Hi guys, ive been a member for few months now but first time posting :) wasnt able to come to the sydney meets because of work, but i will try make it to the Newcastle cruise.

Just got a quick question, if anyone knows a good exhaust place in sydney, someone who does quality work, im looking to get the whole exhaust system done on my 05 sportivo, ie: from CAI, extractor and the whole exhaust system.

Does anyone have any suggestion or done this before (if so, how does it sound/go and how much did it cost ya?)

thanks

http://www.hitechmufflers.com.au have been recommended to me by a few people for work in Sydney, they're not the cheapest but very good quality. They should be able to make a CAI aswell, only about 1-2 hours working in knocking up a full custom CAI and the material costs SFA

I still see no point in forking out that much money to replace the exhaust system for minimal gains.

I'd rather spend it on the central weak point of the car...handling. It's straight line speed is already decent. Invest in some good shocks/springs (coilovers even), front strut, rear sway etc etc. You'll notice more with that.

That's just me though. A few people only care about straight line...but still, I wouldn't be changing the exhaust in a hurry. The quickest N/A sportivo on here is running CAI/Excedy ceramic clutch/Spoon N1 axle back.

i got my exhaust done at some guys called auto performance mufflers.. they are in north parramatta, on windsor road, on the other side of james ruse drive to bunnings...

they are a little workshop, but a great bunch of guys and were the cheapest quote i received for my extractors/cat/catback system... they were fast too :)

West Side Mufflers Padstow

I have their number at home. If Padstow is a location and keen to check them out PM me.

A few guys have Remus exhaust on there rolla. It's probably the one I would choose if I had the money.

Not commenting if its better or worse than any other exhaust systems

Thing is whether you want noise or better response/power from...well let's say a muffler.

Remus give you decent sounding tone...but they are just as restrictive, if not more than the stock muffler.

Take an Apexi N1 or Spec III or Pro Spec cannon for example, you have better response, a little more low to mid-range torque and a little more power. Only a little I know. But you get a great sound out of it still. Loud as all hell though lmao. Silencer a must if you're hitting lift.

They do REMUS and have a pretty good work ethic. Know of a few ppl here who have been very happy with the service.

The guy originally worked at Australia's Best then started his own business here (hence the name similarities haha)

Depends where u are located too i guess..

I think we need to do up a spreadsheet of all the exhausts that different people are running on their cars. Then list price, performance gains, what the system/muffler consists of as well as if it is legal noise wise.

That's a killer of an idea Brenndo. We have a contrasting variety of systems on here so it would be good to see.

PS: Remember people, Meerkat have good systems too rofl.

Castle hill exhausts bro! They did a top job on my rolla and eggberts.

In my experience Hitech are probably one of the better exhaust shops out there and actually take pride in the work they do.

How could I forget. They designed a really good system for RX8. Wasn't even a full exhaust and it made impressive gains. I think...it was just axle back??? Article was in Hot 4's.

Im pretty sure it was a cat back...they also developed a killer 350z system when it was first released.

Speaking of hitech, they have finally updated their website. But with no Toyota?

Hitech exhausts do some quality work and have good attention to detail and listen to your requirements.

Liverpool exhausts - I would never go to again.

there are no doubts hitech are one of the best in the business.

livo exhaust can be a rip.

all i can say is the price they quote to redo an axle back with new cannon was 20$ less than the price i paid for cat back piping, flanges, hangers, redback resonator (2 yrs ago not at livo exhaust).

some of their work is good. but many stories of their welding much to be desired.

ive seen these guys make other stuff like intake pipes out of 'mild' steel and still charge 2 ballsacks for it.

only aluminium or stainless.

dont go liverpool exhaust unless there is a good reason to.

i do intakes for many cars

this is one example of my work

IMG_0029rss.jpg

solid as rock, secured held behind bumper with proper brackets.

try ask liverpool exhaust to do that. as simple as it may look i guess $400.

costs $250 to custom make this one stainless steel with genuine k&n pod filter.

those guys would source or just mandrel bend the stainless themselves and the rest would cost them nothing.

ballbreaker, maybe so.

ive heard good words abouts westside mufflers where jdmyard is.

i need to redo my exhaust due to adjustable swaybar issues so ill pay them a visit.

i mean if you can get same or better welding work and good service for a better price why not.

Iced the custom intake in the picture looks neat.

Can you please clarify your quote "i do intakes for many cars"

Do you do this for a living? If so can you PM me the details of your workshop? I would like more details on the type of custom CAI you can make for my 1ZZ.

Cheers,

I love it when people do things properly. Correct hosing etc etc. ;)

Just letting you know guys I may end up going Apexi N1 (sorry brian, I'll still be representing bb's crew though lol) just due to the fact they are a little better priced than Spec III (I like the design a little better too). N1 Universal muffler. Be easier to mount as well (plus with the silencer they are a little more quiet).

Vitagen has an N1 and he said that even without the silencer it's not too bad.

I don't have that much $$$ atm. Otherwise buddyclub would be the go. I'll let you guys know how it goes once it's on, give me a few months lol.

I had HiTech at Paddo do a full exhaust system from the engine back on my first car (GTI Swift-haha!) and I was totally stoked with their work. Really nice gains, awesome sound...the only drawback is that they cost a fair bit more, but IMO it's definately worth it. I had a minor problem where one of the brackets came loose about 2 years after I got the system, and I just rocked up n they fixed it on the spot, no questions asked....Be keen to hear what people think who've had stivo's done by em....

my 2 cents

I must agree Hi-tech is the best place for mufflers/exhaust systems. the last time i had an exhaust done was for a turbo back system for my r34. They use only quality parts i.e stainless steel and madrel bends. The exhaust also added a big gain in performance.

I've only been to them once and all the work they performed on the rolla was nothing short of A1. The provided good customer service and charged me 380 for a catback exhaust system with a lukey muffler and tip where some other places were quoting me 450+..... i guess people have different experiences with different exhaust manufacturers, so just weigh up the odds.

Whats wrong with liverpool exhaust...

I havent got my car yet.. but i'm looking to purchase one in the next few months... so i'm curious about where i should go and what i should buy etc...

How do you do your MAF mount?

Here's one I knocked up on Sunday afternoon to do some testing:
