  1. I wasn't aware of that for sure, but given they sell pretty much identical products, I had my suspicions. Personally I just deal direct with RStyle as I've had no issues with them, but yeah some others have had trouble dealing with them, not receiving replys to emails etc. They seem to be a bit hit and miss with who they reply too, but I've bought stuff from them a handful of times with no issues.
  2. Yes, many of us did. Mine are a Toyota Genuine Product from the SE Asian Hybrid Camry (Which is just Aurion with a Camry badges and engine). A few have the Mars ones lights, and facelift Sportivo and Touring owners obviously have the local genuine ones. As Stretchy said, local genuine taillights will set you back about $1400 for the set. The genuine set from asia were about $550 delivered, and for the same ballpark as Mars I decided they were the way to go, as I wasn't willing to take a gamble on the quality of the Mars ones.
  3. Somehow I doubt it. There was a recall, if the customer chooses not to get the fix done, its hardly Toyota's fault if/when it ******s up. That said, if the customer has always had it serviced at the dealership, they should surely have just gone ahead and done it during a service.
  4. Hell of a lot of kit for a base model. There'll be some very happy ATX buyers out there! Do they not want to sell ZR6/Presara? There's not a whole lot there that would make me buy a ZR over an SX. Leather's the only thing that gives ZR the "have-to-have" appeal. The rest is just gravy.
  5. I buy most of my dance vinyl out of HTFR and Juno nowdays. I used to get a bit from Vinyl Warning before they closed down, and I think I've even got a couple that came from Sanity Dance Arena. Discogs is a pretty decent place to get stuff too. I picked up a copy of Felix Krocher's Schranz remix of Every You, Every Me on there from some store in Europe. Wasn't cheap ($65 shipped - and people think iTunes is expensive!) but well worth it.
  6. Defyant, mate those cases look awesome! As for my collections, I have 2 loves that I'll never own enough of... 1. Stubbie holders. Whenever I go on holiday I try and get some souveneir stubby holders of places I've been. Small towns, tourist attractions, cool shops, just that I've enjoyed on my trip. Rellies have jumped on the bandwagon too and started buying me ones they think I'll like, funny ones, brands, sport teams, etc. They take pride of place atop my grog cabinet, along with other grog related collectables - souveneir wine/shot glasses, a Stones Original ceramic decanter, etc. 2. Vinyl records. It all came from my DJing. It started with dance records, mostly hard tech and trance stuff that I couldn't get from DJ mp3 stores. Then I started buying a lot of new hard stuff because at the time I could buy the vinyl a couple months earlier than the download. I inherited my folks old vinyl collections from their teenage years when I started playing weddings, and so now I just buy anything. I don't really trawl for classics or rarities or whatever. If I see anything at a market or garage sale that could have some old gems or wedding favourites on it I'll grab it. At 50c for an LP, its a buttload cheaper than iTunes, and half that old 70s and 80s stuff isn't on there anyway, or you just never think of it until it pops up on a record. I have thrown some big dollars at some hard dance whitelabels in the past though - on a few occasions I've forked out over $50 for a record with just 1 song on it, because I freaking loved those tunes and they're hard as hell to get hold of! I don't think I'll stop buying records till the wall in my studio looks like this... (Disclaimer: That's neither me nor my house. I just found it on Google.) (Edit: WTF, why does this image keep reverting to its original size every time I shrink it and save?!! )
  7. Yeah, the easiest way to get paddle shifts would be to buy Steve's Aurion. Failing that, use the search function. All the info on how he did it is floating around in a thread titled somewhat similarly to this one.

    Actual ft86

Red one is massively under-wheeled. Then again, it is (half) a Toyota, so that really shouldn't come as much of a surprise. They wouldn't be a half bad looking rim if they were a couple inches bigger.
  9. Pretty sure there's no crossovers in the Aurion splits. I think they're just daisy-chained - a pair of wires (+ and -) from head unit harness to tweeters and a pair from tweeters to doors. Your speakers should be wired as follows: Pink = Left speaker positive Purple = Left speaker negative Green = Right speaker positive Blue = Right speaker negative (See DJKOR's post here for more info on the wires from the head unit harnesses.) As for the hiss, what are you using for your music source (store bought CD, USB with mp3s, iPod with FM transmitter, etc.)? Before anything else, test with a store-bought CD. Sometimes a poor quality audio source can have hiss noticible in high quality speakers that wasn't noticible in lesser quality ones. Testing with a store-bought CD should eliminate that possibility. Any further testing should be done with this CD too.
  10. Those of us who have had the line replaced haven't had the problem yet. Hell most probably would never have had the problem anyway. If the problem started happening with the new one, as the subject of an earlier recall they would probably recall it again anyway. Not a damn thing. He wasn't even at risk of the problem in the first place.
  11. Even funnier if it is. With all the information at hand around here, they should know better!
  12. Some dude wants to race my Yaris with his Lambo. I totally think I'm in with a chance! Whatta you guyzes reckon? lol <_<

    Little Rants

Entirely car unrelated but... F#$&ing Telstra! Surely its not ethical business practice to overcharge somebody then put services on their account on hold until you fix your own c*ckup? If I had another option, I'd **** those ****s right off.
  14. Anybody here with a white Aurion Sportivo with big rims holidaying in Tassie just now?

Funny you should say that, there was an SX6 in launnie today with 19" alloys vic plates aswell. needed lowering badly though!

White pre-facelift one? Probably the same one.

  15. Saw a white Aurion Sportivo cruising around Ulverstone Tas, this arvo. Pre-facelift, mainland plates (didn't get which state), looked like about 19" rims. Very rare sight indeed around these parts.

    Little Rants

Slimline ones are definately only for show. All they do is make the water travel an extra 2" before it comes in the window and gets all up in your sh*t. I've found the easiest solution: don't wash your car.
  17. We came up with a similar idea to this while a few years back during a drunken conversation on how we could make a car invisible like in that 007 movie (whichever one it was). Currently checking my house for bugs. <_<
  18. Sportivo is awful. Here's hoping it looks better in the flesh.
  19. I'm not sure whether you mean brand or price? Either way... Brand: PBR (I think) Price: Trade - about $280ea, retail - no idea. Pads are about $80 trade, again retail I'm not sure.

    2012 Camry

What different terminology might they use if it was real wood then? It may well be fake wood in the LS, I wouldn't know, but real or not, isn't it still literally a "woodgrain trim"?
  21. My folks got duped into some similar paint protection plan when they bought their 30 series Sportivo back in '05. Apparently some sort of coating that is supposed to stop most stone chips (although this does seem to have worked - 120k and still hardly a chip on the thing, an impossible feat in Tasmania) and would never need to be polished/waxed/etc again, so were told not to do anything more than wash it. My assumption is the active ingredients in this coating are a mix of fairy dust and bullsh*t.

    2012 Camry

Yes, just to clarify, when I say soft plastics, I refer to the fact that the plastic is softer (more rubbery?) to the touch than the plastic of, say, the centre console components, much like the 40 series. But it is still unmistakebly plastic. Its certainly not the premium soft touch plastic found in higher end vehicles, though, quite right. The whole thing feels better put together than 40 series though, and looks much nicer. The faux stitching is a nice touch also.

    2012 Camry

FInally had a proper look at the Atara in the flesh the other day. It was an Atara SL. Build quality of the interior is definately a step up (even if the dash material itself is still that soft-plastic feel of the previous gen), leather definately feels better quality than that in my Aurion ZR6, and IMO the SL seats are on par with the comfort of my car too. And for the first time in history, I actually don't hate the fake woodgrain (to the extent that it wouldn't be a deal breaker in buying the car). All in all, not a bad package. Can only imagine the SX is even better (for my tastes). If it came in a 6, I'd be all about it.
