  1. then wait untill you do! and get a job quick! we all have to make sacrifises for our cars... WAITING is one of them! Yeah ive been waiting over, aaaahh what 6 months to get it done. And its not al that easy to get a job my end. YOUR END? you've been without a job for 6months and you wan tto respray your car?!!! I think she said she has been waiting 6 months to get the car done, not 6 months without a job. Guys, ease off, its obvious that the owner just wants the car finished. I do agree though, you will get what you pay for. Having said that, how many hours is there in painting a car? The reason I ask is that its noted above that the car is prepped and ready for paint (I'm assuming the owner already has the paint). So I wouldn't think simply spraying the car would be a job that takes THAT long? Does someone with some experience in this area actually have some good advice here, or are we all going to stand around, point and laugh?
  2. The 'click' your hearing when the air con turns on is most likely related to the actual compressor engaging. The compressor is belt driven from the engine, so it would be almost impossible to have it turn on without making any sound at all. Next time you start the car, start it with the air con off. Wind your window down and then hit the A/C button. If the noise you hear as the compressor engages is the same one you have been hearing, I would suggest you dont have a problem at all.
  3. Given the restrictions on the current V8 Supertaxis, I would suggest that what we will see is something with an identical engine configuration/suspension setup/aero package as the current Ford and Holden cars. It will just look like a Toyota. Still, its good news, I still remember the days when Group 3/Group A included cars from all over the world, was much more exciting than the current format. I'm probably showing my age here, but the days of V8 Commodores and Falcons rubbing doors with Ford Sierras, Jaguars, BMW's etc were awesome.
  4. Dude, lay off the shift key . . . . . RME1's response above pretty much hits the nail on the head.
  5. I can certainly vouch for the quality of the bars mate, they will improve your handling a heap. Maybe when you go down there there was supposed to be a couple of bars and some other stuff in the box eh? Nudge Nudge ;)
  6. All that came with mine was the actual bar. I dont think there is anything else that you need. There were no rubbers or anything like that, and the stock one didnt have any.
  7. Ever heard of the 8th mile?
  8. I have an idea . . . . . . How about everyone gets together and does their best to shoot down the best attempt we have ever seen at a decent Aussie Car Show after its aired 3 episodes . . . . . . Either you guys are all much much younger than me and haven't had about 15 years of frustration that there are no half decent Aussie car shows, or your all Gen Y and looking for the instant gratification that you are all used to (must admit, even as an old fella, I am too). Give the poor bastards a chance, if they can produce something that is 1% as good as the original show, it will will be 10 times better than this country has seen.
  9. Welcome aboard mate. There are 2 meeting spots. The usual is the carpark of the pool on Gregory Terrace, about 300m from the intersection with Gympie/Lutwyche Rd, the other is the carpark undercover at Albion train station (for when its raining). Check out the first post in this thread, Im sure it has some directions.
  10. Let me know how you go mate, the old man wants a set for his Nissan Patrol now that he has seen the ones on the stroller. JC
  11. Lock down your aerial!!!11 Young bold soldiers, the fire burns cracks and smoulders . . . . . . . . A man of impeccable taste obviously. But remember, a grand don't come for free.
  12. I can't help but think this may be a slightly biased opinon . . . . . . B) Told you I was 0.8% more attractive than I was on Monday didn't I mate . . . . . :D Sorry team, the boss' boss' boss' boss spoke for a while and put plenty of beers on, so I was compelled to stay.
  13. Happy to accept the softness call the moment you boys start paying me bonuses like Westpac do . . . . . . .
  14. I MAY be a late scratching for this one, have just been reminded that some of the head honcho's from work are up from Sydney and I have a meeting/people talking at me that may drag on a little. May be there, may not, will depend on how late this thing goes. JC
  15. My 05 Sportivo is approaching 60,000ks, still cant fault it. My Holden Ute had been through 2 clutches by 41,000k not to mention the numerous rattles and shakes it developed along the way. Gotta love Toyota reliability!!!
  16. [starts searching through iPod for obscure music] B)
  17. That sucks mate. Why does it always happen to people who love their cars? Hopefully she's good as new soon and you can put it all behind you.
  18. If you get really stuck it should be mentioned somewhere in the manual with a picture or two explaining where to find it. JC
  19. Hi Sandra, There is a lever under the steering column that you need to pull down (its huge, you wont miss it). Whilst the lever is down, you can adjust the column up or down. Once you have it in the desired spot, just pull the lever back up till its snug under the column (you will feel it click in). Hope this helps. And welcome btw. JC
  20. From memory there are 2 tabs on the bottom and one on the top. You won't need to take the front bar off.
  21. Try here mate, plenty of info on CAI. http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...?showtopic=5503
  22. Hey Guys and Girls, Most of you who own one of the Alpine double din DVD's from the last couple of years will probably know about this site already, but if not, it is THE place to go if your looking for a custom background for your unit. http://www.pride-rock.com/forum/index.php If there is anyone that knows/has used this site, have you found anything Toyota related that looks cool? I have been sifting through the 1000's of .apn files and its kinda getting a little boring, so if anyone has found anything cool in the way of TRD/Sportivo/Toyota backgrounds, if you could get in touch so I can get a copy of the .apn file, that would be great. Currently I have one that is just a black background with TRD in red across the screen, but most of it is covered by the track/artist/album info when you are playing either the ipod or DVD/CD. Kinda looking for something where you can see it all underneath the standard alpine stuff. Cheers JC
  23. The bank will usually require something along these lines if they are taking security over the car mate, its par for the course, only thing is, they don't really take into account the fact that although a dealer has no worries faxing them an invoice, a private buyer may not be so keen to do so without seeing their cash first. Bet you $50 its worth the wait . . . . . your gonna love it. B)
  24. These would be my first two suggestions too mate, then maybe paint the front lip the same colour as the rest of the body. If your mudflaps arent colour coded, do them at the same time, will make the car look a little lower without having to worry about a bodykit. JC
  25. Looks like I owe you all 2 songs next week . . . . .
