  1. Cool, never knew that! I checked out their website, they have more wheels than BobJane offers but definitely the same wheels in RJR's catalogue. They seem to be a rather respectable company, been in business 30 years and have plenty of involvement in motosport. I'm very happy with the wheels especially for the price i paid :) RJR Circuit aka ROTA Circuit 10
  2. Welcome to the world of "Manual Driving" :P Gearbox failures are likely further down the track, i have crunched 1-2 too many times and i blame the toyota clutch that might have stuffed up my 2nd gear synchros. It doesn't help coming from a Honda which everyone knows is reknowned for their super smooth shifting mechanisms. but hey the gearbox is still good and you will know when there is a problem, frequent crunching from 3rd to 2nd is a sign of worn synchros. A loud grinding combined with no acceleration when you floor it means a broken teeth in that gear. ;) So watch these symtoms.
  3. The ones with blown motors might have also been over-reved. You just need one good over-rev to 11,000-12,000rpm to bend something in these high revving engines (2zzge incuded). Maybe its the shifter gates, the DC5 IntegraRs have a very notorious 3-4 gate whic can end up in 2nd gear if you don't concentrate. Maybe the super slick S2000 shifter mechanism have the same problems as the TypeR and that will be driver fault hence no warranty coverage.
  4. $90 for installation??!!!! That's bloody cheap!! I got quoted $300 by a local workshop without wheel allignment and $420 by Pedders which includes wheel allignment. But i guess i won't be getting any free bumper scratches or door jamming happening :P
  5. Very interesting info here. Is it because LIFT is hydraulically controlled hence the LIFT engagement point in each Sportivo is slightly different?
  6. I should be able to meet up with Craig B) IF i don't end up overseas :P Come on guys gotta show Craig the Sydney scene! Welcome to Sydney in advance Craig! Hope you enjoy your stay! :D
  7. Good to hear that mate, that's what forums are for. Although in my instance i took my Stivo back to Toyota 3 or more times when i had the sticky gear change and even gave them instructions how to fix it icl letters from Toyota Motor Co., they still couldn't do jack. So i thought stuff them i will just go aftermarket. The steering wheel shudder was fixed a couple of months ago under warranty though, front brakes were machined.
  8. I guess i just haven't practiced enough :P :P :P hitting limiter only worked for me when i had the stock clutch. too many cops around my quiet area for me to keep revving the Stivo without getting caught or i might get dobbed in :( i gotta find my own piece of private freeway soon, i miss my 1-2 LIFT..
  9. I'm waiting to see if they bring in a Mazda3 MPS. I find the Mazda6 MPS a little too tamed, not agressive looking enough, except that XR8 bonnet hump which is actually used to scoop cool air into the top mount intercooler! Why don't just use a front mount? The rear and side view looks just like an ordinary Mazda6 except the MPS badge and slightly different rear bumper. The wheels look like shyt. They could have at least thrown in a huge ricey rear wing :P. It is a heavy bugger too especially that bonnet! AWD technology is great but, i think if the Mazda3 MPS comes with a 2.0 liter turbo AWD as rumoured it should be a better car. Did yous see the new Honda Legend (don't think its in showrooms yet) ? 220kw AWD from just 3000cc V6 NA, no turbo! That's Honda's engineering at its best. But again the car looks very tame, i guess Honda is targeting execs and mid-old age people with the Legend.
  10. I landed LIFT more (8/10 times) with big loud chirpies when my clutch was giving me sticky gear problems! I just bang it off the rev-limiter and the cluthc frees up and i could always shift sooper fast. But if i don't hit rev-limiter no chance in hell. Right now i am always shifting a tad slower to preserve the gearbox's life and i always miss LIFT 1-2 by a heartbeat, even when i hit rev-limiter.
  11. Go with BobJane T-Marts man :P, i found their service good and they offer many good quality wheels incl Enkeis, unless you are after other famous brands like Wedsports, BuddyClubs etc They might not be the cheapest but you get lifetime structural warranty on all mags they sell and they have plenty of stores so easy to drive into any store and get things done.
  12. Wow this thread is a month old and i only just saw it.. i also have the same wheels Eddy had, in 16inch paid $130 each wheel and $200 each for tyres. I personally think the wheels are well worth the $130 each, plenty of people come up to me asking me what wheels they are. The good thing with the bronze is during the day it is dark enough to look like dirty gold and during the night or when the sun is setting the wheels reflects and shines gold like a polished bronze wheel. If you look closely at this wheel it has 2 shades of bronze. My wheel and tyre combo weigh slightly less than stock wheels or very similar to stock. The wheel itself without the tyre weighs very little. I believe the tyre weighs more than the wheel itself and depending on what sort of tyres you go for some better quality tyres weigh more due to the extras you get with them like rim protection edge etc etc.. I chose to spend less on wheels and more on tyres. Most mags sold in Australia come with lifetime stuctural warranty and built to Australian standards, all wheels sold by BobJane have that warranty. The quality wouldn't be any worse than the stock mags that come with the car in the first place. For pics of how it looks on a Black car look into my garage :)
  13. The ones runing mid 15s is that with a perfect 1-2 change landing LIFT or did yous fall outside LIFT for a split second. I am trying to see how much difference it would make down the 1/4mile if you landed LIFT 1-2 and if you missed LIFT 1-2. I am guessing it would be less than 0.5 of a second.
  14. have u been in a b16 civic? Or a DC2 TypeR their 5th gear on the freeway wil drive u nuts!
  15. Good turnout guys! I couldn't make it in the end, was going to get there at 1100-1130 then leave at 1230. I ended up in Kiama instead taking people sightseeing at the blow-hole :( Great to see the increasing interest in cruises though, keep it up Sydney peeples! :)
  16. Stivo produces 141kw @ 7800rpm, max torque @ 6800rpm. Integra TypeS 154kw @ 7800rpm, max torque of 194nm@ 7000rpm. The EP Civic TypeR (UK vers.) has 147kw @ 7400rpm, max torque of 192nm @ 6000rpm like our DC5 Integra TypeR. I believe the crucial factor is weight, gear ratios and torque. The TypeS has a shorter 1st/2nd/3rd gear compared to our Stivo and has more torque @ around 6000rpm which means no torque hole like the Stivo at those revs. They also have a slightly higher rev cutout of 8400rpm.
  17. Of course IT CAN BE DONE if u r looking into forced induction, Nitrous or even heavy NA tuning. But my point is i would rather drive the car as it is with some mild tuning rather than spend big bucks on the car to get more power and in the process have to spend another sh!t load of money on suspension, LSD, etc etc to make the car utilise the power effectively/reliably. On the same note, the amt of money you spent could have gotten you a brand new STI or EVO or that outruns the 150fwkw Stivo. FWD has its limits and it usually is well before RWD/AWD cars since the same front wheels has to steer and generate power. Or put that money somewhere else, like in the bank so one day you can buy a Gallardo or F430 (saw an orange Gallardo today near where i live and the sound was out of this world!) :P Like i said this is just my opinion on the Stivo and how i would like it to be. Its your money and your car so you can do whatever you like with it. :) Zee
  18. I will be meeting Dylan at Wollongong guys but have to leave about lunch time 12ish. See you all there!
  19. Honda should see this vid then they will realise what a BIG mistake they made for not bringing the EP Civic TypeR (UK vers.) into our markets due to exchange rates ;) :P I still love my Stivo though :D
  20. True but for an AWD or RWD car with the same power, the driver can floor the trottle earlier and get less wheelspin hence quicker in a straight line or around bends than the FWD equivalent. And we all know how the Stivo drives and a few of us has taken it to the track and know its limits. Even with our current power output steering through tight 2nd gear corners the car rolls too much and lifts the inside front wheel and its too easy to light it up. With better wheels/tyres and stiffer suspension this reduces but it still does it. With an LSD i suspect it will be significantly better though. Just my 0.02cents :)
  21. It would most likely be your front discs like Big Russ said, i had the same problem got it fixed under warranty. :)
  22. If you want 150kw @ front wheels imo you got the wrong car mate. I think its wiser to stick with mild engine mods and spend more on suspension, drivetrain upgrade (clutch/flywheel/lsd), better wheels/tyres etc to have more fun with the car at the track or something. :)
  23. Hmm, just not too long ago i lost to a manual SV8 from a rolling start (bad idea against cars with more than tripple the amt of torque :( ), lost by abt 2-3 cars by end of 3rd gear. Now u all know how many manual V8s there are out there, very few... in my area at least. I am used to keeping up and giving plenty of BA XR8s and Gen2/3 SS a fright and smile but hey they might all be autos with tight engines, but this once i lost convincingly to the SV8 but he sure was pushing that V8 of his cuz i wasn't too far behind :) SP23 is a nice car but it needs more go to keep up with the Sportivo. Maybe the Mazda 3 MPS will have a better chance.. lets all keep a lookout ;)
  24. Are there any qualitative data on the Optimax Extreme as yet? Like actual dyno printouts showing increase in power/torque or reduce in wear/tear or better fuel economy, cleaner engine, less pinging /detonation etc etc?? The only good comment i have heard in the media so far was on V8 Supercars by Dik Jonhson i think.
  25. From the Honda website i saw that it is possible for their cars to LOSE power with Ethanol blend fuel and cars like the S2000, DC2 Integra TyeR cannot use Ethanol blend fuel. I guess Toyotas have the edge here :D
