    We got hacked?

How did it manage to make itself a moderator?
  2. I guess I'll try next time., I'm not good when asking for stuff like that. Closest airport to Pokolbin/Cessnock where they need me to fix a few things from last week.
  3. These new cars can be pretty touchy. I was speaking to a Toyota Tech when mine threw like 6 different ABS/VSC sensor codes for no apparent reason. He said the sensors can be 'confused' by things as simple as rolling back at a set of lights. HAlf the codes they throw are harmless. It's only when you get a Check Engine Light immeditely after clearing the codes and starting the engine that you should be getting worried about. Slightly less worrying for those that trip when you hit about 60km/h after resetting it.

You can take the door switch out (held in with a screw) and then take some sandpaper to the part of the mechanism that makes contact when the pin if pushed out (when the door is open). The metal carbons up a little and loses it's conductivity. Common thing to happen on those style switches (because the pull current of the light goes through it) on a car of that age. My ol Camry did the same.
  5. Parked here at BNE ParkLong early this morning.... and then when I got to Newcastle, I picked up a facelift ZRE sedan. To make matters worse, it is an auto. Fark this thing is gutless. I think my hand drill puts out more torque.
  6. I agree with everyones opinions (there are good reasons supporting the arguement as well as against it), but I am more towards the idea of skipping the homepage all together. About the only thing this site offers... and offers it well is it's forum. There are many news sites out there if you want such. Otherwise this place will become like many blogs out there that just repost the same stuff other sites do and even link to it. For the purpose of this site, more attention should be directed to the forum itself and skipping the homepage would be ideal. When I first came across this site, my search term was 'Australian Toyota forums'. I was directed to this forum, and that was it... search complete, no complaints. At the end of the day, I'm not getting all hyped up about it. Sure things could probably change, but why get so worked up over something when it's not going to change the world. The majority of people are already satisfied as it is and unfortunately getting heard above the crowd can be difficult. So I don't see a change happening anytime soon. As with most things, if you don't like it, you can walk away... no harm done. Exact same statement applies back at you as well in this discussion. Only difference is that I don't care if no ones cares what I say.
  7. Did it disappear after several seconds or as the air temperature changed? I'm not sure the exact dynamics about it but it's something to do with water vapour in the air. I wouldn't be panicing unless it did smell like burning. Sometimes during takeoff on a commercial airliner, you can see the same effect in the air conditioning stream flowing like a smoke curtain from the ceiling to the floor on the inner sides of the plane. Similar to opening the freezer as well. It's a form of condensation that's somewhat different. If the conditions are right, it can get even more serious looking:

Whoa. Size 7 was a little crazy :P As you know, turning it up to 90 degrees clockwise will open the boot and the key can not be removed until the key is returned to it's original position. Well, the cancel function means putting your key into the boot key slot and turning it 90 degrees anti-clockwise until the key clicks and locks in that position, and then you remove the key with it in that position. Essentially what this does is disable the remote boot release feature which is the cable release next to the drivers seat.
  9. The head unit can run the speakers with no problems. The key here is that the head unit won't run the speakers to their full potential, which you will need an amplifier to do. If you go to the effort of getting an amplifier though for your speakers, you may as well change your head unit at the same time to one with RCA outputs for the amplifier. If you take a trip to Jaycar after measuring up all the cable you need, you would only need to spend like $50-70 on cables, fuse holder, fuse, and connectors. For the purpose of a sub, one of those $25 line out converters will do the trick for just a sub. Spending any more on cables and a line out converter is your choice on whether you want to go that far or not.

Of course I am agreeing, otherwise I wouldn't have said "if you attempt this method". I was just giving a tip so that the OP doesn't try it only to find out the next day that it didn't fix the problem. Then he has to try it again etc, hence why I said "to save time and hassle". Can I not give a useful tip (in this case, based off your statement) without it seeming like it's over the top? Personally would you prefer to fix something first time?

in my gen4.5 the dimmer worked, although i never found use for it! Yeah, my dimmer worked as well. Killed the LED's after a while though when left at 3/4 brightness. Learnt my lesson after that.

Shhhh. You can't put it this way to him. It's the constant s*** we give him that leads to this type of stuff. We've been bugging him for a while to get the tune. Mod plate.... now that's another story. Pffft. NA all the way.
  13. Yeah, lets put up news about the Toyota Recalls. That ought to keep people happy Sure the page is old, but it doesn't seem to be stopping people from registering on the forums. I don't think anyone is in a rush to freely update it. Steve is a pretty busy guy you know.
  14. The Aurion is not a Prius. No need to bring panic and anger into the Aurion thread. Our brakes are fine.
  15. I've had my side mirrors fog up on the occasional cold morning. I have never seen the need for having fold in mirrors.
  16. Helps prevent them from fogging up.
  17. Sure do: +  I'd help you take your dash out and fit your unit if only I wasn't heading back to the Hunter Valley tomorrow.
  18. Glad to hear you are satisfied mate. Thank the dropping prices in electronics for why you can now get more features for the same price. Also BTW, those rear plastic things for the seatbelt are for smaller/younger passengers so the seatbelt holds against them better. I'm still quite not a fan of the new Sportivo front end. Something just doesn't quite look right with the skirt. Also looks less unique than the original Sportivo's did. All personal opinion though.
  19. alex-C... I believe that this may not be quite what Dutchie was looking (though useful for others). Because he has the HID's with auto-levelling, the light control ECU does a little bit of work to keep the headlights level and the effects of lowering can throw the sensors off causing it to level incorrectly. For a little bit of insight, you would have sensors attached to your suspension similar to that shown below (from a different car) and these detect the position of the suspension to adjust the headlight accordingly: That adjustable link method shown and linked to in the first post essentially changes this link for the sensor to give readings like factory spec.
  20. Bugger. At least it's only got in your way as a detour and you still had other options to get you where you want in the end. I envy your patience. I would not be able to wait that long for something like that.
  21. Damn it. This thread now has given me the urge to upgrade my HTC. I'm really wanting that Satio now after seeing some sample photos and video. Only problem is I will have to buy it outright since it's not available on contract here yet. I usually prefer the contracts because if you get it matched right (ie. I'm with 3) and use the right cap, the phone ends up being free. ... Or I can sacrifice the xenon flash and have to live with LED, then wait for a SE Xperia X10 with it's 480x854 screen resolution or the SE Vivaz with its HD 720p video capture resolution. Hmmmm. Edit: Mmmmm. Wouldn't it be nice. A Sony Ericsson with the 480x854 resolution screen of the Xperia X10, the 12 Megapixel camera resolution of the Satio together with it's xenon flash, and the 720p HD video recording of the Vivaz. Now that would be great.
  22. When you listen to a lot of trance/techno/dance... most of which has no lyrics, TrackID is the bomb. Also narrows it down to remix etc. Even works in some live performances... plus has higher sensitivity. Can work on the last 3 seconds of a song even. Want to know the reason why? Sony owns Gracenote and therefore has an EXTREMELY large database to work off. Anyways, as for the GPS thing, if you get a Windows Mobile smartphone, you can put software onto it like TomTom or iGO8 which runs completely independent of an internet connection. What you need though is the Sony Ericsson Satio . Actually, that's what I need and am thinking of upgrading to: Apart from TrackID, I really miss having a xenon flash on my phone. Come to think of it, I really loved my old SE. People would always comment on how good the photos were that it took.

    Little Rants

Seeing something like this: Please wait a few seconds for Video to Load!Excuse me while I go out. I have the urge to punch something.
  24. Ouch. That's a bit of a bummer. ETA yet on when you will get it get it fixed or are you not in that sort of a hurry? Two statements that go together to form a LOL... sorry: Even if it's unrelated, it's still funny. Once again.. sorry.
  25. Varies on where you get it done but for a guide, I payed $79.20 for a strip, fit, and balance for all 4 wheels/tires at Bridgestone. This was with no tire disposal. For that you add about $2-3 per tire.
