I think it is annoying everyone. I keep wondering whether it is actually a person who types the replies, or whether it is completely computer generated.

Welcome to TOCAU. What colour is your Sportivo? It seems to be that way doesn't it?

I'll join you on that one. This whole market of cheap and simple plug in performance chips in unbelievable. Unless you are changing the ECU, getting it properly reprogrammed, or adding a legitimate piggyback, you are are not going to gain anything but a false sense of satisfaction that your car "feels" more powerful. I would give someone $100 and cover the price of the so called 'Performance Flasher/Chip' if they can prove that by adding this chip, they will get an extra 14HP out of their Aurion as the site calculates you will gain. People will fall for anything these days. On a side note, it's only an example from one car, but nevertheless: Volo flash "Performance Chip" Dyno results are in!

i dont believe its good for the transmission to leave it in S constantly, and drive it like a manual. after all, it is essentially still an auto that has the electronic capability to hold gears at request. i dont think you should overwork it i think it would be interesting to see how healthy an aurion transmission would look like at 150000kms I agree with lateralus here. When it all boils down, the transmission is still a standard automatic. It will last it's longest when you keep it in auto and let it do all the adjustments. It's no different to a car with a standard automatic transmission and you changing it from overdrive on, to overdrive off, then to second then first. The Aurion just changes it with a little more smoothness, but it's still the same thing nevertheless.

We need some volunteers first. I think you will find that of all the current members here with an Aurion, no one else except SecaBoy and has dynoed their Aurion. Unless I completely missed someone else's run.Reposting dyno graph for convenience: With that said, now that we have a thread, I think it's time for some measurable work to be done to some Aurion's and posted here.

thats funny Marty mines exactly the same maybe ive got a dud to,it will hold any gear for as long as i like. I think what people mean by 'not holding gears' is basically this... If you've selected 4th gear on the 'sequential shift' mode. It will sit in 4th, but when you boot it from say.....80km/h, it will fly back to 2nd and let you go, reving all the way out, changing to 3rd, doing the same, then 4th.. but holding in 4th until redline. Instead of just accelerating from 4th gear doing 80. :P Correct me if I'm wrong though. That is correct Nathan. Holding gears mean there is no kick-down, just like a manual. Sure it will hold the maximum gear once you've hit the appropriate speed, but if you are cruising along at about 2000RPM with "S" mode on and 4th selected, if you plant it, the gearbox will automatically downshift. If it held gears, it would stay in 4th and slowly increase in speed, just like a manual if you left it in 4th and put your foot down.

Brisbane Meetup (Every Thursday 9pm)
DJKOR replied to Danthuyer's topic in Previous/Past Club Meets & Events
It will be fine Evan. If you considered the idea of coming and don't have any other reason tying you down, then come along. If it's any consolation, I'm probably gonna get a caning for having two Varex mufflers out my rear. -
I just usually take a quick once over of the car before any long trips. Make sure all the levels are fine, air pressures like ASG14 has said, and as well as a quick inspection of the tires to make sure I didn't pick up any nails recently (though that's cause of where my car usually travels). Last thing I want is a nail in my tire and finding out once it's too late and then have no spare tire to fall back on if anything happens. Apart from that, if there is nothing abnormal in your day to day driving, your car should be fine.

is it just me or does this guy sounds like a spammer :S And every time we suspect something or calls him a spammer, this happens... Creating a new profile with the same signature is just plain hopeless. What I really don't get is how someone actually expects this kind of spamming would work. Seriously, I don't think that is going to sell any VW CC's.

AIRBAG LIGHT ON & HORN STOPPED WORKING
DJKOR replied to BrandonG's topic in Corolla / Corolla Sportivo Club
The horn not working usually is as simple as a blown fuse. It's a little different since the airbag warning light came on as well though. If you put one and one together, it may even be possible that the wiring in the steering wheel area has gone a little funny since the drivers airbag and horn switch pad are in the same area. If you're not willing to inspect it for yourself by removing the front portion of the steering wheel (just to inspect, not necessarily repair), then it would be best to let the guys at you nearest Toyota have a look at it. If your airbags are playing up, it's usually best to be safe and let them check it out. As for the clicking, what year Corolla do you have? Is the clicking speed dependent? Does it sound metal on metal? A little more information would be useful. -
Brisbane Meetup (Every Thursday 9pm)

As will I. -
What you heard was the exhaust completely opened. It is essentially no different to Rowan's or Elgin's, or yours (?) in terms of noise as it is a 2.5 inch straight through (with those perforations along the pipe). It was quite busy out there last night and I didn't really take it past 3000 RPM. But yes, in comparison to when I had the cutout on, the Varex is pretty quiet. It sounds a little smoother and less hollow though.

I see the argument there.... but a member by the name of jess_w pulled a 14.51 in a stock AT-X hire car. That was quite a surprising result when she came along. I would be guessing that the 0.08s difference between ELEGNT and jess_w could be justified in the differences in grip and suspension in the AT-X, together with driver ability. In a way, since I would say there is no gain in performance by changing just the rear mufflers to straight through 2.5 inch, at the very least you don't LOSE any performance by swapping the mufflers to such.

Nice one. I wonder how well that would go down for real. I guess there's only one way to find out.

I hear where you're coming from SB. I completely agree that this Varex is a complete gimmick and bought it knowing that it's not going to do anything to make my car go faster. I do agree that a lot of us in the Aurion board here are kind of following one another. First there is one mesh grill, now it's becoming like standard gear for the Aurion. Now the eyelids. It seems that about the only thing that is separating most of us are our choices in rims. As can be seen, the trend around here is to go for aesthetics. I must say, some serious performance modifications are needed to be done, but unfortunately this is not going to be me. My Aurion barely sticks to the road with the power it is given at the moment, so if I wanted to make it quicker, there would be quite a bit that needs to be done before hand. Now is the time that I save up for a house. The difference in the Varex and a CES exhaust to me was $1000 and for my last modification to my car, I decided to get the Varex. Essentially it's just a 2.5 inch straight though muffler so I can get that note that I like, but also quiets down when I drive to various job sites and when I am the late night designated driver for all my friends. I just couldn't put up with always quiet, or always loudest legal. That's just me. Just a shame that it means following a trend going around. I just don't want to be though of as a stupid just because I'm not making my car perform any better. It's just a car that I need to drive around to get me places, and I want to feel comfortable in it. This thing may only see the track once. No harm done and no offence taken. As for that 'turbonator' thing, if you would like to have a laugh (I'm really sorry sera709; I don't intend to be mean), this has already been attempted.

Yeah, it's a bit hard to see in the photos given the lighting. The only other things painted are the radiator cover and the fuse box cover. Just helps the engine cover blend in more.

Depends on what you mean by differences. In most basic form, mineral oil is oil that is produced from crude oil taken from the ground. This is why it is sometimes referred to as 'dino oil'. Synthetic oil on the other hand is created by man from various substances. Semi-synthetic is just a combination of the two. Pure mineral oil usually only as one weight to it. Semi-synthetic oil enables the ability to have a cold/hot viscosity range. You can find all types of oil at various auto stores, ie. SuperCheap, Repco, Autobarn, etc. You can usually shop around and find some at a better price.

I imagine Shell servos getting pretty busy on that day.

It is highly recommended that you prime it first. If you don't, you run a higher chance of the paint not adhering to the surface and flaking off over time. On the topic, I got a little carried away and painted a couple of extra bits. Nothing fancy:

I kind of like it when people don't know what model car I have. But then you get the others that call it a Camry.

The damage that low fuel can do
DJKOR replied to NightFlight's topic in Corolla / Corolla Sportivo Club
In the first and second photos, it should be the cylinder shaped object in the lower centre of the photo. As per reply below, disregard what I said. And all this time I've been calling that a fuel filter. Learn something new everyday.
