The TRD sure is capable of a 13.8 second 1/4 mile... in full street trim in a 3500SL which is slightly heavier. I believe it is capable of better than that if launched really well though. Only time will tell. As for the mods, it's not something that has really been looked into yet with detail. Mainly due to the low numbers around and the fact that not too many owners out would consider looking into it. That said, with my new TRD, I'm planning to get the exhaust fixed up by CES (in Brisbane) since I reckon that the stock exhaust has a bit of restriction that is really affecting it at the top end. You sure can... if that's what you really want to do. All rear mufflers are going to do is change the sound it makes. It won't affect it's performance unless it is part of a complete exhaust system. You just need to choose a muffler that is of the appropriate size so that it will fit in there comfortably. Another handy thing to do if you put new mufflers on is to get the tips bent downwards so that it keeps the cutouts in the bumper nice and clean.

Yeah.. it was quite a sad point in the life of that car. But hey, I guess it was meant to happen as part of the story of my life... I guess it's time to move on. It all seemed to fall into place in the end: DJKOR's Aurion - Rev. 2

I don't see why not. Would seem pretty logical I would say. Just make sure you put a diode in series so that the power window circuit isn't activated when you turn the key to ACC only... unless that's what you want it to do.

I need to spend more time with her to get a good idea of what would suit best I think. In tradition, it must be a girl name and with a car with such a stance, this may take some deep thought. It sure is a lovely car. Feels a million times better once you own one. Give it a couple of months. I will have to re-adapt to it since it feels surprisingly different to drive. I guess I will have to head over there on my own a few times first to take it easy and get a good feel of her.

What did you do to your car today?
DJKOR replied to JustinW's topic in General Toyota & Other Car Discussions
Today I bought mine. -
What was said above about the 45 second delay is true, except on the pre-facelift though, it just keeps the light and windows active. The radio turns off immediately with the car. As for the window closing on lock, you will need to add a module or make your own (with some electronic knowledge) because the moment you open a door after turning the car off, the power circuit to the windows is cut. The module will bypass this to allow the windows to wind up under it's control.

Cheers Mark. Looking forward to catching up again at the next National Meet.

Welcome Kieran. As I always say, great decision. The Aurion will definitely not disappoint.

That's okay Mish. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to be King of the Hill second time in a row. While we're here: DJKOR's Aurion - Rev. 2

The nitty-gritty (specifications and modifications). Updated 07/04/2010: - 2007 TRD Aurion 3500SL - Build Number 0095 - Ultra Racing front strut brace and 19mm rear sway bar - TRD OEM replacement panel filter - Yokohama S.drive tires - 15-20% tint (to be changed at a later date) - High definition aftermarket 7" OEM fit DVD/Navigation head unit - MTX Thunder 300W RMS monoblock amplifier driving an MTX 400W RMS Sledgehammer subwoofer - Aftermarket 8000k HID's - LED bulb replacements for parkers, number plate, reverse light, boot light, dome light, and side door markers - LED front and rear footwell lights (wired to replicate function of the dome light) - Personalised plates -------------------- Now to the story: Well for those of you who aren't familiar with my name on the forums here, I once owned a 2007 Aurion Sportivo SX6 which was Wildfire in colour. I absolutely loved it. I called her Sam. Those that do know me... the time has come. Anyways, it's story was told over in my old thread: DJKOR's Aurion However, due to an unfortunate event, that Aurion was written-off and I was torn inside. When it came time to decide on what I will replace her with, I knew straight away that it would be another Aurion. I had (and still have) good faith in a Toyota and the Aurion was such a great car that I couldn't imagine replacing it with anything else with the budget I have. So I gave myself three options. Replace it with: 1) Another pre-facelift Sportivo but this time it would be a ZR6, 2) A brand new facelift Sportivo SX6, or 3) A 2007 TRD Aurion 3500SL. I just had to get the Smart Entry seeing that I am a bit of a gadget geek, so options 1 and 3 would satisfy, but if I was to get a new car, option 2 can be a compromise. After a fair bit of thinking, I eventually decided that the TRD Aurion 3500SL will be the replacement. I figured as well that if I am getting a TRD, I may as well get the top-spec one. Luckily for me I found one in Adelaide where I am conveniently working right now. It's like it was meant to be. So today, all the finances were sorted out and I was able to finalise the purchase. So now I am a proud owner of a 2007 TRD Aurion 3500SL. The car is completely immaculate and well cared for. It is also Build Number 0095 for those that are interested. As I was driving back to the hotel so I could have them park it securely, I had given the car a bit of a light push to see how it felt driving it naturally. All I can say is WOW! It has been about 25 days since the last drive of my car, so my mind was slightly void of what the feeling was like driving it. Because of that, it was like a completely new experience driving the TRD. The amount of power is so much more noticeable compared to the one time I test drove Elgin's (Supercharged_TRD) 3500S. This car definitely has some nice pull to it. The grin on my face was so huge. So my car is now parked securely. Because it is valet parked, I don't have access to it, so I can't just sit in it and fiddle right now. That's okay though. I'm willing to wait till I leave. It's just that good feeling to know I have it now. To end all this, I will leave some photos here I took while it is in the carpark. They aren't all that great quality, but it's my starting point. There probably won't be any major updates for a while since I am tied down with work... but they will come in time. They will also be subtle changes. Cosmetically, this car is going to retain it's factory look. For once I am going to appreciate the way the car looks from factory. Thanks for reading. Daryl K

To correct what I said earlier... I got my numbers mixed up. I said it was Build Number 0098. It is actually Build Number 0095. Well.... this is officially the end of this chapter. Things have moved on now so click on the following link to continue the journey. DJKOR's Aurion - Rev. 2

Difference in TRD Aurion and Aurion Sportivo
DJKOR replied to fookah's topic in Aurion / TRD Aurion Club
Well I wouldn't say that's always true. Such statement is true for the Supra with the 2JZ mainly due to the fact that the blocks are cast iron which can take quite a bit more than an alloy type block. -
Sorry to hear about that mate. There is some serious scum out there. This is the second time I've heard of something like this happening to a Sportivo: Sportivo side skirts and badges Stolen
-
Sure is. I figured that if I was getting the TRD, I may as well get the higher spec one. Also, I just had to make sure I got the Smart Entry. Always wanted that feature.
-
Actually I'm half Asian. I just grew up learning how to get out of things. If you aren't able to do that... then you weren't sneaky enough.

Difference in TRD Aurion and Aurion Sportivo
DJKOR replied to fookah's topic in Aurion / TRD Aurion Club
Another thing the TRD has that a non-TRD Aurion has is a transmission cooler. Also, as SupaTouring has stated, the SL version of the TRD has a slight difference: Also located inside underneath the A/C controls. -
wise decision.. :) Definitely a wise decision. Parting with a good car is always something that is hard to do. It's best to save yourself from the feeling of doing so by keeping it. Unless you are selling it to get something much much better.
-
I will try my hardest. This is going to be a great car. 2 of them. The passenger side curtain airbag, and the passenger seat airbag. Yeah... I figured I will give you that luxury Nah, the silver one is the wisest choice for me I reckon. For the condition it is in combined with the price and mileage, I definitely have no issues with the colour. Hopefully it does. This guy seems to know a fair bit about sorting stuff like this out from his work etc.

Brisbane Meetup (Every Thursday 9pm)
DJKOR replied to Danthuyer's topic in Previous/Past Club Meets & Events
I'm still in Adelaide for the next two weeks so count me out. On the bright side, I shall be there the week after with a new toy -
I would give you $100 if you can get an extra 90HP out of the Aurion without going FI and for better value than buying a TRD.
-
The problem here is that it is hard to find people here who have done headers for their Aurion. As far as I recall, there is only a couple of people here who have done so, and have not yet disclosed full details of it. It's not easy to advise whether your intended changes will actually result in an increase in power. That would have to be determined by a before and after dyno. As for not causing any issues, this would come down to how good your exhaust shop is. I don't see any reason why you shouldn't be able to get it to work, but if it was to throw any error codes, your exhaust shop would have to be skilled enough to determine the cause and resolve it. In my personal opinion, the 2GR-FE is a pretty touchy engine and may be difficult to get some serious gains from it without going FI. For the cost of it all though, I would predict the gains to be somewhere around 15HP the flywheel based on results obtained from the guy who made headers for his 2GR for the MR2 he was putting it in. I think the main issue that needs to be worked on to get the most out of this engine is the ECU. If you can get a custom ECU or piggy-back, I'm pretty confident that you would be able to get some positive gains.

There is no plastic cover on it. Edit: Just to show what I meant earlier about the light assembly... you can see so here:

This one sure was shiny and it was only given a wash by Toyota. The paintwork was just so perfect. My only issue with it is that it appears to have 20% window tint. It was seriously dark. Looked great, however I'm not comfortable having a window tint that is illegal. So I guess that will have to be sorted out when I get to Brisbane.
