  1. I do whatever the book tells me to do, ie: every 2 years or 45K kms I will flush & refill with the recommended factory coolant which is the Toyota LLC (red) for either ACV36 or MCV20R Camry in the family 50/50 LLC/distilled water. My 86 gets the premixed Toyota SLLC (blue) which has a VERY long life but have already dumped & filled it new when I added the oem WRX oil warmer/cooler.
  2. Managed to get a box of 10 genuine Toyota 90915-YZZD2 (the correct part#) for the 2001 MCV20R @ $105/box which I'm pretty happy with. Also bought some oils & Ryco parts for a power steering & ATM flush & refill from these guys - http://www.alliedautomotive.com.au/ @ good coin too ;)
  3. @I know nothing - any updates re this issue ? I'm all ears . . . .
  4. How's you steering wheel ? Anyone on here had any success touching up colour lost through scratching/wear presumably from wearing rings or just normal wear & tear?
  5. The cDrives are no longer available in this size, the ER300 are hard to get atm, the EP100 & Optimo K415 come highly recommended at a rippa price @ Jax so I reckon the EP100 for 2moro. Should be good. Will report back.
  6. Personally not had an issue with BT in my 2013 86 GTS although I often have the BT switched off on my HTC1 M7 which is currently running v5 (lollipop) to save power - should hack it & switch to iOS cos I hate android. When ever I switch the phone BT on the car picks it up immediately, music is instantly available & the phone book etc is available about 1-2 minutes later. It's an average HU but OK, just aswell as I prefer to listen to the rich uel sounds resonating through my STI axleback Would suggest try different versions of phone OS deleting the previous save on the HU if it fails. Other step is a new HU - complain to Toyota.
  7. A mate of mine bought 2 at separate times, the last one was the prev gen YRS 1.5L about 2005 model 5sp manual, drove the wheels off it & was solid even after 200K kms, appears to be a typical Toyota - bombproof. And it's efficient ;)
  8. Isn't the whole idea of PCV to address blow-by & I'm staggered than an Aurion has sludge in it after only 90K kms. I thought PCV valves were bomb-proof ? Is the OP's car a 1 owner only car ? If not then usage & service history is questionable & cause of sludge. I think the moral of this story is to: 1: Only use full synthetic oil 2: OCI to be no more than 10K kms, or use semi-synth & change out every 5K kms. The Aurion is a brilliant motor-car, I'm really surprised to hear of these problems.
  9. I get what you guys are saying & I'll suss it out for sure but my theory has always been Toyotas are great because of the quality of the sum of it's parts & mechanically I like to use oem parts where ever possible at the best possible price of course ;)
  10. Awesome article in the link above, nice.
  11. Not a fan of Ryco. Z418 appears to go for about $9 ea & the ST version for double that again. Not sure I could get better if bought in bulk but I know I can get even better prices than these for the OEM if I get a box of 10 which is what I plan on doing. Not sure my local dealer is willing to party otherwise the net will provide what I'm after @ a great price. I will check with my parts man for details.
  12. Howdy, Anyone know if 90915-YZZD1 is the correct genuine oil filter/part # for the 2001 Camry V6 ? Is there a high capacity filter available & what part # would that be ? Cheers all :)
  13. Did the driving style or terrain change suddenly ? The trip computer is constantly estimating range but as said previously I would take the info as a rough estimate. I drove a 1st gen Aurion Sportivo for 3 days once & one of the many great impressions I got was the economy as I easily got into the 9's/100kms for an average - pretty good considering size/weight & good use of all that power/revs at times ;)
  14. Got the word the other night that all went to plan @ the workshop & surprisingly the 1MZ-FE engine was & I quote "one of the cleanest" that they had seen although I have no evidence of this yet, must ask if they took pics when the cam covers came off. I say surprisingly because it has had less oil changes in it's entire life than I would like to see, ie: I would normally do 2-3 OCI in one year whereas the car has had 1 & less / year due to the low kms driven ! I'm thinking a lot has to be said for the difference oil quality makes & that synthetic played a major part in keeping that engine clean & sludge free. Synthetic appears far more resilient than you can imagine. I have used semi-synth for years & now full 0W20 synth in my 86 & I see no reason to change this on the Camry.
  15. p39 onwards should help you out. ACV36_Automatic_Transmission_Transaxle.pdf
  16. RM mentions that it's wired for a lamp so yeah I guess it must have blown & needs replacing.
  17. @campbeam thanks for this great info. Looks like I won't be needing to do any work myself (relief) on my 1MZ-FE as the sellers mechanic is going to do the whole enchilada properly 2moro to get the RWC approved, ie: plenum/intake & both cam covers are coming off to be inspected, cleaned & new gaskets installed. I have asked for additional work to be carried out like changing the spark plugs, adjusting the valve shims if required, new PCV valve & throttle body cleanout. Anything else you could think of ? Perhaps check EGR? This car should be mechanically awesome when I get it
  18. You have a Vienta V8? Oil lights should never com on, start to panic if they do & immediately shut down the engine.
  19. @campbeam Wow - what a script ! At any stage have you pulled the front cam cover to inspect the severity of sludge ? I'm surprised you used diesel mixed in with your sump oil, this would surely have reduced the KV of that oil at any given temp but then again you probably went heavier to start with right ? What of the integrity of the additives pack? Did you drive the car relatively easy & what effect could this have on the engines vitals like crank & cam bearings? How many OCI did you go through in total ? Having said that an experienced Toyota tech I know well once advised me to shove Wynnes Engine Flush in the engine & take it for a leisurely drive of 20 minutes or so then dump the oil & filter - I did this in my old gen7 celica every 10K kms for 320K kms & I gotta say it didn't have a negative impact on it ;)
  20. The Yokies I've heard from several people are great, wasn't expecting longevity as well from it. Appreciate the Hifly review but I'm a snob when it comes to tyres as safety is dependent on them. The Yokies & Dunlops are my 2 personal favourites & Bridgestone impresses me also.
  21. Something is loose, parcel shelf, whatever is underneath it or body panels. Trial & error I'm afraid. Could also be the speaker cone has ****itself.
  22. I was just about to say . . . . The very first 86 I saw in the wild soon after the June 18 2012 release was in a local shopping centre parked in amongst all the others cars . . . I walked right past it metres away I was & didn't even notice it - guess what colour it was ? I'll give you a hint . . . . it wasn't red ;) The 86 is an eye catching sportscar with lovely classical lines & white tones it right down destroying the cars styling. With a sporty number go bold or go home I say The top three colours in the BR86 range would have to be Orange, WRB & Red in that order of personal preference. The yellow available in Japan is also pretty hot. Congrats & enjoy.
  23. Thanks to all ;) Yes when I first saw that colour would have been on an Aurion Sportivo 1st gen & even the Falcon had something similar & instantly thought what a fantastic colour that is.
  24. Howdy, What are peoples suggestions for tyres these days - going on my dads ACV36 Camry Sportivo 5 speed manual ! 205/60/16 - need complete set. Good grip & longevity required. Have penciled in so far: Bridgestone Turanza ER300 (current tyre) Dunlop SP300 Yokohama Cdrive2 Goodyear Assurance Triplemax perhaps a Michelin ? Cheers :)
  25. Gday ! Newbie to this forum, hope to contribute as I have done for 3 other forums I often frequent since mid 2012 due to my new automotive love - my Toybaru BR86 GTS MT;) Never intended the script to go as it panned out, spent about $14K on all manner of mods, slept less & learned heaps more than I anticipated - still learning ! I have done all the mods myself as well as all the servicing. Previous car since new was a zzt231R Celica ZR which was quite an amazing car on all sorts of levels, proved to me just how good a Toyota can be. The 86 is on another level all together, not perfect but for the $$ I can't complain too much, what a wonderful car it is to drive especially when you start cornering :) Cheers all
