  1. Reason why I love DRL's ! I'm going to retofit some onto my Aurion one of these days. I'll do a writeup if it all pans out well.
  2. If you want a track tyre you could use anything provided that it sticks & handles change of direction well, ie: soft compound & stiff sidewall. A second pair of cheap wheels as Ash mentioned would be ideal although cost is always a consideration. A proper Michelin track tyre would be the PS4S (harder sidewall) or the Pilot Super Sport, if available in the sorted size, either are bloody expensive. I guess the ultimate track tyre would be the Yokohama AD08 all the 86 track dudes are raving on about. Be careful also you don't deviate the offset too far from factory as it could have an adverse effect on the cars handling & braking as you ultimately alter the cars track width. Guys with more experience in altering their Aurions could chime in.
  3. Just saw this - detailing porn. Rupes & Flex are two of the greatest brand names in the detailing world, imo. Beautiful, and bloody expensive.
  4. Awesome. Some of that info is identical to the latest report I have (also done on a Corghi), maybe because they used the ACV40R specs on my car as they didn't have the latest software update for the alignment rack, would you believe ?
  5. Ash, technically that's an excellent response & makes perfect sense. Problem is not many people have one of them giggas to measure temps. Max pressure on my tyres is 50psi-10%=45=plenty ! The above info is so great I wana try it - what sort of thermo gun do you have Ash & would you recommend it ? Repco have the Mechpro on special which seems decent enough.
  6. Sorry, my bad, I have no idea where I got 50mm from 🍷🍷 Still 20-25mm is a nice enough drop, springs usually get thicker as you lower which makes for a more brittle ride although your shocks appear to be controlling them well from the sounds of it. If noise is really loud, consult the installer. Perhaps time will settle them. Don't mind Meguiar's, they make some good stuff.
  7. You dropped 50mm & the ride comfort is improved with 40psi pressures? Wow, usually it's the other way around . . . . 60 series profile eco tyres will help this cause, 45series 18's on a performance tyre will change that 😉 Squish noise sounds like normal strut fluid compression. Clean car 😉
  8. My Hachi has the loud boxer rumble coupled with a short throw manual gearbox, rwd & go cart handling - it stirs the emotions, I love it
  9. Originally it had a full size wheel/tyre with the raised donut bootliner then a few months later they flattened it by replacing spare with can of goo.
  10. Yeah, the REAL reason why OPEC opposing drivetrains have been slow to take off It's all about the $$ not the health of the planet ;)
  11. If you do lots of localised driving the 4 pot Camry will be cheaper to run & harder to get a speeding fine in 😉 It's also far safer in terms of proactive safety.
  12. That same kinda of phenomena has me driving my Aurion like an 'ol fart/Hybrid driver & the 86 like a pace car on a racetrack 😐 It's the way the car makes you feel. Interesting also is that I feel more 'awake' in the 86 as opposed to the Aurion.
  13. The worst is a "can of goo". Many of us original folk back in mid 2012 bought our 86's & waited 6-8months for it to arrive knowing a full sized spare was included in the package, next thing we all knew Toyota in their infinite wisdom decided they should have a flat floor & dumped it for the said "can of goo" ! Needless to say we were all ******, I sold my "can of goo" setup & got myself a full sized spare & raised bootliner.
  14. I Personally think Hydrogen is the future, batteries are a big waste from start to finish.
  15. ^^ -1.42 - 0.08 - Struth what a camber variation, those figures can't be right. This is what annoys me, there's too much variation between cars, countries & shop info, see attached data. Not a definitive set of specs for our aussie tuned cars I know but it's all I have for either 40 & 50 series. I will try track some correct data maybe from Toyotas TIS online. ps: for what it's worth I also have always kept pressures on my cars at about 35-36psi on the sportscars & it's refreshing to see my Aurion oem spec to be 36, 38 feels fine unless you're after more comfort. I base off placard & then trial & error after that, I usually go higher. GSV40R_WheelAlign.pdf GSV50R_Front WheelAlign.pdf
  16. Pretty sure I saw different figures for 16 & 17" wheels on our Repair Manual. I'm also guessing 40 & 50 different cars & given 40 series issues with alignment, Toyota fixed those on the latest 50 series. I'll confirm tonight. To clarify, my MY16 Sportivo specs 36psi as the usual standard pressures, the shop recommends 38psi. Different wheels/tyre size/car combos may be different !
  17. Was going to say DAB radio but maybe not on a 2006 RAV so yeah normal radio or GPS.
  18. Should flow if you blow into 1 side but not the other. If faulty replace it with new, they're not expensive but your engine is 😉
  19. Tony you're an absolute fusspot - a bit like me 😉 Great write up with nice pics, you made it look so easy. Key also was in the jacking up & checking for perfect level otherwise it all goes pear shaped. ps: if you ask me your tranny pan is pretty darn clean, magnets got a little fluff but nothing to drastic especially for 123K kms. Good signs
  20. I quizzed the shop in an email last night about specs. I do have the alignment report which suggests they used the old ACV40R specs to set my car up. This is technically wrong although the specs appear to be ballpark compared with our GSV50R repair manual. Problem is it doesn't give figures for MY16 cars with the 18" wheels, I'm hoping not much difference if any. Shops excuse was don't have latest software update - pathetic. Need confirmation. I spoke to the guru of the shop today who also said what you just did regarding outside wear which is why he recommended pumping them to 38psi (225/45/18) which will aid in keeping the contact patch/tread flat. I'll keep any eye on that one 😉 You can adjust the front camber a little by loosening the front hub bolts, if not enough then you would have to replace them to give you the amount of neg camber you after, perhaps 0.25-0.5deg ?
  21. 1: Correct ! All very subjective, what I call quiet some would say a little noisy, actually there is a slight roar from the tyres from about 95km/h although hard to pick on my car as the road surface isn't the best, even freeways, car could do with more insulation also. Mine were certainly not $192 a pop (I wish), they were $262 ea + $50 w/a. 225/45/18 are bloody expensive, even more so than the 86 for a similar size. So many variables to factor in including size, car suspension setup, type of driving & driver behaviour, aggressive from standing start or gentle all play their part in longevity. Wouldn't surprise me if the Primacy 4 are actually a great tyre, personally I'm only going off internet & tyre expert tests & feedback. I can report economy is unchanged on my PS4 which is excellent. 2: I noticed not long ago that my car doesn't have a hydraulic power steer reservoir, presume no pump either making it solely full electric. It works fine now with these tyres. Shop rec 38psi to keep that tread flat for the life of the tyre. This may very well be part of the reason why it feels so effortless. 3: All depends on the driving. I'm guestimating I'll get a decent life out of mine. 4: YMMV - for me so far so good
  22. WTF ? What happened to all the lovely pics @ the head of the page ? Let me guess - something to do with brand T ?
  23. Does anyone here have the SPECS for the late model Aussie GSV50R Sportivo with the 18" wheels by chance ?
