Mitsubishi TMR 380 Supercharged

Recommended Posts

So do we all remember the TMR 380? It was virtually going to be TRD Aurion's only direct rival. it was announced that it had the "ok" for production only a day before the announcement came that production of the 380 would cease at Tonsley Park. These 20 TMR cars were produced after the mainstream 380 production had finished. of course most of these cars are in the hands of Mitsubishi Australia’s corporate managers but a few did make it out to the dealer network who it appears most kept as a collectors car but some was sold and used as daily drivers.

Anyway specs of the car do look pretty good:

- 3.8 V6 running a Sprintex S3/335 Supercharger with 6.5psi of boost

- 230kw @5250rpm

- 442Nm @4000rpm

- Dual Exhaust Outlets

- TMR Koni tuned adjustable coil over Suspension

- 5 Speed Manual Or 5 Speed Auto with Sports Mode

- TMR Front Strut Tower Brace

- Polished 19x8 ROH Flared alloys wrapped in Yokohama Advan Sport 225/40Z R19 tyres

- Custom interior featuring TMR Logo's and Accents

- Brakes Front: 370mm Grooved Hat Mounted Rotors with 6! Piston TMR Callipers (not that's not a mistake, there 370mm with 6 pots!)

- Brakes Rear: 340mm Grooved Hat Mounted Rotors with 4 Piston TMR Callipers - Braided Brake Lines Front & Rear with race Formula Fluid

One of the TMR's was raffled off but the winner wasn’t in a place where he needed the car, the money would do a better thing for him & his young family so he has put it back in TMR's hands to sell it on his behalf. apparently he has never driven th car as he thought he'd never want to get rid of it if he did SO

Here's a link to the car!

$47,500!! do we think it will sell or sit there and rust?? I guess you would never see another one but it's a lot of money for a car that was never really all that loved in the first place. BUT could maybe be a nice addition to a private collector where gaining value isnt the most important thing.

Thoughts?

I reckon it would sell. I'm not a fan of the 380 design but I'm sure there are those out there that would see the value in that car. Not as a collectors item though... if I had it, I'd drive it like it's stolen. That supercharger sure would whine with an intake.

There may still be a few Magna fans out there. (I need to stop calling the 380 a "Magna")

$47500 does sound like alot for a 2008 TMR 380, it may sell for around 35K-40K.

Yeah i don't mind the look of the car although take away the big brakes and wheels and in terms of styling its not a massive difference to a 175kw VRX. I'm sure a mad Mitsubishi owner will snap it up. i showed the car to my mate who has a Ralliart Magna and i thought he was going to blow lol! From what Ive read on the car it's quite a fine handling machine and with those supercar brakes f8rk it would stop! it would pull the tar of the road! And then you could put it back on the road with your face as you go through the windscreen! Yeah drive the tits off it sounds like the only way to me!

It would be a hell of a lot of car for that sort of coin! will probably go for around 40-45k though. Still very unique and quick car though

I always thought that the 380 had a nice look from behind since I saw it at the mitsubishi dealer back in 06. Otherwise, from the front it just looks like a magna.

380VRXs do look good but I see lots of confusing variations in different models. A pity that they discontinued it though, I heard that it's quite a nice car to drive.

Yeah you’re not wrong, in series one from the outside the VRX really didn’t look any different to the GT, just had different alloys and a lip spoiler, Series two had different alloys lip spoiler moulded into the boot and clear lamps (which looked pretty cool) then in Series 3 they gave it a more muscular look with grey inserts into the spoiler and grille, chunky alloys and high mount spoiler, shame they took away the clear lenses though. There's an orange series 3 in my local area that has being lowered and has some nice multi spoke 18's or 19's under it that really set it off, nicest 380 I’ve seen other than a TMR of course. The 380 was never bad car it rode and handled well looks weren’t offensive and were priced well. Interior was showing its age by the end of its life though. But if you was in the market for a big comfortable powerful daily driver or cheap family car then a late model 380 with good kays would be hard to go wrong although same sort of money could buy you a 36 series V6 Sportivo or Azure.

When i first saw this car on carsales as Adamsy did, i thought the pricetag was a little excessive. But now that i've seen its features, i reakon it will compete quite well with the likes of xr6 turbo or ss for a cheaper price.

Yeah for sure some hardcore diamond fan will pick it up. Maybe a Evo X driver that wants something a little more casual & less brutal as daily?

TMR 380 Supercharged 0-100

It wil lsell.

But the big questions are: What does it do on the 1/4 Mile and how many seconds to 100kmph?

There's a video of the car. video says 0-100 in 5.77 which is pretty quick but i would think it would be very similer to TRD Aurion in Performance till around 150-160kms, if you compare videos with a TRD Aurion, The TRD does look quicker though espcially to 60 as it has more mechanical grip and ofcourse a more advanced DAT systemt to help stem the torque delivery.
