Hi guys,

I was thinking about selling my Aurion to purchase a TRD but one of the main thing that's stopping me is I'm not a fan of the TRD interior, and interiors are important for me.

Here are my car specs:

INTERIOR

Late 2010 Aurion Sportivo ZR6 BLACK

Full leather interior

Reverse camera with 5" monitor

6 Stack CD/mp3 player with USB input

Bluetooth hands free with A2DP

Dual Climate Control

With.a push of a button,a set of electric arms pulls up a shade blocking fabric from the rear window. Never seen it in their cars so now sure what's it called

Original Sportivo mats

Push button start

Usual cruise control, power steering, air con etc

EXTERIOR

Tinted windows (not legal)

Has done bout 58k

19x8.5 OX2008 with Dunlop Sports Maxx tyres

Pedders springs

Camry style rear lip

2 x Original Toyota Proximity Key Sensor ($450 each from Toyota). This makes the car almost impossible to steal. When u approach the car with the sensor in your hand, you just touch the car and it will unlock. If the sensor is not inside the car, it won't turn on and off u lock the car with the door handle button and the key is still inside, it will not lock. Awesome if you're carrying a tonnne of shopping bags. If the keys in your pocket, just touch the car and it will unlock.

No performance mods apart from K&N AIT filter and the really expensive NGK sparkplugs

I purchased the door very slightly damaged. I've got photos of the damage and the entire process of getting it fixed. Damage was very minimal and only required a new guard and front bar which I purchased brand new from Toyota.

What are your thoughts? To sell or not to sell? And if so, how much do you think it's worth?

PS, car has just been resprainted, the car has never tasted anything than Shell V-Power and leather seats and interior are in excellent condition. Car is super fast and very smooth ride. Log books included.

Most important question is how many kilometers has it done?

Posted (edited)

It's done 58k, as mentioned in my first post under EXTERIOR. Also forgot to mention it has front and rear parking sensors.

I just want people's opinion on how much I should put it up for if I decided to sell it and buy a TRD

I think around $20k according to other comparable ZR6's on carsales?

Ok so you've listed your car and what you've done to it... What exactly do you want from the TRD that you don't already have?

Different body style?
Supercharger or other TRD improvements?

Weigh that up and you'll have your answer. You already said you don't like the interior, how much of an issue is that? Big enough to pay $ to change it? That may sway your answer further.

To be honest I was talking about this with Tard not long ago.

She told me the ups and downs of trading my 2011 Stivo Sx6 for an TRD.

She made some good points which convinced me not to trade it in and keep it. I really love the TRD Aurion for its supercharged engine and body but at the end of the day it is actually a downgrade from my 2011 Sx6.

TRDs have a history of high maintenance and easy wear along with expensive parts and repairs since it's a TRD. That alone alrdy convinced me not to getting as I precious my wallet more than the TRD. Also the more recent TRD will be at least a 2008 model and most likely the owner would have thrashed the poor thing until they sell it.

Tard did make a comment which made sense that if I am going to spend $20-24k on a TRD I might as well spend it on something which I can play around a bit more and customise more. Don't get me wrong I love the TRD Aurions and it will always be one of my favourite cars but to weigh up options if your chasing for interior and performance better to get a is300 or something which will be similar in price for a 2008model.

I have decided to keep my sx6 at the end and save my money for later use. Sx6 may not be a superb vehicle but it looks better than most cars of that range. I used to drive a STi Rex 2005 model but never regretted changing to and Aurion and giving up my Rex.
Correct me if I am wrong but I am just stating my views and advice. Of course you don't have to take it :)
Atm the ZRs I see on car sales sell for about $20-22k for a 2010 model. My experince recalls with aftermarket parts and customs installed it will not inflate your price of your car.

Most people don't care what you have done with your car and want to pay the flat out value of what it is worth stock or not. It's a bonus for them if work has been done but hey ain't willing to pay extras for work which you have done. It sucks yer but that's how it works :(.

I spent 8k on my STi and no one was willing to pay for the extras I done to it. At the end of the day I lost 5k worth of after market work. I will never fork out more than 2k's worth on a vehicle. Unlike a house/real estate, cars don't inflate, they only depreciate over time. Like I said I don't regret trading my STi for an Aurion ever! It just regret spending $8k when I was a kid on a car which would never profit for me=(((((

Haha sorry for the bad wording but typing that post was insane on an iPhone. Hope you all know what I mean and good luck UIK

Thanks jeffy for the paragraphing. I am really bad at fixing up my posts. Appreciate what you have done :) cheers mate

Thanks guys. Appreciate the replies. WildSeven I agree with you mate, Sportivos IMO look nicer than the TRDs, and like I said before, I'm not a fan of the TRD interior. If I did do the swap it would be only for the extra power. Nothing more.

Haha I like the TRD body kit esp the rear. I just think that paying more than I should for a vehicle that's much older than mine kinda holds me back. I love the supercharger but imagine if car breaks down I'll be paying parts and labour similar to a Mercedes would cus it's a TRD badge. If I had extra money that I can spare I would definitely only get one as a Sunday drive. =)

When I had the Rex back then I didn't even know what a TRD Aurion was until I drove my mates. Omg I have never felt that much power at the front end I fell in love at first drive. Reason I didn't get one instead of my current 2011 sx6 was because the deal I got from Toyota. The one I am driving now was a demo which racked up 9000kms and was selling for 28k instead of the brand new price of $42-43k. I eventually got the sx6 for 25k because at the same time I got 2 camrys and a presara for my business and if I didn't get the 4th vehicle for a good price I'm walking to another Toyota dealer. Haha they agree'd on $25k straight away and all was good :P

its not worth it mate, when u really think about it, the aurion already has enough torque steer, the trd aurion from factory only has another 25kw AT THE FLYWHEEL, not at the wheels. your car already looks great as is.

in a long run, you hav to pay more for rego and insurance, not really worth it :L

I think you all make good points. At the end of the day I prefer luxury over power, which makes Aurion the ideal car cause you get a bit of both

I bought a TRD aurion 3500sl. Absolutely ADORE it too bits. Such a massive improvement on the standard ZR6. I am currently selling my ZR6 at the moment, and nobody is interested. Already been advertised for 2 months. 2008 model, 71000km for $19,000 not even a phone call :( shame coz it is such a lovely car, who ever gets it will love it.

However i do recommend upgrading to a TRD, for the price you pay now days, its alot of car for the money, so worth it!

hehe I ordered a GTS. Consider the 86. I took it for a test drive and loved it. Damn awesome and fun and great to drive. Ordered it on the same day even though its gonna take 4 months :)

Yeh the 86 is an awesome car, but i needed a decent sized, comfortable 5 seater. TRD aurion is the ultimate family car ahaha. Love it.

Understandable. Gratz on your new pick up. Always loved them TRD Aurions. I did want one so bad until my missus sad no :(

She said I aint getting another of the same model... I told her its an TRD, and her reply was an Aurio is and Aurio. SHE still doesnt call my Aurion, Aurio.

Women know nothing about Cars (sorry Tard, you'll hate me). I bet you if I told her to stop buying her damn designer bags she will go crazy on me. To hell with it, she has like 8 of the m and she wants more. Hell NO!

OP, I'd be torn.

On one hand, there's a massive benefit of your current car being newer. Newer quite usually tends to mean better/less problems.

On the other hand, if you're able to sell the ZR6 for more than $20k, you'll be able to pick up a TRD with change to spare.

I'm currently looking at selling mine (necessity, not choice), and man is the market sad. Over a third of the price I paid lost in 18 months, fairly good chance of selling it to dealerships for $17k, might be lucky to get $20k on the private market. It's going to hurt when I manage to sell it after not having been able to drive it for the past 12 months, as it is one of my dream cars (I'm not interested in silly things like Lambos and 'Raris, there's just something about the more average joe cars of the TRD Aurion and the other dream car Shelby Mustangs). Damn the WA market at the moment.

My dealer offered $15000 for my 2011 Aurion Sportivo ... -___- trade in for when my GTS 86 with aero comes in.

I only had my car for 2 years...

Man if my wife said to me I'm not allowed to buy a TRD, I think I'd fall on the floor laughing. She knows not to get in the way of my car dreams lol
