I can't help you on the overall recommendations, but I will say this... DON'T get a button clutch unless you really only intend on racing your car or drive it hard on a daily level. Button clutches are basically either engaged or disengaged... no in-between.

What... you didn't think it was possible (thanks SuperDave for the pic):

Kind of defeats one of the original purposes of pay TV though. I used to love our free satellite TV... up until they changed it to digital

Evertime I go to Sydney, I always end up going along Pennant Hills Road I think it is. I thought Brisbane roads were bad. And yeah, epic thread revival.

I agree with you on how people say it should have been FWD/AWD, etc etc. It has been designed, and then canned. There's no point stating the obvious design changes the TRD should have had. Enjoy it for what it is or buy something else. And as you say, it mostly comes from those that don't have one. Those I've spoken to who own a TRD appreciate it for what it is... not complain about what it isn't.

Okay. I figured it could be a while before someone looks under their facelift, so I went in today to talk to my mate at my local Toyota parts department and had a look on his computer. As was expected, the fog lights with the following part number are valid fog light part numbers for all grades of the ACV40 (Gen 6 Camry) and GSV40 (Aurion), both pre-facelift and facelift including the new Camry Hybrid: 81210-06070 : LAMP ASSY, FOG, RH 81220-06070 : LAMP ASSY, FOG, LH

Depends on your area. I can only suggest a trusted tint shop in the Brisbane area. Best having a look through the other forums around here. The 'Inside and Out' forum is a good one. If you do a search there, you will find suggestions for Sydney, Melbourne, and WA. You can get 17" combos starting from around $899 from Tempe Tyres if you click on the link in my last post. You will see the banner on the home page and the wheels they offer with. As for which wheels you can get, it depends on the size combo you want and for this, you are best researching yourself because individual taste comes into play when choosing wheels. Remember to look around at other tire/wheel shops as well. Be prepared to take your time if necessary. There are some similar 16" wheels available, but you have to look around. I won't research your own wheels for you... that's your task. A starting point if you want to go down this track are the Toyota Genuine 'Raptor' wheels like -DAvo has: Absolutely not. Lowering it is good to balance out the look, but if you are increasing your wheel size whilst maintaining wheel/tire ratio (which you pretty much have to do when upsizing wheels), then there is no requirement to lower your car.

Congrats on the purchase. I would recommend letting these tires wear out then getting a new set in a larger size, or getting a new larger set and try to flog off the old set for whatever you can get. There are many wheel and tire combos out there that are well priced and would be more worth the end result. One place to check out would be Tempe Tires: http://www.tempetyres.com.au/ Otherwise, if you must change your wheels now whilst keeping your current tires, then find a set of wheels that have no dish whatsoever and are as flat as possible. Such example of a wheel (but not specifically these ones I'm recommending... mainly because they aren't available in 16 inch) are B.Boss Eleanors: The flat look with the spokes extending right to the tire will give the illusion of a larger wheel. Otherwise, if you get a wheel that is more open in its design, try to find one with the smallest centre hub you can find as this gives the illusion of a larger wheel as well. As for the tint, the ideal recommendation would be a 35% tint since this is the darkest legal tint and you will never have issues with it. That said, at your own risk, you can get a 20% tint which will be nice and dark to cut out the heat and give privacy, but is not overly dark so you can still drive at night with it. If your eyes aren't that great though, driving at night can be a little fun. You need to bear in mind that this level of tint is illegal, but on a newer car like this, it will be less likely to be picked up by a cop. It also helps if you have the tinting shop write up a receipt stating that it was a 35% tint just to help you in a sticky situation. As said, it is an illegal tint, and doing that is at your own risk. So basically, 35% is what I recommend if you want to have it by the book.

As far as I'm aware, there are no specific regulations when purchasing tires overseas and having them shipped to Australia for use. It's quite common for used tires to be shipped over to Australia from Japan (due to their cars being retired early) and then being sold here for cheap. If we can purchase and use these tires, I don;t imagine there would be any issues with new tires. I guess the one thing you need to keep an eye out for is what tires you get and the conditions they were designed for. Australian roads are pretty harsh and a particular tire you purchase from overseas may end up wearing faster than expected if they were designed for different conditions. Also as well, because the tires take up a fair bit of space, the costs you save on the tires themselves may not be that great after you add shipping to the equation.

And someone posted this up on BoostCruising in thread asking "Show me your vl turbo pics @ info on car thanks". I LOL'ed:

Do you get it during any hard cornering? Also, do all your door switches work like they should? Individually open one door at a time to make sure the light turns on like it should. If one door doesn't trip the light, this would be the switch that I would look into. Something like this could indicate that the grounding wire that connects to the switch has come loose and during your hard braking, swings till it contacts bare metal. If all your door switches function like they should, then test each door switch one at a time by pushing in the door switch with your thumb and then jiggle it a little to see if your light flickers briefly. It could be possible that the door switch is just playing up and during your moderate to hard braking, the switch is making contact to ground. It's pretty much trial and error with those I guess. It may not be the door switches, but it's a starting point.

Phew! I thought I was missing it, so I quickly flicked my TV on and I see that it starts at 7:30pm. Thank you QLD time and thanks for the heads up. I guess I'll see shortly if they keep the HD bitrate up or not. I'm guessing that they are taking advantage of the fact that they will have a fair few people tuning in so they can throw in lots of advertisements.

On the topic of timing belt changes, you may want to change your cam and crank shaft seals while you are at it. It's one of those things that is a wise thing to do at the same time. Otherwise if these start to leak later down the line, you would be wishing that you changed them when you did the belt.

Chance to vent about idiotic drivers
DJKOR replied to 2008camrydriver's topic in General Toyota & Other Car Discussions
People that ride their brakes all the time. As well as those that think it's all well and good to pulse their brakes like twice every second while riding their brakes. Then those that can't stay in their damn lane while following the curve of the road. So annoying when you are in the lane next to them and they creep over into your lane and you can move to the right any further because of on-coming traffic. FFS. As well as those that can't even stay in their lane on a straight section of road. -
Thanks for the link. I have bookmarked as well. I don't need any for the time being since I am well satisfied with my eBay ones, but if and when they cark it, I will have a look into that site.

This discussion sounds all so familiar: Who is the Moderator of this Forum section? Which led to a poll asking is we should appoint a moderator for the Aurion board or just keep it the same. Obviously the 'keep it the same' option got the most votes, so here we are I guess. Although as you have mentioned Jeff, the board has gained popularity since that time so it could be something to consider. I'll put my hand up to offer to take on this roll should a decision be made to appoint a moderator for this board, but don't want to take away the opportunity from someone else to nominate for this potential position.

I went to that site and couldn't be bothered registering. I figured it would have involved some kind of artistic ability right? I'm not good with that.
-
I wouldn't see why not since keeping it the same would be a wise choice in terms of costs. Would have to get someone to have a look at the part number on theirs, otherwise I'll ask on my next trip to Toyota.

Well technically it is a speaker. Much like how they count those tiny front tweeters on the cars that use them. Yeah it sucks, but what can you do.
-
As extremely stupid as it is doing it on public roads, I'm giving a small amount of credit for some skill.

That was more directed for Mecha-wombat mate.

If there was a problem, it would stay on. The flash that you get is most likely caused by the amp getting a bit of a voltage drop than surge (not bad) when the car is started. I get that from my stock head unit and aftermarket Auspack unit driving the speakers. If you are using the line-out converter, it is going to pick up on this unless you get a LOC with the appropriate filters like a JL Audio CleanSweep.
