  1. For crying out loud. REBZTRD - You got caught out trying to promote a dodgy product, and now you're trying to weasel out of looking like an uniformed TIT. You're original response is not a "try out" or "look into this", it's a "You can do it with this". At least have the balls to admit you screwed up and don't know as much as you think you do. RE: Flash tune a TRD There is currently no known method of retuning the factory ECU in the Aurion or the TRD variant. Aftermarket ECUs have been wired in, normally a piggy back type ECU, which allows some tuning however without additional mods it's been found that both the Aurion and the TRD are already in a high state of tune in factory form. Additional mods that have been tried are exhaust upgrades, higher boost (ie smaller pulley) and intake changes. Aside from a set of performance headers (do a search) most of these mods have not yielded much in the way of gains (yes even more boost didn't work too well) There have been many threads on this before so if you'd like any more information on what I've posted above then do a search. It might be hard to find but trust me those threads exist.
  2. It is considered an "Option" You know why some cars of the same model have different things, like maybe metallic paint, tinted windows, alloy wheels, etc etc? It's because owner of said car "Optioned' these and "Paid" extra for these when car was purchased.
  3. Welcome aboard. This forum needs more 4wds and a Hilux is an excellent place to start
  4. BTW - being off a non-performance luxobarge the pad choices for the Kluger brake upgrade are rare indeed, and is really the missing link towards making for an absolutely fantastic system. If you contact Greg from GSL, he can get you some QFM pads made up to suit that will improve braking dramatically. It will probably cost around $150 or so for the pair but it's pretty much a must have
  5. Don't mean to rain on your parade, the Kluger/etc brakes are an excellent value for money upgrade but they are not up to par with the TRD brakes. Far more to braking systems than just rotor size and number of pistons

    DPF Hilux

They have a particle filter in the fuel tank pickup, and an additional filter in the engine bay. The engine bay filter also has a water sensor built in that alerts you on the dash if water is detected, in which case you have 1km to pull over before it gets to the engine (and causes all kind of havoc) Unfortunately the dash warning is only a light, so I can imagine it'd be very easy to not notice for a period of up to several kms, however there is a common mod that connects that light to a buzzer. Mostly the filters in the diesel Hiluxs are fine and don't cause any dramas, that being said though they've often (just like every other diesel ute) considered to be insufficient and many add an additional filter in for added protection. With the diesel Hilux you're main concern is the injectors and whether or not they're in spec. Only Toyota or a diesel specialist can check this for you properly, but if they're out it's a very expensive repair (ie $3000 is cheapest I've seen).
  7. Strange - why would they be parting out such a car?
  8. Sorry to hear about your health, but don't think we won't welcome you around here just because you've let the Aurion go - We've had a lot of members move on from Toyota but we still enjoy having them around. All the best to you though and I hope things improve for you
  9. It's been looked at but I suppose you're after the higher Torque figures of the Prado? In short, it's probably possible but it's also full of issues and the Prado might have a lot of other input/outputs that need to be connected that the Hilux simply does not have Aftermarket plug in "chips" for the Hilux are readily available and promise much greater gains and even better fuel economy. They're also very fairly priced and are a simple "plug and play" type setup.
  10. General Duty cops are generally your best bet for getting out of a fine if you do okay on the "attitude" test - apologising, well mannered etc. Denying it when you know they've got you is almost a guaranteed ticket, but I strongly suggest you don't admit guilt. It's a small line to tread but basically most cops WILL ticket you upon an admission. "Oh I didn't know, but I'll take your word for it I'm very sorry sir" is a good example of how to avoid admitting it but without openly denying it. Traffic cops on the other hand will always give you a ticket if they're able to, your attitude means nothing. Will these guys denying it is the only chance you have. I was stopped recently for "making an illegal U turn" however I was lucky enough to have enough knowledge of the road rules to trap him on a technicality so no ticket. Saying they might still get a ticket in the mail is 99% of the time just their way to walk away whilst trying to keep the high ground. Also, at least in Qld, if for an intercept the Cop starts using his notebook, you can be fairly certain you've escaped the ticket (most times), as the same information they would use for a "street check" also goes on the ticket so most won't double up the work.
  11. You're just lucky I'm not there...that my friend is scary. Don't let him trick ya, he's really just a big teddy bear
  12. From the replies above, I can see at least Daryl and I are going. But expect another 4 or so randoms to appear
  13. If it's only happening when the engine is off, or the car door is open, I wonder if it's got something to do with either your immobiliser or something similar. If it isn't on whilst the engine is running then I would think that it can't be anything serious
  14. Bloody tops mate, you going to keep the TRD wheels or offload them?
