CAI/SRI buyers guide

Recommended Posts

I ended up purchasing a CAI off ebay for $130 then bought a K&N filter with a pre-charger sock ($125), initially it didn't work right, caused my car to run rich and fuel cut at 3,000 RPM, but I then took further inspection of the pipe and noticed that the inside was dirtier than Friday night's hooker, so I cheaned it out and plugged up a hole, that is used for the vacuum in the American models, re-installed it. It then worked perfectly after that... I also re-installed my Pulse plugs(spark plugs) and it's running better than it's ever been before!

Although the experience of it not working wasn't exactly pleasant, But that MAF has been in 6 other intakes, due to people not being able to manufacture something to the dimensions given to them :P

For 1ZZ you want the one for the xr. It's a smaller diameter compared to the one for the xrs (2ZZ).

If its for a Corolla XRS or Matrix with a 2zz then its fine.

It makes it a hell of alot easier to remove battery and bumper trust me.

Good filter option would be the K&N RX3900-1

You can get this from any autobarn for around $90ish. When I called up the one in Auburn Sydney they didn't have any in stock but can order them in from their supplier

Also this pod filter is good for those buying a TRD CAI for a facelift sportivo and don't want to remove their foglight

You can pick up a Simota pipe and Filter From AutoJoy in Parramatta for the 98-01 ae112 (bug and facelift).

Got it for Alby(my car) about a year ago, can't remember the price, but it sounds like sex (if two rhinos are having a go).

Well worth the $ in smiles

Just found this on e-bay, they have it in BLACKTOWN! http://cgi.ebay.com.au/K-N-APOLLO-CLOSED-COLD-AIR-INTAKE-KIT-/260605016540?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cad44f9dc

Want to know if this is a better option than an injen or TRD CAI, i know its a BUTLOAD cheaper....

Cheers guys.
