STATIC SHOCK...

Recommended Posts

seems that everytime i get outta the car to fill er up or go anywhere... i get a nasty ***** electric shock when i grab the door to close it.

is it just me or is my car trying to tell me something???

feels a bit stronger than when you get shocked by rubbing your feet on carpet & touching someone....

try groudning yourself before you get out of the car, while you still seated on the driver seat or any seat in the car, touch the frame of your car before getting out, that should ground you and you won't get a shock when you close the door.

Yeap that used to happen to me too, and any passenger in my car.

Use to hold on to the metal part of the car before getting out.

Bought an anit-static from any auto store or K-Mart and it doesn't happen anymore. I've had it on the car for about 2 and a half years and all's good.

Yeah I get static shocks somtimes as well.

What I usually do is when going out of the car and I have 1 foot landed outside I touch the edge of the car door and then get out and I dont get static.

Its an easy way to discharge yourself without doing a song and dance while getting out of your car.

Caused by air molecules bouncing off the bodywork and charging it up.

As mentioned can be sorted by either grounding yourself before you get out the car, of buying one of those grounding strips that run between the chassis and the ground.

the best thing to do is make sure you dont touch any metal surfaces getting out of the car.

the wait till someone passed by then BAM! tazer them..

okay. that might be an easy way to get into a brawl but ow well.

Mine only happens when I am wearing my work (microfibre) suit pants.

When wearing jeans, etc, nothing happens.

Have been meaning to get a static strip though, anyone worked out the best place to mount one?
