  1. Yeh E-gene why ain't your rifle loaded? :D
  2. Justin again from what i heard from Best Motoring <_< they don't reccomend flushng oils, actually they say NEVER use them as although they flush out the little metal bits in the engine, when fushing these tiny bits can lodge in the seams and tiny gaps in the engine. Hence they say NEVER use them! Anybody here has experience with flushing oils? Z
  3. Because your Stivo will woop your old V8 anyday :P And of course running costs atm is just riduculous..
  4. True what Dylan said and you get what you pay for. So those interested just buy it and those that arn't don't winge so much if you think its not worth. And be reasonable with bargaining, if everyone wants to get the best bargain, small businesses will all close down. Hope no one is offended ;) Z
  5. Agree on all the above, and on cold nights its easy to spin up the tyres in 1st, 2nd and sometimes even 3rd gear when you hit LIFT (note colder tyres too hence less grip). Also i think there is 1 more factor and that is "Conditioning". We all get accustomed to things and this "Conditioning" to the G-Force is normal if you drive the car hard enough often enough.
  6. Yeah that is the stuff I have in there now. And as to the comment from Hondas CEo, I dare say he would be obliged to say that, if he was saying buy aftermarket oils, they would be implying that their products are sh*t. ← i think spoon sells engine oil, too. ← Yeah, but I doubt most Honda Dealerships stock Spoon Oil. ← my point is why would he be obliged? spoon aren't honda. they are sell aftermarket stuff as well. ← Donza, SPOON is a tuning company and specialises in tuning Hondas. They built Honda race cars and race engines and have all sorts of aftermarket tuning parts you want for any Honda you drive. They even sell race ready SPOON tuned cars like the Integra TypeR, Civic TypeR, S2000, Fit (Jazz), but my favourite the SPOON EK Civic TypeR which has the Integra TypeR's 1800cc engine tuned to over 200bhp, revs past 9000rpm and weighs less than the Integra, handles and brakes better and looks bloody hot. Play GT4 and you can check out SPOON's cars :) Z
  7. Justin if you'v got some spare cash get a Unichip and have the car tuned on a dyno. Currently your AFRs and timing will all be out of whack (not optimal), happens with intake and exhaust mods ;)
  8. u watch FAR too much best motoring... ← :P :D I just love'em!
  9. Wow that's impressive being 2 secs quicker, from memory i think the Celicas did end up in front of the Integra TypeR but they had quick conrering speed and braking was good. But well i guess the race car drivers also play a major role in performance. I think the Celica would be more suited to higher speed tracks like you said at Philip Island with its gear ratios and 6 speed as compared to the DC2 Integra TypeR which has a 5 speed box and very closely geared. I know at Wakefield Park the Integras would be great there, but with an addition of an LSD the Celica might do well too. The biggest problem without an LSD at Wakefield was wheelspin in the tighter corners. Z
  10. Is there a Corolla Sportivo in APCC Dylan? or are u refering to rally? ← Rick Bates competed in the Eastern Creek round about a month ago or so... But we have been informed elsewhere that it was just a single event thing :( ← We shall cheer on the 2zzge powered Celicas then ;) i saw a broadcasted race and they are quite quick, just a tad slower than the TypeRs on the straight but in corners they are quick. If only the Stivo also had double wishbone rear suspension :( The Honda S2000 was bloody quick though it stuck with and actually beat the V8s, was a really good scrap between the V8s and the S2000 i must say.. but it looked a tad too bumpy. So Neil what are you gonna do to make the Celicas quicker on the straights (at least quicker than te TypeR) since its already pretty good in the bends and braking department? Probably top secret Btw Neil are yous allowed to touch the gearbox (i doubt it), as you know there has been some strong criticism on the gear ratios and the absence of an LSD.. What about modding the clutch/ flywheel? Z
  11. I use 5W30 Castrol FormulaR Synthetic, $44 from Auto1 5 liters. From what i heard about oils (from SPOON's CEO Ichishima San, Honda specialist), he reccomends OEM oil from your dealership. He says spending big bucks on oils can be a waste of money because big bucks doesn't always equal better quality oil. Well i guess that applies to Hondas but Toyotas i don't know and seeing that different dealerships use different oils, maybe the 10W30 VVT-i oil is the way to go and costs $25 for 5 liters? The only thing i don't like is that its semi-synthetic. I would reccomend any full-synthetic oil that has viscosity ratings 5W30, 10W30, 5W40, 10W40.
  12. The RJR Circuits were in "Sports Bronze" Lucio :P and btw nice wheels you got now Eddy :)
  13. I have driven a 05' Corolla 1ZZFE with abt 10,000kms and one right off the boat with 4kms and the one with 4kms drives like it only has 10kw not 100kw!! Floor the thing and it revved very slowly and very noisily, no go at all. I am convinced its got to do with the engine being brand spanking new.
  14. Like what Dylan said, get a on-car electronic wheel balance done. Also check the hub rings are there, if all fails check the brakes. After my front brakes were removed to get the discs machined, the steering wheel wobbling improved 100% between 110-130km/h :)
  15. Is there a Corolla Sportivo in APCC Dylan? or are u refering to rally?
  16. Thanks for sharing Neil, but would u be able to provide details of Leane's car such as engine specs (power, torque), weight etc.. :P Hope i'm not asking too much. cheers, Z
  17. Well Justin we can always race some other time hey, i'm always up for it B) So come on Dylan show Justin the pre-facelift is better! :P
  18. btw guys that's a Gallardo if yous don't already know. Specs from my BestMotoring DVD are: Gallardo: Length width height 4300x1900x1165 (mm) Wheelbase 2560 (mm) Track f/r 1622/1592 (mm) Weight 1570 (kg) Wheels: Front 235/35R19 Rear 295/30R19 Engine: 4961cc 90degree V10 DOHC Aluminium bore/stroke 82.5x92.8 (mm) Compression ratio 11.0:1 Power 500ps@7800rpm Torque 52kgm@4500rpm Murcielago: -Length width height 4580x2045x1135 (mm) -Wheelbase 2665 (mm) -Weight 1800 (kg) Wheels: Front 245/35 R18 Rear 335/30R18 Engine: 6193cc 60degree V12 DOHC Aluminium bore/stroke 87x86.8 (mm) Compression ratio 10.7:1 Power 580ps@7500rpm Torque 66.3kgm@5400rpm The Gallardo has a top speed of 309km/h and is AWD while the Murcielago is MR. The Gallardo is slower on the straights compared to Murcielago but quicker in the bends. It supposedly rivals the Ferrari 360 Modenna. Surprisingly enough in this BM vid, the 04' Honda NSX-R (NSX debut in 1990!) driven at Japan's Motegi East Course led the 5 lap race all the way until the last 2 corners when it overheated as Gansan was late braking at every corner over-revving the car too much. But this showed that even at such a high speed track, lightness is still the key to a fast car and overcomes the horsepower difference. In comparison, the Murcielago with 300 more horsepower only won the race by 3.5s over the NSX-R which overheated. Murcielago came 1st, Gallardo came a close 2nd, NSX-R 3rd, Porsche 911 Turbo a big 12s margin benhind in 4th, M3 CSL in 5th and Ferrai 360 Modenna in 6th.
  19. :D :D EU drivers only get 95 Octane don't they?
  20. What determines the "Sportiness" of a car is the heart -> the engine/chassis. The Celica and Corolla Sportivo feels sporty and can be considered "Sports" because it has a "heart" that revs to 8200rpm and produces more than 100bhp per liter displacemet, matching to a 6 speed close ratio gearbox. Suspension is a let down i must say but at least it can be improved (not like the DC5 TypeR and TypeS, you spend money on suspension to get worse handling). The MR-S has a nice chassis being mid-engined rwd but the engine is a let down for such a highly capable chassis and selling it at that price you expect more. If you say looks determine whether a car is a "Sports" car or not, then you are a hairdresser and should go buy a hairdresser's car (no offense). ;) Z ← you do relise that the silycr the mr2 and rolla use the same chasis don't you???? ← As far as i know the MRS has the tightest/stiffest chassis (drivers' viewpoint).. not to mention the better suspension setup and MR drivetrain, it can sure handle more power eg. a 2zzge engine/transmission swap.
  21. Didn't you remove the spare wheel or you could have broken 15s! :P Great runs btw, how's the clutch looking!? :P
  22. Sorry guys can't make the 31st.. can't get shift swap :( Damn it.. was going to try break Dave's 14.8 record :P
  23. Thanks Weiwei, hmm well i guess that is pretty good so modifying the stock final drive won't do much good.. ← like i said gearing is perfect i can land lift in an gear every time never miss!!! LSD is a must if you want to go fast on corners, the stivo's suspensions is also much better than everyone thinks! i'm actually installing a set of roll centre adusters and adding braces and thats it! the suspension tune suits the chasis quite well if i go to stickier tyres i might go fo a fatter rear sway bar but other than tha they are good! ← The gearing is far from perfect mate.. 1-2-3 is too far apart (landing around 6000-6200rpm is not good enough thanks to LIFT kicking in at 6200rpm, 6500rpm and above is ideal for the 2zzge).. And with better gearing you will be less likely to mis-shift or beat the synchros and the car will be more race friendly attacking bends, racing up steep hills, or doing drags. And regarding the suspension, if you take it to the track you will know how soft and roll prone the Stivo is. Almost feels like it will flip over in some corners at Wakefield. Coilovers are great if you want good handling. If not Whiteline's kit for the ZZE122-123 Corolla will also improve handling substantially. LSD is a must to prevent massive wheelspin and understeer when exiting corners.. when you floor it the car should turn INTO the apex and not AWAY from it which the Stivo does with huge wheelspin. Wider and stickier tyres also help for sure.
  24. Thanks Weiwei, hmm well i guess that is pretty good so modifying the stock final drive won't do much good..
