  1. You sure can turn off the VSC and Traction Control. ABS is a little iffy. Apparently it should turn off when you turn VSC/TC off but from experience I have found that mine tends to stay on. If all else fails, there are relays and fuses that can be removed.
  2. Sounds like a fun learning experience. I expect the HMAS Aurion would be sliding around like it's on ice, but it should be fun nevertheless.
  3. ^ Thanks for pointing that out, but if you look closely, you will find that the Camry dash is assembled differently and individual pieces come apart rather than the complete centre console like the Aurion.
  4. If possible, don't forget the before dyno run as this will give an indication of the actual gains from the Motec.
  5. This is my opinion as well. To me, having a scoop on the Aurion would just seem out of place. Personal opinion though I guess.
  6. I will be waiting impatiently for this. Would you be kind enough to give us at least a hint of which Motec you would be fitting and if this will disable any features on the car?
  7. Count me out guys. As much as I would love photos with you all, I will still be on the road to Brisbane at the time. At least I have photos from here (thanks Charlie): The one night I'm not there, I miss out on the 0.05% chance of seeing the Soarer :P
  8. Plus by getting your own, you can get more blue ones like 6000k for a good balance between looks and functionality or 8000k for style. Also, don't order through a retail store. You will end up paying more than what you can get by buying them directly online.
  9. This is why JIN mentioned: That's about the best way to explain it. Use a torch and look at the bottom of the grill. It will then be obvious how the bottom clips stick into the bumper.
  10. That's what I think as well, but the media etc is trying to push that it is the pedal causing the problem. They are saying that the pedal itself gets 'stuck' which I find a little difficult to imagine because the mechanism is so smooth. Unless the inernal spring comes loose or something... but I would imagine that if that was the case, it would NEVER return, and then investigation after a crash would show a faulty pedal. Then they are trying to say that maybe it is a friction thing which is affected by temperature, but I can't imagine that occurring as well. But hey, I can only say my views on it. Those that say it's an ECU issue... well I would imagine their pedal wouldn't be getting 'stuck' like they say. An un-responsive pedal would be more what you'd get. Oh wells. I still don't have any issues with Toyota.
  11. That's alright. It's good to know that I'm that well know
  12. Yeah, they've had that there for a while now. Jeff was first to pick up on that: Those bastards Seems like others as well like my advice : Auspack - Audio Removal Guide Aurion/Camry
  13. With that statement, I am also wanting to say the following. If the pedal is a fault due to it sticking, it annoys me as well that Toyota is getting all the blame for it when they aren't the ones that are making the pedal on the cars that are affected. That's if the pedal is at fault.
  14. No way man. That's overboard. The most I would spend on just changing exhaust tips would be around $30-40 per tip and a total of $50-75 on labour... at the most. That's sticking with pre-designed tips. When you say customised... do you mean having your own design tips? Or do you mean as in just having them cut off the old ones and weld on new ones? If the latter, any exhaust shop can do that for you. Some carry a range of tips, otherwise just go to an auto store and see what they have.

    Valentine!!

Those are random chicks on strangers... Plus about 90% more risky. At least this "promotion" is somewhat "cleaner".
  16. The title says it all: The TOCAU Aurion FAQ: Look here before asking; especially about TRD parts (Updated 11/01/10)
  17. Because... it is. I would even bet it's cleaner than yours :P As for today's effort, I fed her some Ultimate to keep her happy.
  18. Shame you didn't spot them at said meet.
  19. I'd highly suggest for future reference, should this occur to any portable electronic device, to use methylated spirits instead. This would provide the same cleaning effects and would dry with no residue. Much cleaner to work with as well. If drying in the sun is not a possibility or you really want to make sure it is dry, fill a cup with uncooked rice and wedge the circuit board in there for a little while.
  20. Those are some great photos there Charlie. I am always envious of skilled photographers like yourself that can capture such great detail. Even more amazing was the fact that it was reasonably dark as well. Many thanks mate for your time to take all those photos. Was great to meet ya as well :D
  21. Not stupid at all. This Varex has a flange welded onto it which would allow it to directly bolt up to a prefabricated exhaust system, but for the Aurion, they will need to create some new pipework to a flange that is on the back of the Varex. Would only be a hundred bucks or so of pipe and welding. That said, Varex now have some more universal designs that have no flanges at the back and no tips at the front to allow you to have it set up how you wanted.
  22. It seems to be limited to the US which always makes me wonder for a moment. Anyways, I've had my say in speculation over here: Seems that Toyota Engineering stuffed up! On that topic of things, then you've got that VVT-i oil line issue? There were all these cases in the US with regards to it, and this led to them replacing them here. But the question exists of how many cases have you heard if this problem occurring outside of the US. I guess the US supplies of parts must be of a lower quality somehow. Either way, I personally think the accelerator isn't the problem, but I'm not going to say any more. I just like to think a bit differently.
  23. In all seriousness though, most automotive remotes of decent quality have a seal in them to help make them water-resistant (ie. splashes, rain, etc) but due to the design, they can usually take a more than that. Considering the things keys can go though, having a seal is just common sense really. Even the standard Toyota remotes can take the occasional dunking: On a side note, for really low power electronics like that, even if the insides did get wet and it stopped responding, all you would need to do is dry it out and you would be able to get it to work again (providing the battery is still okay). Electronics on a scale like this are pretty hardy these days. I've put USB drives through the washing machine and dryer numerous times and they still work.
  24. You can't really predict this unfortunately. You main variable is the type of people there who are bidding on it. People tend to do stupid things at auctions and even end up paying more than what they could have if they purchased outside of auction.
  25. Drove her to Sydney (from Cessnock), gave her a bath the best as I could with the given resources, then took here to the Sydney monthly meet at Villawood where she got to socialise with a bunch of Corollas. On a side note... unique: I retract any previous statement I said about my car being clean. I was in well over my head. I vote -DAvo as having the cleanest Aurion around... without a doubt.
