is a death wish.
  5. I've got the problem on my car. everything is fine until ~130+. I was hoping a wheel balance would correct it. Hmmm are you sure they balanced it for those speeds. does anyone know what road speeds the wheel balancing machine simulates?
  6. Oh trust me I know that, Merewether High students have some of the highest rates of depression in the state. Fortunately, I managed to avoid that. I also stopped being naive in year 8 (one of my best moves, in hindsight), which greatly altered my outlook on things If you're implying that i'm naive, then you're right. It must be a public school-boy trait =) From the sounds of things, you have a personal story attached to the passage in question. why don't you share so as others will not be suckered into believing that which you are so strongly against? (Instead of just patronising all those that comment on this thread)
  7. wow. I didn't realise this was such a touchy subject. I honestly have never heard of this before and I seriously had no problems reading the passage. btw, being accepted into an academicly selective high school means you're good at passing exams... you should know by now that this has no bearing on ones ability to handle life's challenges that don't involve "study, remember, regurgitate". And yes, i am a public school rascal so there's no need to ask. =)
  8. Are there any issues getting brakes-upgrades through engineering? Coz, in case of an accident, the insurance company may crucify you if you don't have an engineers certicate.
  9. If you have 17" wheels, my guess is that you have 40profile tyres - trying dropping the tyre pressure down by 5psi up front and 8psi at the back. Yes, and slow down! You could also try thicker sway bars front and rear, that will keep the car more level in the cornings to help it maintain suspension geometry. Besides that, i can't really comment because i don't know your driving style. Unless you're willing to shell out another 20K for a 350Z, you're going to have to adjust your driving style to suit the rolla.
  10. It's funny because the defect laws are in place to keep old sh!tbox unroadworthy kingswoods off the road. Instead, it's being abused to target modified cars.
  11. is your suspension stock. what about your wheel size and tyre profile? the stock shocks are pretty well matched to the stock springs. I find them firm but smooth.
  12. cool. I've never heard of this before and i read the passage without any problems. I reakon it's not the first and last letter of the word, but rather, the first and last letter that makes up each syllable. Hmmm... cool trivia to know. =)
  13. It depends on which cop you came accross. It's the highway patrol that love to pull over cars and defect modified cars. If you give your car a "proper stick" and get seen by a general duties officer in a paddywagon, he/she aint' gonna bother turning around unless they are trying to make a career move. I had a foot patrol officer try go pull me over once when i still owned my old celica. my number plate bracket was modified so the place sat under the front bumper inside the air dam - at certain angles you couldn't see it. As I turned left at a round-a-bout the copper saw me and ran to the street to try and get infront of me so i would stop. Luckily he was too slow (thank you Krispy Kreme) and i managed to pass before he got to the street. I saw him in the mirror - i just played dumb and kept driving. I can understand why he did it, If i was on foot patrol, i'd want to make a career move to put myself in one of those government paid patrol cars too. to the guy who witnessed the cop do a 180degree turn and burn out after you...that is classic highway patrol. My friend is married to a highway patrolman; most of them are bored out of their minds doing routine traffic stops and breath tests. They pray for the day they get to do something like that.
  14. yeah. brand new drive shafts are expensive. My drive shaft snapped at the hub-side spleen on the ST162 Celica and Toyota quote me over $1000. I ended up calling a wrecker and found one (from the flange outwards.) for $50.
  15. it looks like the new volvo they're giving away on Temptation (fka: Sale of the century)
  16. Toyota are (in)famous for release mechanically identical "high spec" cars. another example is the ST162 "white lightning" celica - it was the same but "different" hahaha I blame it on the Japanese overlords running toyota. They strictly protect the "blandness" of the logo which forces the marketing department to come up with their own ways to make things more exciting (current and previous model sportivo being the only exception, of course ) TRD corolla please, Toyota!

    Air Leak?

It could be a slow leak from the valve or a puncture. The best way to find out is to mix some soapy water into a sprayer. simply spray the surface of the tyre and see where the air bubbles are forming. but either way, you're going to have to get it fixed at a tyre shop anyway.
  18. Nice! what's the damage ($) for those? Bill, you're my hero! hahaha
  19. Dude! I love your engine bay. I would have enver thought of that colour for the cam covers. Nice work.
  20. I feel sorry for the guy. luckily what broke didn't cause any internal damage to the engine. It's pretty good that Mazda did a recall without a customers stink-fest (think toyota). Kudo's to them. P.S I like the look of the MPS but I seriously hate top-mount intercooler. it looks like a gauze-pack with some black plastic around it.
  21. looks like the ECU looks at the hand brake and foot brake signal for the right combination before it disengages the TC. I'm sure someone could come up with a device that sends the same signal by splicing into the two signal wires. You'd have to figure out how to turn it back on without turning off the car. that would be cool.
  22. that's kind of a "given" as the numbers are stored in the dash cluster itself.
  23. or, on the flip side, it could just p1ss a whole bunch of ppl off because most of us can't afford what he just crushed. Sacrilege! Sacrilige I tell ya! :o :(
  24. the gun metal and polished lip looks nice. make sure you get the correct offset.
