  1. I'm guessing Toyota dealer would have a proper machine to flush & refill to save time, I suspect something maybe went wrong with refill & the checking/difference of oil levels when cold & hot ? Sachs are good, KYB is equally OEM good & at the above linked price should be genuine, can get better price if you wait although eBay are tight-****s now 😕
  2. There's one next to the left/pass tail light behind the trim panel on the GSV50R, I'm guessing same or similar to GSV40R
  3. According to Scotty Kilmer you just bought the best car on the planet . . . . . well done boyo 😉
  4. That Magnatec is the Euro spec oil A3/B3 which may be better suited to their cars, I'm not sure as I've never used the ACEA spec oils on our Japanese cars which list the API / ILSAC specs only. The A3/B3 looks heavier than the Magnatec 5W30 DX which now has the latest SP/GF6 spec. From what I've read quickly the ACEA spec alone is more stringent than API spec alone, the Magnatec A3/B3 appears to satisfy both. Go figure ! Without knowing the ins & outs of oil formulation I would just say much of a muchness & certainly a bargain.
  5. Not all codes trip a CEL & any past codes are also stored for future reference. If you have a good mate mechanic get him to spend 5 minutes to check. They're rarely needed, I got a decent used one recently for a good price on BF which will come in handy for me when I decide to do ATM fluid flush/change as I need to monitor fluid temps for accuracy of filling otherwise I wouldn't have bothered.
  6. Looks like a rippa car, very clean. Exhaust is pretty tame which is nice. I'm guessing it's got a nice burble @ idle once it gets hot ? Almost sounds like an RB str8 six.
  7. Oh no, I'm that Volvo/Valiant driver, I love to drive my Aurion slowly, I never floor the pedal. It's just that I know if it's done the TC has no idea what to do which is strange to me cos the 86 doesn't do that, it kills the power to the rear wheels almost instantly & stops the car from getting out of control. Sounds strange for an 86 renowned for it's drifting capability I know but that's all out the window when you which all the nannies off 😉 I hope to get new tyres in the next few weeks, they're out of stock atm. ps: I would love to get a good used Lexus LS one day, but I would still drive it like a Volvo/Valiant driver.
  8. Interesting you mention the steering wheel wobble, on my GSV50 I don't have it but I can feel a nervous car/body movement as if it's tram-lining and/or following the roads varying camber but only on poor road surfaces. Both I & my mate mechanic put it down to virtually shot tyres which have an odd treadwear pattern on it which may be in part due to the TC "reaction" you mention above 😉 Do other owners of GSV50's also notice the slow response of or inability of the TC to smoothly control bunny hop/wheel spin or is it mostly a 40 series issue ? Despite my shot tyres & newer gen car, me thinks not much has changed in that dept.
  9. @Metal_Head Do you have any audio clips for our listening pleasure ?
  10. Looks like standard DIN sizing so a std double DIN should bolt straight in, assuming you have a pocket under it. I would confirm this by either asking around or take the stock unit out & measure its width/sizing. You would also have to re-wire the lot & replace the speakers unless you can find an adapter for them.
  11. Send them to me as well 🤣 I've been playing sat tatts for the last 30 odd years & I've never been lucky enough to win anything more than about $50, but right about now would be nice though. I would tell my selfish rich employer where to shove his fukn job 👍 which would give me the greatest satisfaction ;)
  12. @Tony Prodigy Amayama is based in Japan & has offices in Sydney & UAE. You will often find the parts are directly sourced from local car dealers if in stock so you can't go wrong. I'm just waiting on some stuff from them now, fuel filters & o-rings for both Aurion & Hachi. Thought I'd get them now with the aussie $ doing OK.
  13. I just tried that with my 6/2016 car & it's not doing that, not even with the key on rear seat, must be outside near boot. I assume your car has a receiver fault somewhere, get them to fix it.
  14. Well I'll be damned, I put the key on the rear window's edge & it fired up, once ! It's not supposed to work according to the book, key must be inside the car or within 0.7m of internal receiver which appears to be near 12V power outlet. I'm intrigued as to why it worked the first time but not others. Key on floor next to open drivers door, no-go, key in my hand just outside the car & it works. I guess it ain't 100% perfect, the 86 sometimes won't fire-up even with the key in the centre console 😐
  15. It's a proximity type switch, keybob must be within 1-2m for it to open, same for doors & for ignition key must be inside the car.
  16. They're all a pack of nongs, Bring back Kevin Rudd for PM I say.
  17. What Ash said . . . . "sleeper", its exactly what the Aurion is 😉 my Hachi is the exact opposite.
  18. I've never seen a Toyota oil filter made in PRC ever, they're usually made in Taiwan. Amayama have a Nitto filter for $9.50 inc GST plus post, personally I've been buying genuine from LSI off eBay for years now after many years from the local dealer, they look like the real mccoy to me 😉 Always get a box of 10 for good deal. ps: part # 04152-31090
  19. Great find Ashley ! The VI @ 40 & 100C & Density at 15C on both the Toyota WS & Penrite LV are virtually identical so a really good match. I wouldn't hesitate using Penrite, they make very good oils, highly recommend 😉
  20. It's almost normal I would've thought, could be injectors, could be noisy lifters & some induction. A clip with the recorder in one noisy spot for about 20 seconds so we can study it. Another method is to use a long screwdriver as a stethoscope on parts of the engine you assume noisiest, you will hear the noise amplified through the handle part up against your ear.
  21. I've been using the Nulon 5W30 SN/GF5 for years now & I'm very happy with it. Aussie made @ a great price when on special 😉
  22. That is a rippa clip, more than 200K kms & the cam caps look like new, the rockers same. A very clean, as new motor. 👍
  23. Well done Tony, yep its under there, in the words of the great Bill Lawry 'can you believe that' ? Info from web based repair manual 😉
