  1. I think the door actually goes into a compartment between the interior and exterior of the car, kind of like a slot. so you shouldn't have to worry about what you parked over.
  2. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...em=160135007203 Lincoln executives were concerned about the heavy and wide doors on the Mark VIII in the early 1990's especially in large cities with tight parking spots. They were toying with the idea of a Mark VIII that had doors that disappeared beneath the car which would require no additional space for the doors to swing open in order to allow the occupant to exit or enter.
  3. I will be on part 2 aswell for blue ones
  4. Great Review. I haven't seen the show, and I don't think I will bother
  5. Spotted "SWF 68" a silver? (possibly a really light goldy kind of silver colour. very crap light conditions) facelift sportivo with aftermarket front lip? on strathpine rd at gympie rd overpass heading East at 5:55 this afternoon. Looked to be in very good condition.
  6. I don't have personal experience with touch up guys, but a guy i work with had some scratches fixed on his commodore while it was at work. In my opinion, it was a really good job done very cheap. I would recommend them based on the job I saw done, however they will have differet people doing it, different colour cars, differnt damage, different weather condition for the paint to dry in. lots of variables when it comes to painting. If you get someone who knows what they are doing, you shouldn't have much to worry about though.
  7. Thinking of buying a set of headlight protectors and i have eyelids, does anyone know if i can fit the protectors on while the eyelids are there? I just hope someone knows something of this, otherwise trial and error. If don't fit I will keep the eyelids and not the protectors. Thanks for anyone who replies
  8. Yeah I think I will be out, I've been meening to come for a bit but been lazy I guess. Since I last came I have spent a bit of money (new clutch and flywheel, front bar respray and a bit of time cleaning) HDACHE, you live on North side don't you? If your not too far from me I could pick you up, but I don't know how long I will be out for. PM me if you want.
  9. The first crash were my housemates cars at my house, so no issues taking pics, the last one was a joyride crash and no one was there, as as far as i could tell the owner wasn't there for the red rolla either, only the tow truck. I was also hit in my last car and photos were very valuable as you can see exactly what it was like. Thats about as useful as a camera on a phone gets....well cept for the new ones with decent cameras in em.
  10. I think it may be to do with Moderators and Silver members being able to see some of the pics that people post up. I used to get those messages all the time and now i see it fine. And Holy Crap thats a lot of water
  11. This is an accident I mentioned in another post, a Commodore killed my house mates cars one night, a drink driver was to blame. In the first picture that was another friends Jeep Wrangler which he was selling, it was not touched, the Commodore stopped about 5cm from his car. This is one I saw one day ages ago, I don't even remember where in Brisbane it is. This one was on Hogarth Rd in Upper Kedron. A stolen car was being thrashed when a pole jumped out in front of it, we couldn't find the front wheel.
  12. How does VVTL-i work? The Toyota 2ZZ-GE features different sets of cam lobes on both the inlet and exhaust camshafts for low/medium and high engine speeds. When the engine speed exceeds 6000r/min and the engine water temperature exceeds 60 degrees Centigrade, the ECU activates an oil control valve that pressurises oil passages in the inlet and exhaust camshafts. This activates a cam changeover mechanism on each set of cam lobes which ‘locks’ the cam rollers onto the high-speed cam profiles. The result is that the lift of the intake and exhaust valves is extended, enhancing the engine's 'breathing' and power. Lift 1. to move or bring (something) upward from the ground or other support to a higher position; hoist. 2. to raise or direct upward: 3. a lemon flavoured fizzy drink made by Coca Cola 4. the fine art of taking a 2ZZ-GE powered corolla over 6000rpm and discovering nirvana Therefore, the art of landing in lift is either a. landing in a lemon flavoured fizzy drink made by Coca Cola.... or...... b. shifting gears fast enough to not let the 2ZZ drop below 6000rpm and remain in the state of nirvana As taken from the TOCAU dictionary and glossary
  13. Mostly alternative kinds of stuff. Music ranging from rock through to metal. My ipod only has about 11 gig worth on it so i can choose depending on moods.
  14. My clutch was going. When doing about 4000rpm without even touching the clutch if you gave the accellerator a little bit of a poke the clutch would slip. I think it had only done about 65000km, but that is mainly city driving and I bought the car and went from auto to this, so I had a few smelly clutch times, and my girlfriend has a yaris with an incredibly light feeling clutch and she has burnt my clutch a few times aswell. I changed up to a Exedy sports clutch and changed the flywheel to a lighter one while it was all apart anyway and I wouldn't Look back. It feels very so smooth now.
  15. I saw "Loose Change" a while back and I thought it was very well documented. There are just too many things that just don't add up right. I wouldn't go as far as to say that the US government did it, but I do think they definately know more than is told. I am trying to find a quote i had about how to get a country to follow you into war, it said that what you need is a major disaster to rally the people to a cause and they will follow you to war, it quoted a high rank Nazi Officer. And none of this kind of stuff is new, I highly recommend this page http://www.damninteresting.com/?p=713 (and the rest of the site has been entertaining me for a few years now)
  16. JixbzFjv_cU This is another one floating around the net. I think it is hilarious
  17. And I think I should add that a few months later a drink driver at about 2 in the morning hit my housemates car (the one who lost his lecence for 8 months, I was using his car as mine was getting work done to it). I should be able to dig some photos out. But it was estimated that he was doing over 100kph as his commodore had hit the parked camry which crushed it against the gutter and the commodore cart-wheeled twice. My housemates called the cops and ambulance and managed to get the guy out of his car through the passenger window, which was pointing up, because he couldn't manage himself as he was too drunk. The other guys insurance turned their back on his as he was drink driving, Both my housemates lost their cars, and the other guy got a 2 year no licence. They tried to get money out of him through small claims, but he moved and hasnt updated his address, so they lose out. So to sum it up, even though I agree that there should be laws against dangerous behaviour, Sometimes the law has to look at the situation at a whole. Sometimes the punishment really doesn't fit the crime.
  18. I have 2 friends, that were done DUI a few weeks within each other. One lost his licence for 18 months and the other lost for 1 month. Both were fairly similar circumstances, both had perfect history before that (possibly the one with the lighter sentence had a speeding fine). So I guess it comes down to the Judge at the time for drink driving. But if the Mazda guys' stories are accurate, I don't see that as being anywhere near as bad as drink driving. Have have even said it to my mate that got off easy that he prolly should have gotten alot worse and he agreed and said he has definately learnt his lesson as he is the one who has to give my other mate lifts alot of the time.
  19. I agree, The older Corolla's were fantastic cars aswell, My mum had one for 15 years and no real issues (250,000km) and a friend of mine has had one in the family for close to 20 years and has done numerous trips to darwin and adelaide (close to 400,000km on the clock) and they going strong. Theres no issue with reliablilty and seeing as they are light and a more powerful engine can be put in, will also get a decent performance out of it. Good luck with the conversions, I cannot wait to see the process unfolding.
  20. If one of the QLD boys heading down to the Sydney meet wants to bring one back up to Brisbane for me I would be greatful. :D
  21. I had to make a thread on this, Last night on Milton Rd at about 7pm I saw a silver 350Z, number plate LES069 and there was a really butch chick driving, and another butch chick in the passenger seat. Gave me a Larf. Then just around the corner I saw "Z Zed Z" on another 350. And I also have seen a black Tiburon which SKANKY number plate On Gympie Rd at Beams Rd intersection. I have a photo of that somewhere on my other computer (still being put back together).
  22. Also, Glad to hear of no injuries. I don't like the current stories floating around this forum. makes me worry about the safety of my stivo :(
  23. I have had a similar experiance. I was hit on a round about (she pulled out and her front corner hit my front quater panel) by a 17 year old girl who had just gotten her licence a few weeks before. We swapped all details and she said her dad would be back from business in a few days and he knows all about the insurance state of things. In a few days he called me, just as was planned, said he would rather she had a clean insurance record and offered to pay for the repairs in cash, he asked me to find a place I wuld like to have the car repaired at get a copy of a quote. He paid cash to me to pay the panel beater and i sent him a copy of the receipt. Everything ran smoothly, which is a bit different cause the guy who hit in this case is kind of arguing his point. Altough when I was getting the cash off of him he said that he thought I wasnt going through my insurance, Which I hadnt, then when he showed me a letter he got from suncorp I pointed out it was 2 days later than when she had hit me, at the same place. She had hit another car in the same manner at the same place so there was only the same bit damaged on her car and her dad didnt know about it . That kind of made me wish i went through with insurance, she deserves a bad insurance history if she wont learn.
