  1. only :P Mate, over there 110 is just the tip of the ice berg, unlike here the safety Nazis want us to think likewise.
  2. You hit something at 110k. That looks normal to me. Look at djk's car. It held out awesome. Not to mention you had a car accident at 110k and your still alive to tell your story.
  3. I had this issue as well, have a read of this: http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=25540&st=25 Check the light and connections.
  4. Oh okay, that makes a lot of sense now. Cheers.
  5. Thanks for the replies. When you say remove the glovebox, do you mean by just removing like I do when I want to change the aircon filter? Or is there another way to completely remove that whole underside? Any pics for me to see to get an idea of what exactly should be removed? I know how to remove the glovebox door to access the aircon filter but thats about it?
  6. Hmmm, I might ask them. I doubt they'll fix it but worth a try. Until then, anyone know what it could be or how it could be fixed without going to Toyota?
  7. Yeah, that is normal. Mine is empty too. Not sure why Toyota did that...
  8. Yeah, it definitely is once and a while. I noticed its much loader/more obvious when its cold, like driving off during a cold night. I can't believe Toyota would do this. Far out. I try my best to ignore it, but after 3 months it still bugs me knowing its tapping away over bumps. What is more annoying is that the council has installed these on the road I need to take to get home: http://www.istockphoto.com/file_thumbview_approve/6205569/2/istockphoto_6205569-road-lane-lines-and-reflectors.jpg And cars are parked on the sides etc and sometimes its impossible to not drive over them, and these are very bumpy, each bump the tapping noise just pisses me off. Its kind of like a crack sometimes, when at the dead of night sitting at home you hear furniture making cracking noises. lol. like settling in.
  9. I've neglected this for a while now because I've been too lazy to do anything about it. From the top, left side of the dash, I got an annoying tapping sound when going over bumps or there is a bump in the road etc. It sounds like someone is tapping thin plastic sheets. Ever since I got my car I've been trying to pin point where the noise is coming from, but for the life of me I can't figure out where its coming from. Is it somewhere on the exterior of the dash or is it something inside of the dash? I've searched and of course there are heaps of threads about this, but mine sounds like its coming exclusively from the left side. As I said, it sounds LIKE its coming from the top of the dash but I'm NOT 100% sure. No other part of the dash rattles, squeaks etc. Its completely quiet, except that tap part that sounds like tapping plastic when I go over bumps. Here, I've circled where it sounds LIKE where the sound is coming from. I could be completely wrong but from my observation it sounds somewhere around that area.
  10. Hmm, I haven't seen this one around. Must be new to the area I seen TWO Silver Aurion Sportivo's last night, one at the intersection of Pascoe Vale RD and Somerton RD. Chick was driving, lowered, bling bling mags and a 7" screen. The other one, mags and again a 7" screen. I wonder if it was the same car, lol. This time it was a guy driving. We were side by side at lights(Was about 3am), just us all by ourselves at the traffic lights, he took off fast but I did not bother to catch up and stuck to the speed limit.
  11. DJK, that is epic man. Props to you. You sure know how to take a car out for a "spin" I guess your not that worried about your mesh being ruined already? I'm sure you would have changed it anyway with all the mods you do. B) And what did I do to my car? Well, being a Saturday and a sunny one too and looking at BOM, weather for Melbourne looks sunny for at least a couple of days. I decided to give her a much needed clean after neglecting it for about 3 weeks. So I headed over the supercheap auto and picked me up some Meguires Tyre gel. Came back home, drove the car in the backyard and started it a much needed clean. I washed, applied scratch swirl remover, polish then wax. I then applied the Tyre gel, I have never used it so I did not know what the result would be, but wow! It is ****ing awesome stuff. SO much better then the spray. I applied two coatings, waited for the first coating to dry for 10 minutes then another coat after 10 minutes. I then drove the car around locally to christen the clean. I love the looks I get. Even though she is stock, I get people looking over at the car. The metallic silver when detailed sparkles and shines so beautifully. Anyway, that was my Saturday. Very happy, she is clean inside out.
  12. Considering all my life growing up, our family never owned "nice" cars but more so bombs because we could not afford newer cars. As I was growing up I was always admiring new cars and wished that one day I would get something new myself. I first started off with an old Camry that was given to me from my dad as a start off car on my P-plates. I'm glad I drove that car because I was able to smooth out my driving skills as I hit that car a bit from miss judgement of corners etc. Now, driving a car like an Aurion is my wish come true. I love this car and everyday it surprises me. Last time coming home from a mates place (3am), there was no traffic so I opened the throttle up and I loved the take off. It put an instant smile on my face. This car always surprises me! Considering its a Toyota too (knock on wood), I have high hopes that it will give me years of trouble free driving.
  13. What is wrong with your current wipers? Mine are still the originals and they wipe like they just came out of the factory. EDIT: On my old Camry I had the Bosch wipers, I replaced the whole thing (not just the plastic wiper) and I wasn't really that happy with them. They didn't wipe that well, but they were pretty decent in looks and quality. It was the ones with those "spoiler" ones that Bosch call them.
  14. Not really interesting, but today in the Melbourne City I seen a brand new facelift Aurion as a taxi. My first time seeing an Aurion in Taxi cab yellow :P
  15. I've done a few kick downs in the Aurion, all I can say its a scary feeling when its during heavy traffic because of the sudden acceleration and it feels really really weird when it drops down and then speeds up fast. The kick down in my old 4cyl camry was a laugh, the car would kick down a gear and keep kicking down until it stopped, she was so slow :P
  16. I wonder if the foam/leather used in the TRD is the same as my Aurion? The leather seats in Aurions are firm unlike some other cars I've sat in.
  17. Oh okay, I tried to look I couldn't find anything. Wow, that is really low. Very lucky djk!
  18. Recalls are only done for issues that affect the safety of the vehicle. In the case of the intermediate shaft, the slight misalignment only causes a knocking type sound but does not affect the way the car drives... and would most likely never cause problems. I really hope my TRD doesn't develop this issue like my last Aurion. And if it does... it better do it before the end of August, because that's all I've got left on my warranty. Yeah but its a production issue with that part. Why should we put up with a vehicle that has a production fault? The issue should be rectified for everyone. Instead Toyota are saying, "let it break first, then we will fix it". How many KM's has your TRD done by the way? I don't think you have told us yet :P
  19. Well I now have extended warranty for 3years/150,000KM so I still have ages before I need to do anything about it. Will just see how this all plays out if I need a new ECU or not.
  20. Chances are they forgot to connect the ambient light sensor when they re-ftitted your dash. Easy fix, but if you are going back there, you can just get them to look at it if you want. As for your knocking issues etc, it sounds like the same issue I have where my steering rack mounts are stuffed, but I think mine is more of a rarer case that doesn't happen to many Aurion's from the sounds of it. The thing is, there are three possible faults being the intermediate shaft, steering rack ends, or steering rack mounts. Each of these can produce very similar symptoms, so without seeing it first hand, you can't simply say over the internet which issue you have. It's like trying to diagnose an illness over the phone. Checking the steering rack ends and mounts will be much easier if you can hoist your car up so you can visually inspect everything. The intermediate shaft can be inspected from inside the car, but you will have to loosen a few things to test for play in it. Hey Everyone , im a newb here. own a 2006 zr6 silver with 23000klms. just a bit of background , i currently work for a toyota dealer and have been there for 22 years , qualified tech , done time in spare parts ,service advisor, workshop controller then branch service manager but now just quality controlling whilst the now closed branch gets rebuilt (sometime in the next 2 years ???). the steering shaft spline issue that appears on some vehicles is becoming more prevalent. Mine showed up just as my warranty was ending. Now the shafts are on back order from japan. There is a service bulletin stating the part was a production change and there is a photo showing the difference between the old and revised part. my issue was noticeable at 20000klms. When the vehicle accelerates and brakes with a slight amount of steering input it can be felt , the splines are a slip joint. The rack is mounted to the sub frame and the sub frame is rubber mounted to the body so movement is expected (you probably shouldn't be able to feel it ?) the shaft is the same as 40 series camry and currently there are a few 100 on back order. i have diagnosed 1 camry with this knock (the worst ive seen) and the car has over 300000 klms . so the knock is felt as described and is not normally felt going lock to lock whilst stationary hence a seized or notchy uni joint in the steering shaft like mcu28 kluger or aca33 rav 4. cheers Tim Mate, if its over hundreds and hundreds of Aurions effected, why the hell aren't Toyota putting out a notice or recall? That is lame Toyota, very lame! There is a known fault and they refuse to do anything about it. WTF?
  21. Yeah it is, isnt it! Good to see every things going okay.
  22. Yea mate, -DAvo said he picked em up from Toyota. So It's safe to assume it's Toyota genuine. I think this is optional. You'll have to pay extra for a set of these when buying a car off a dealer. If you're asking if the tyre is the same, I've no clue. If it's the rims u talkin about, It's exactly the same IMO. Cheers mate :)
  23. Hmm, thats weird. I guess just give the new ECU sometime to settle in.
