Replaced the Sportivo's Factory Panasonic battery which costs $1050.. which has lasted for so long since i guess it rolled out of the factory in 2003.

Bosch battery installed. Was not easy to source a battery that had the same height as the Panasonic battery, just so the factory bracket can fit.

$1050 for a battery? Is that a mistake? I work in automotive retail and have never sold a battery that expensive..

Yes it is. It's the white battery from factory in Japan. Made by Panasonic. You think $1050 was a mistake (well it isn't), a dude who works at Footscray Le Mans Toyota said to me that the original battery from factory is $10,000!! LMAO!

So I rang around and finally a Toyota mech viewed the part on the system and it is indeed $1,050. It's lasted since 2003 or possibly earlier and would of gone lasting a lot longer only if I hadn't accidentally left both dome lights on near the rear view mirror for almost 2 days. The battery just deteriorated from then on. Had it charged by the battery specialist I had bought the Bosch battery from. After a week, came back and the guy said it's pretty much dead and doesn't hold enough charge for cranking. But has just enough power for interior lights/radio. Even he says he has never seen that unique designed battery before. I told him it's from Japan.

Any pics with the new shoes on?

In the next few weeks. Ride height still needs adjusting for street use.

Thumbs up

I use dot 4, as far as I understand and my research so far, dot 4 is coming from dot 3, and dot 4 has no compatibility with dot 3, but never touch dot 5, as dot 5 will damage your car

I am using Castrol super dot 4, cheap and good ($11 per 500ml in supercheap auto), and you require 1.5 Litres (3 bottles) to flush.

and never mix dot 3 and dot 4 together

Just checked inbox and SD confirms that DOT 4 and DOT 5.1 can be used in the car. But DOT 5 cannot. Moh flushed the system out first though and change of brake fluid was done with the install of the new brake lines.

Min ERBP: 230°C (Dry), 155°C (Wet)

Viscosity: -40°C (1550), 2.0 (100°C)

pH: 7.2

its strange, everyone here is saying its ok to use dot 4 and 5.1. moh and my uncle on the other hand strongly disagree with it and should only use dot3. didnt moh say anything to u when u gave him the dot4 fluid?

Duy, you'll be fine to use DOT4 fluid. If my understanding serves me right, you can go up in DOT but not backwards so if OEM is say DOT 2/3 then you can go up. My stock rating is 3, I've been using Penrite SIN/Motul RBF600 ever since.. which is a DOT 4 I think so..

As SD advised me, dot 3 is not readily available anymore. I mentioned this to moh and asked him what choice would I have. Moh then went on to say the system has to be flushed first before using dot 4 and he did say it's ok to use as long as the fluid I buy is not dot 5. If u want to use dot5 then u must change the brake system - reservoirs, hoses, etc.
