  1. oh a challenge? I'm afraid not - picture being stuck behind a truck, and how successful you'd ever be at applying pressure to em lol!
  2. I'm happy to lead, but I think you might have a hard time putting any pressure on
  3. We mostly just talk ****. Xmas is too far away to really give much of an idea, we don't have an "official" break or anything but due to holidays etc sometimes the meets can get pretty quiet. Best to ask again around early December when we might an idea of what's happening
  4. Hi Steven, I think you should start respecting others peoples opinion regarding the easydeals unit. Multiple people here have expressed their dissapointment on it - mostly due to it's lack of stability/reliability. Promised firmware updates never fixed these issues either. It does have it's issues and you cant seem to accept that (just because your lucky and don't experience them on yours doesn't mean people are lying about these issues). It doesn't cost $2500 to get a brand name with similar features either, more like $800. With that said, I do beleive the Android version of the unit would probably be much better (personally I love Android), because my main issues with the other unit is it's lack of stability - probably mostly a software issue. Here are some links of interest re Android head units. Android 4.0, 1Ghz CPU, 1GB RAM (higher spec than easydeals unit, more current version of Android too). Not sure on it's physical build quality though, looks like the same/similar design to the easydeals though. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/8-Inch-Android-4-0-Car-DVD-for-Toyota-Camry-2007-2011-Internet-3G-WiFi-GPS-/171022647546?pt=US_Video_In_Dash_Units_w_GPS&hash=item27d1be80fa Another Android 4.0, similar specs but slightly different appearance - the colour of the front facia doesn't look like it matches the rest of the dash. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/8-HD-Car-DVD-Player-GPS-NAV-IPOD-DVB-T-Radio-Android-WiFi-3G-TOYOTA-CAMRY-AURION-/161041869435?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item257ed7ea7b And of course the easydeals unit. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/8-Android-Toyota-Camry-Aurion-WIFI-GPS-IPOD-Car-DVD-Reversing-Camera-/261209301960?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cd149a3c8 Noted - and ignored. If I wanted your opinion, I'd go see a shrink to figure out what the hell is wrong with me. I did my best to test that unit thoroughly for you guys and ran around like a headless chicken organising that group buy, and yet you guys gave me a ton of grief when it wasn't good enough. THAT's why I don't give a damn anymore
  5. It's normal - the variable vane solenoid checks itself and its movement range with engine off but ignition on
  6. I have the exact same unit in a generic Toyota double-din in my Hilux - best non-brand name unit I've ever used, it simply works and never gives me any dramas. I'd go further but previous experience here warns me that some people just can't be pleased unless a $700 unit doesn't perform as well as a $2500 brand name unit, which they never will and is perfect in every. single. way
  7. Hilux_newbie - your vehicle's steering wheel would use a contact ring for allowing the horn to work. Newer vehicles that have steering wheel controls and airbags etc use a clockspring which cannot be easily retrofitted to yours. Whilst you may be able to fit a later model steering wheel, the only real chance of fitting steering wheel controls is to use a remote control setup that clips onto the steering wheel and thus isn't hardwired. Ie something like this. You'd have to do your own research to see whether your stereo system would work with it. Khansaq - Fitting a clockspring from a newer model Hilux, as well as the steering wheel with radio controls, is all you'd have to do. Expect about $150 for the clockspring (give or take, aftermarket) and whatever you can find the steering wheel + airbag combo. You may also need to run a few wires depending on your current stereo, as it differs from model to model. Very possible, but likely somewhat expensive.
  8. Hoppy's sounds the way to go - weather can't make up it's freakin mind at the moment
  9. Mate any chance of posting up some photos of your build?
  10. Also not a fan of that projector retrofit, pretty dodgy and I'm sure an up close photo would reveal it - very easy to hide imperfections from a photo that's been shrunk down. There are projector headlights available for older style Hilux utes - whilst the design isn't exactly the same it does show how they've changed the design in those older, more square like reflectors to have projectors. Might give some design inspiration just from an ebay search of the like.
  11. damn these weeks are flying by quickly. Yep for tomorrow night - would be really awesome if that womens netball team stopped by again for another impromptu wet t-shirt competition!
  12. Yes for this week, will be waving the banner until ya'll get back
  13. I have a chipit module in mine - I find fuel economy is about 0.5-1l per 100km WORSE with the chip on. I don't believe for a second any claims about better fuel economy unless it's under a very specific set of circumstances. The extra power is fantastic however. The best compromise I sorted was to wire a switch in so I only have the chip on when I feel I'll need it as opposed to all the time. In this case the chips only activated about 5% of the time for all driving and has minimal effect on fuel. For example I'll have it off when cruising down the freeway, but switch is on if I need to overtake someone or going up a very steep hill (saves on shifting down a gear).
  14. mate you've gotten very technical there, but given your (obvious) ability to sort this kinda stuff out I reckon you'd be able to figure out a solution. Been watching this thread with great interest, be sure to upload some pics though sometime!
  15. New brakes are bigger, so I dont like your chances
  16. I'll be in this week, but might be up to half an hour later due to some work seminar maybe.
  17. Getting in early this week re: attendance, although it might be a smaller turnout Also - DAMN QUOTE LIMITS!
  18. So hangon... One moment your saying you "smoked your friend's XR6T", and now this turns out to be a non-turbo AU falcon in dire need of repair? Exactly how does this make your Aurion fast?
