  1. for whoring a lift, the 23rd would be good as it's in the middle of my days off... I THINK. Will confirm tomorrow at work.
  2. oh fail, just remembered i got a 11pm cerfew FMLLLLL wtf why? good behaviour Still come out for as long as you can though
  3. Started cleaning up the Aurion's engine bay - have completely underestimated the job to do the job thoroughly!
  4. Lucky they didn't bend the grill, now knowing just how fragile it is!

A thoroughly cleaned engine bay, and that neatly painted engine cover, would look absolutely HORN. Unfortunately it's also the biggest PITA to keep clean - though you have inspired me to have a go at mine
  6. If someone can give me a lift home afterwards I can come along next thursday :)
  7. Having never built a car myself (you are living the dream mate!!), how complicated would it be to make this road legal? I mean if people can get defected for having the wrong suspension, it seems like a litigation nightmare!
  8. s**t yeah, I can't wait to see how you get on with this! Kinda a shame that it won't be road legal though. Why not just find a cheap car close to the shape you want and drop it in that?
  9. Shame the Mod label on your profile looks a lot less fancy than the SOC supporter label. Certainly it could do with some improvement.
  10. ****. Woke up this morning and the windscreen has cracked! Possibly from twisting the cars body by jacking one side up too high. Only explanation I can think of...
  11. I took the good behaviour license for 12 months here in QLD a few years ago - Not saying I was a hoon when I lost my license, I just overtook a truck on the freeway and got nicked. 4 points doesn't stretch far. That being said, knowing you only have 1 point (and face a full 12 months suspension if you lose that) forces you to change your driving habits completely and will probably work out better for you in the long run.
  12. Well the exhaust is back on and seems to be running well. No error codes or exhaust leaks. Slightly deeper note when revved. Unfortunately without doing a road test there's no telling as to whether it's increased performance at all - I suspect that by the time I CAN get back into the saddle I won't be able to fully remember the stock performance. Of interest is the exhaust bolts at the header flanges - The nuts are designed to destroy the bolts thread as they're tightened, making them a one use only item (and also, likely to snap taking them off!). Least I know they'll never come loose by themselves.
  13. Update Exhaust is fully bolted up, and aside from the car needing a jump start she runs beautifully. No leaks and no error codes. From the back the exhaust is subtly different, but definitely has a deeper note to it when revved - REALLY wish I could hear it under load now!!!
  14. Haha :P Sarah is lucky she's got you. Willing to give up a night out with the boys (and girl) to spend time with her. How sweet!... We know what you want... Speak for yourself, I for one am entirely clueless :P

It's what happens when you use a Mac :)
  16. That part number is just for the Aux socket itself - it includes no wiring or connection to the headunit itself. I wasn't at parts too long, just enough to find out the above. The bloke also read out a number of other possible solutions but I didn't have time to stick around unfortunately.
  17. Here I've drawn the true outline in Red, and the rough centre of each pipe (to give an idea of flow) in blue. As you can see, the join is nearly spot on 45 degrees. Although it's not as sharp as what can be done by creating a whole new Y-piece, I do believe it will none-the-less function better than the unmodified Y-piece and for a cost of some bolts ($11 from Toyota, will pickup on Wednesday morning and install on Thursday) I'm hoping it will be worth the effort. BTW to any experienced welders, don't slag me off for the huge weld buildup at the join :o
  18. I can see why you'd think that, but it actually merges close to the same angle as stock. Ive just put a lot more weld and metal at the join because that's how it worked out. When im at my pc tonight I'll do a quick paintshop to show how.
  19. This is awesome as, you'd have to be happy with how its come up yeah? does it feel any different to drive? As per my other thread, the exhaust isn't back on completely yet, and even though I'll be able to start it I won't be able to test it until around April next year... Bit of a teaser eh?
  20. Finally got some stands, and it's 99% bolted into place. The only thing missing is the bolts from the rear exhaust header flange - They came out with fairly buggered thread, one even snapped. Already fixed it all up but now I need replacement bolts. SOOO tempted to start it up anyway but I know it will throw error codes and not sound as it should anyway. Hopefully get some on the way home from work tomorrow (probably cost me $9 a bolt or something stupid, damn toyota spares)
  21. Exhaust has been welded back together and about to go back on the car. Pictures here Final result is absolutely no restriction inside the pipe. However due to how I've gone about fixing the merge, the inside walls are probably fairly rough now - can't say how that will affect the exhaust flow.
  22. Welded up the pieces and gave a quick lick of hi-temp paint. The weld job was quick, messy and ugly - however that's what grinders are for :D Now just need to install it on the car, and hope their aren't any leaks...
