  1. Nice mod u got there Chris, also get Hot Version "Japanese Muscle", it has C-One RunX aka our Sportivo in it on the togue. Had good reviews on suspension and engine but they disconnected the ABS/EBD/BA, which resulted in a rear brake bias hence poor score from one of the reviewers.
  2. What everyone said about the flywheel is pretty much spot on, much better throttle response. Great mod especially when you are considering a new clutch kit. The TOM's flywheel makes the most peculiar mechanical sound at startup, sounds very different to every other flywheel but it works great. Like what Shao and Northy said, I did find that the clutch slips more when trying to take off but you just need to find the right technique to launch and shift. It can still stall on you very easily as eveyone that jumps in my car for the 1st time stalls it, no fail. Didn't notice anything much different with uphills or with passengers. Just rev the thing if you feel underpowered, that's what the 2zz is made for isn't it :D
  3. MR10 for me please! Would be nice to have my own 19,000rpm screaming V10 F1 like machine as my daily drive :D :P But seriously, sounds like even the MR2 will be out of reach for me :( Probably worth it if you compare it to the Lotus Exige going for $100,000. And also interestingly Toyota is using superchargers rather than turbochargers in their development of new hi-performance engines. But we still don't know where all these info came from and whether it is legit. I do believe the new sports car will be Mid engined rear wheel drive. There was this spyshot of a MR2 looking car being tested by Toyota not so long ago to develop a similar concept sports car with different engines, so this news is spot on!
  4. Don't know if i have posted but i'm too lazy scrolling back a couple of pages.. mine's BLACK (wouldn't mind a Silver one :P ).
  5. All these power and torque figures mean nothing imo.. what the car drives like as a whole is still an unknown. ← True Zee but with the figures of 166kw and 320nm surely this thing has to move and be a reasonable drive ..... but u r right if half of its figures are for the 1st 80% of the rev range and the last 20% it shoots to peak then yeah it would be undriveable .... but being a turbo i doubt that .... Also the weight is something that is going to be interesting to see .... all in all should be good .... i mean simply look at the new golf VW ... has less power and torque but yet is able to pull really good times ..... ← Yeh Bill, got to wait to see what the journos say when they test drive them i guess. I went to the motor show on the weekend, the VXR and XR5 sure looks the goods, packed with features and on paper figures definitely better the WRX's except AWD prowess. Price is the major factor though, how many people are willing to shell out over $40k for a "hatch"? Maybe its more a head on competitor for the Golf R32 or Audi A3 rather than smaller hi-revving hatches like the Clio Sport/Pug Gti which are priced in the mid $30s but lacks tons of features compared to the VXR/XR5. But hey don't forget the feature skimping (no aircon or central locking even at first) but sizzling hot DC2 TypeR which went for $40k 5 years ago and sold like hot-cakes, and its still legendary and i wouldn't be surprised if it still out-guns the VXR/XR5 on the track today. As for other cheaper hatches, the VW Polo Gti looks well priced at $26,990, Yaris was disappointing. The Mugen Integra TypeS looked cool, super light bonnet, TypeR red engine rocker cover (adding 30kw :P ), Mugen airbox, mugen bodykit, suspension and wheels. But with those parts it would be a $50k hatch/coupe :( No new Civic hatch and Honda wouldn't say much about it either. I guess the battle between Ford/Holden is shifting from big V8s to little torbocharged hatchbacks now that petrol prices are soaring sky high. That suits me just fine! :D
  6. Ahh, thanks man. I totally missed Dylan's input in that post ;)
  7. Was that with the coilovers Luke? I reckon you should have gone quicker, maybe its the tyres, brakes or gearbox stuffing up your time,, :P
  8. Actually now looking at 2004 BFYB, Rick Bates drove the Mazda SP23 to 1min16s!! Pug Gti180 and Astra Turbo with 1min14s times. Cooper S Works ran 1min15s. EVO8 is 1min10s, Elise 111R 1min10s, M3 CSL 1min7s. Now i would say all cars that day were unusually fast. It was winter though when they did the 04' BFYB and its Rick Bates driving. Dave in his Stivo would have easily been in 1min16s or maybe high 1min15s in the later sessions judging by how much harder he pushed :P
  9. 1min13s is a bloody good time if it is true in a stock DC2R. I have a Wheels magazine in Feb 2000 that showed the DC2R doing 1min 18.4s. But in comparison the Celica ran a 1min21.9s and the Civic VtiR coupe ran 1min23s. I have also seen a DC2R with AP 6 pot front brakes and no muffler run a 1min9s (spectator hand-timed). Seriously i think our Stivos that day easily beat the timed laps as it was done in our 1st or 2nd sessions. Later in the day we picked out better lines and got braver with our braking, we definitely went quicker. My rear swaybar also felt loose making klonk klonk sounds making me oversteer more than my last 2 visits combined :D but i guess i got better turn-in that way.. But what Dylan said is true, we are not comparing our cars to Hondas because they have double wishbones :( and the DC2R we all know is made for the track, weighing only 1085kg. All i know is the Celicas are currently kicking the DC2R's azz in the Production Car Series! :P
  10. All these power and torque figures mean nothing imo.. what the car drives like as a whole is still an unknown.
  11. Wonder if Lotus decided to wack on a TRD supercharger onto the 2zzge to produce the Lotus Exige 240R! Or maybe the T-Sport Compressor engine.. Lotus Exige 240R Has anyone been to the motor show yet? I wonder what engine Toyota is actually planning to use in the new Yaris. I heard this Motor show is a "Hot Hatch Heaven" due to the soaring world petrol prices :)
  12. haha yeh man, i couldn't be bothered before with the rain but i cleaned it yesterday.. but its bloody pouring again today! :( Watse of my effort and my precious rain water..
  13. if u really really want to get into 1st blip the throttle to rev match it and the synchros will allow you to get into 1st and don't jam it in, just slide it in.
  14. here is mine! Thanks Bill and Dylan for picking it up! :)
  15. When Dylan's car pulled 115kw, what were the other Stivos pulling? ← Zee and KT_haha both got 114kW (with only CAI) and Daves monster got 126kW (with CAI, CES exhaust and unichip) performed at Toymods dyno day 11 at Silverwater Automotive Services (SAS) on Dyno Dynamics ← Dylan u got all the numbers wrong! :P I pulled 114.1kw atw (TRD CAI & BP Ultimate), KT_haha pulled 113kw atw (TRD CAI & BP Ultimate) and Dave pulled 128kw atw (TRD CAI - ITG pod, CES Exhaust, Unichip & Shell Optimax+BP Ultimate or whatever Premium Unleaded.. he's not fussed) :D There was also a 2zzge Celica that ran 103kw atw on the same day. Also a heap of 4age Corollas running low to hi 80kw atw. But a AE86 Sprinter with a worked 20V Black Top 4age pulled 126kw atw, nearly pipping Dave in the under 2000cc N/A class. And Dylan pulled 115kw atw STOCK running Caltex Vortex98. I now run Caltex Vortex98 for a few months now. But like i said earlier its nothing these numbers.. real performance cannot be measured by looking at these. But it still seems that NSW has more powerful Stivos!! :P :P
  16. We just came back from Wakefield park and was quite surprised at how the Bridgestone Turanzas held its own on a dry track. It is a fairly soft tyre, grips quite well actually but noisy when pushed. It also has a softer sidewall compared to other sports tyres like the Bridgestone G3 which should also grip better and priced quite close to the Turanzas. However do remember the suspension is equally important if you want to utilise the better tyres.
  17. Stock 16s will be quicker in a drag. I know that from experience, also take into account the 195 width, makes it easier to chirpy and that's all u need for landing LIFT 1-2-3 easier. The Bridgestone Turanzas are also pretty soft tyres. But they look horrible because they are so skinny :P
  18. Nice!!! That'll show'em Astra Turbos :D btw what dynos did yous use? Also remember what the purpose of the dyno is so don't get overexcited guys.. :P fyi too, the highest power output from a STOCK Stivo is still from NSW!! Dylan's Blue Terror!! -> 115kw atw!!
  19. Where did u get that info from? Is it a legit source?
  20. The C-One RunX runs 17s on their car though, but i personally feel that if you want good balance and don't want to spend much but spend more on better tyres then go 16s like what i did. I got quoted 17 inch tyres and they are much dearer than 16s if u compare the same tyre. Save the money for lowering :P
  21. Your prediction has been noted, Azza, but I have a prediction of my own: Yaris T-Sport Who's to say Toyota isn't planning to drop the VVTLi 1.8 into the new hatch, given the current Rolla is generally considered to be getting a bit long in the tooth? Plus the fact that Buddha is wise and all-knowing. :P ← I went to Mazda today and saw the new MX5 and Mazda6 MPS.. i was a little disappointed by the MX5's interior, very plasticky and it didn't make we want to touch anything except the gearshifter. I was expecting much more from a $40k plus car that has been hyped up so much. maybe the driving feel is the real winner. It is also very tight and small (well i drive a roomy corolla :P ) but i am 5 feet 6 and my feet were looking for more room, felt like a Pugeot in there. In comparison the Honda S2000 feels so much better ergonomically. The Mazda6 MPS was locked, i nearly missed it actually because it didn't stand out from the others, only when i got close that i saw the extra bonnet hump and a "6 speed manual" sticker on the windscreen. It didn't look tough and i don't know if its really worth the $40k-$50k. I kind of drove away from the dealership appreciating my Stivo more :D
  22. How abt coming to Wakefield Park tomorrow for some more fun? :D
  23. Damn, i have never done an ECU reset in my life and this is just plain complicating/confusing.. i will try this out at the track tomorrow though since i will be driving it hard enough without getting booked.
