From carpoint, in summary, a normal 1.8L supercharged to produce 160kw and 215Nm, 0-100 in 6.9seconds.

"'Toyota Corolla' and 'high performance' seldom appear in the same sentence, but here's a souped-up variant that proves there's an exception to every rule. Known as the Corolla Compresser, it's snout is stuffed with a force-fed engine that endows the hot-selling hatch with a startling amount of poke.

The Corolla Compressor uses the same 1.8-litre VVTL-i four-cylinder unit as the T Sport (which we know as the Sportivo), but the addition of a supercharger lifts performance to an altogether different plane, and -- combined with a few technical adjustments -- enables the car to meet Euro IV emissions standards.

Try this for starters: the blown 1.8-litre powerplant kicks out 160kW and 215Nm, which allows the manic hatch to dispatch the 0-100km/h dash in a claimed 6.9sec and achieve a v-max of 229km/h.

It's not just about out-and-out performance. The extra torque at lower engine speeds means it can accelerate from 80-120km/h in fifth gear in 8.5sec, while the increment from 60-100km/h in fourth takes only 6.1sec.

To cope with the power hike, the Corolla Compressor is fettled with 15mm lowered sports suspension and uprated springs for sharper handling. It looks the part, too, riding on 17-inch alloy wheels with 215/45 tyres and dressed with a roof spoiler, deep rear air dam and sports exhaust system with twin tailpipes.

But before you start reaching for your chequebook you should be aware that the Compresser is a UK-only model, with production limited to just 250 examples. It goes on sale on November 1, priced at £19,995 (about $47,000 in our money)."

Oh and did I forget to mention that this is UK only and Toyota Australia has no plans of releasing it here. :D

I think this is a repost! :) Shame that they wont bring it out here :( I owned a 4agze supercharged ae92 for a few years and it was the best driving car I have experienced thus far ( for such a cheap car).

well if they did release them out here i still wouldnt buy one as much as id like to.

but i would really like to know what exact parts they use on the compressor so if i decided to or wanted to i could upgrade mind to supercharged.

cant be as much of an issue as i thought it wouldve been to supercharge or turbo charge the stivo.

might as well just get a eaton supercharger and pulley kit for ur corolla and bolt it on

yeah i know this but i wanna know if anything else was changed on the motor besides just bolting on a supercharger.

dont wanna get it supercharged or turboed and blow somthing because i didnt replace some important part or somthing.

plus need to finout complete cost.

do you have any idea what the eaton supercharger and pulleykit are worth?

why do exactly what they did? they only got 20kw gains ...

run low boost and u should be fine

otherwise go and get harder internals eg ceramics etc

and get a specialist to do the install- one that has done many cars before

Has anyone done any research on the cost to turbo or supercharge their sportivo?

Im expecting turbocharged would be cheaper, because i always hear supercharging is more expensive somewhat.

I think there's been some discussion for turboing a 1ZZ-FE, but not sure about sportivo.

I think rollamods once listed all the parts and costs needed to do such a job. If you search the forums, you'll find it. I don't think the list would change much for a 2ZZ-GE.

Also check out monkey wrench racing (do a google seach for the website) these guys in the US have almost everything for the 1ZZ-FE to the 2ZZ-GE such as turbo kits etc.

I saw a stroker kit there once, bore the engine out to a 2.0L. Hey, forget the turbo! :P

The blown corolla will make it here but in limited numbers. The stock internals should be fine for running low boost, and the whole purpose of the blower is to give you low end torque. About those figures :) toyota did claim the sportivo runs 0-100 in 8.4, and that was bull****. So this 6.9 figure is likely to be understated. Low 6's more like it, even high 5's

But still for $47big ones would yous still get it? It's got 2 doors though. I know i won't, there are too many options for that sort of money.. its not worth it imo.

The supercharger can be turned on and off?!

That is freaking cool, save fuel when needed, wow, down the track i think supercharging would be sweet once i get a sportivo. Im thinking ahead of myself already, jee >.<

u cant turn it off??

id go turbo .. more room in the bay .. most people who supercharge lose their AC.

cost u about 6k for a low boost turbo kit been done for as low as 4k and can just go up in $$$ from there

let's not forget this car will be a instant collectors item. some one should seriously put like 3 of them in a garage and leave them there for 10 years. I think they built more Enzo Ferrari's than these.

and the point is not how much power it's rated at, it's the fact that it's stock with boost proof that Toyota can do it, they just insist on kicking us in the junk every chance they get.

BTW the MWR and Trial Stroker kits are both Based on a 1ZZ crank with 2ZZ rods and pistons

...they'll be just like the other $40K "sportivo" turbo corolla which didn't sell when faced with competition like the 200SX and WRX which were the same price. That one's such a collectors item now the poor owners have a hard time selling them... :P

If they're $40K AU or more RRP (if they are actually released), they will sell very poorly when faced with the competition like the new 2.5L turbo WRX which has more torque and less traction issues

Also with the release of the Holden Astra VRX around the courner and Ford to follow with the XR5. Im a big rolla fan but inside goss at Holden say the VXR will sell for 43. I know which one i would buy :(

yeah but what if they released them in awd like the matrix in the U.S.

then for the cash could be a good option over wrx because of fuel economy rarity and the whole sleeper factor.lol

when we were at the dyno day at NT performance the guy there simon told me there was a guy currently looking at turboing his sportivo ( not in this club or site)

and the price was just on 5K including full custom exhaust system and custom extractors and a few other things aswel which made my eyes boggle at the thought of that price for all the gear he was getting custom made.

i have seriouly been considering it lately but want to wait till all the damn bugs are out of my stivo under warranty before i go there. :D

I've seen a very well priced ZZE turbo kit being put together in Brisbane at the moment... Details will be posted after the car's had the swap done.
