  1. I would just say from above normal wear and tear as to be expected. At least it's just worn in a fashion that it just has excess play in it and it isn't grinding like other cases. I think I have subjected it too way too many Nebo runs, add on that my drive to Melbourne via the bumpy Newell Highway at speeds in excess of 160km/h... and the many trips to Hervey Bay with a bumpy road on return.... plus my car was flooded. I think at 86,000km... the bearing has held up quite well.
  2. Unfortunately you will find that these won't fit. The TRD grill is physically smaller than the non-TRD grill.
  3. Continuing on from my previous attempt to find the cause of my squeaking... I can definitely confirm it is my rear left hub bearing. I raised that corner up and with the wheel still attached, I grabbed it at the 12 and 6 o'clock position and checked for any play. There was a significant amount of play and from here I found the squeak. I knew it was related to the brake pads (since it disappeared when I lightly apply the brakes) but didn't quite pin point the exact spot. This sucks not being at home because if I was, I would simply order the bearing and fix it straight away. Instead, I need to find a way to silence the squeak until I get home. Those that were there on the recent Sydney meet would know how bad it is. Anyways, the squeak is isolated to the little spring clip thing at the top of the rear pads. As the rotor turns (not perfectly straight), it pushes the pads back and forward ever so slightly causing that spring clip to vibrate against the calliper. So I've greased it up, so I'll see how long that will last before the metal rubs all the grease off.
  4. For ease of reference (future searching), here is the remaining discussion: Alert to V-6 owners - possible oil leak! 2GR-FE VVT-i Oil Line Replacement (DIY for those who are willing) As far as I'm aware, there isn't actually a service bulletin out.. but then there is only so much my local dealer can let me know. They are aware of the issue and seem to fix it on a case-by-case basis, but there isn't really anything stating that they must change it before the leak occurs.
  5. I definiteness will not be there tonight. Still down here in Canberra.
  6. What I don't get is that if Holden and others are saying that their direct injection is more fuel economic, then why didn't Toyota use the 2GR-FSE in the Aurion? Just that part of me that wanted the extra power I guess.
  7. Certainly looks interesting. I wonder how it would look in keeping with the flat black like the original sports grill. Must resist temptation to try it out.
  8. Those are good words of wisdom as well. I do think about that sometimes as well. Mainly when I see the black car bras. I think to myself, why get a good looking front end if you are only going to hide it most of the time. My car has built up some battle scars, but it's accumulated to the point that I start to care less about them now. It is my daily drive after all. It's just one of those things that you wish you could prevent.
  9. A bonnet protector would be a wise and functional idea. After all the driving I have done, that is one thing I wish I bought... as well as a clear car bra. Now I need a respray.
  10. Just keep the blade as flat as possible against the glass with even pressure and you will be fine. Hard to do damage unless you slip and hit the paint.
  11. Go the unique badging. As for being straight, you need a zoomed out view. Badges in that position are a little difficult to gauge because that light above it isn't perfectly level itself. It all depends on which line you want to follow. If you make it exactly parallel with the tail light, you get something that looks like this: ZR6 In my opinion, it looks even more wonky that way which I even said so: Like I said though, it depends on the looks you are wanting.
  12. I was presented with an opportunity (legal of course ) and wanted to see what the speed limiter was. It does in fact limit at 250 as per the speedo but was showing 245 on the GPS which was about right at the time. Strangest feeling hitting the limiter. Was like gliding on a cloud. *** I do not suggest trying this. I take no responsibility for your actions should you choose to travel this fast. That said, I can safely say that I don't really ever want to go there again in my car. Once is enough. 220km/h on the other hand is another story.
  13. ASL is for Automatic Sound Level or whatever you want to call it along those lines. Essentially, the purple wire carries a pulsed signal which is basically the same as what your speedo receives. When ASL on your stock unit is turned on, it will automatically increase the volume of the stereo the faster you drive. This is to help compensate for the extra road noise associated with increased speed. When you connect an aftermarket head unit, unless it has a specific feature to take advantage of this, this wire will no longer be used. The park brake override is common practise among those that fit aftermarket DVD units themselves and it is just as simple as connecting the park brake sense on the head unit to ground as you have mentioned.
  14. Was this from a standing start (ie. returned to your car after being parked in the heat) or just randomly while driving? If the former, heat from being in the sun for a while can sometimes make LCD's randomly play up a little. If the former, just keep an eye on it to see if it ever does it again. I wouldn't be overly concerned if it doesn't do it again. Could have been a minor power fluctuation or anything not so serious.
  15. Welcome mate. Great choice in car. Which state are you from? Just as stable at 245km/h :o :P
  16. Nothing you can do really except for living with it. The clearance on the bar is off by just the slightest amount and unfortunately will rub with the bonnet in two particular spots. I've tried putting some adhesive material between to try and reduce the rub, but it just wore through that as well.
  17. Well if you don't plan on going to the track to try and set records or doing extreme touge runs.... then the stock rotor size will be sufficient. After that, it's up to you if you want to spend more on something you will not take advantage of.
  18. Extremely happy. There are times when I'm driving around Nebo though and on the extreme downhill section I tend to get pretty ****** off when I run out of brakes while the Evo X etc all get away from me, but at the end of the day, it's just an Aurion. I can't expect miracles when using the same rotor and pad size. But as an upgrade, they are WELL worth it.
  19. Speedz appears to be touchy about this subject. Trying to back up the Chinese cars eh :P :P :P Just joking. Each to their own views. I'm up for Chinese manufacturing... I just personally wouldn't buy that ute.
  20. Video says it all: Please wait a few seconds for Video to Load!
  21. Hope it doesn't have lead paint on it
  22. More Aurion's FTW:
  23. Last night I dirtied her up driving on a dirt road yet again. Also managed to run over a poor little bunny that decided to hop onto the road. Felt kinda bad after that. Today I didn't do much to it as it sits parked here in the carpark, but I was driving the other day and noticed that the annoying squeak that I had coming from my left rear wheel has returned. I originally thought it was due to cracked brake pads (though this most likely amplified the noise cause it's much quieter with the new pads), but now that the noise has returned, I think it is caused mainly by something else. I lifted the rear up earlier to try and take the rotor off to see if something was sticking inside, and I may possibly have found the cause. I'm no expert on the subject but when I take the brake calliper off, is my hub bearing most likely stuffed if I can jiggle it around and it moves just a small amount (enough that jiggling it quickly will make a knocking sound)? The bearing rotates smoothly with no grinding/squealing and there is no vibration while driving. I'm suspecting that because of this, it doesn't turn exactly straight and the disc makes contact with the pad at a particular point of its revolution creating that squeak.
  24. Also easily researchable by going to Toyota's website: http://www.toyota.com.au/corolla/specifications
  25. Yeah. Get that one quite a bit. It's just one of the many different rattles that have been noted on the Aurion: Rattles in your Aurion
