  1. Don't listen to this advice, it is wrong. He is trying to get you to buy automatic transmission oil. There are many manual transmission oils an 75W-90 would be fine. Toyota Genuine manual transmission oil is fine, or this(which I have used and am more than happy to recommend): http://www.nulon.com.au/products/Gear_and_Differential_Oils/Full_Synthetic_75W-90_Performance_Smooth_Shift_Manual_Gearbox_and_Transaxle_Oil/#.Um9K2SHPtow There are a couple of Toyota manual gearboxes that do use ATF though.... WOT??? ST204 Celicas and SW20 non-turbo MR2s come to mind...probably the same S5x gearbox though. The ACV36 manual is the E351 transmission, the S53 & S54 are 75W-90 as well.

  3. Spot on Ian, ensure you never mix and match otherwise fitment will be out of alignment.
  4. The wear looks like fairly heavy piston slap. The carbon could be from a rich running engine, or poor quality fuel being used over a period of time. It wouldn't hurt to have the crank crack-tested as well, especially since that bearing has let go.
  5. Rearward facing lights should only be red or amber in colour, unless of course, it is a reverse light.
  6. Remember, Workmate, SR or SR5. Think carefully now, it's a difficult one I know, but you must concentrate.
  7. The steel may have had a defect and cracked, then let go over time. It was probably a cheap knock off, not a genuine item. As far as warranty goes, I doubt they will cover it after 3 years, if indeed it is genuine.
  8. Generally, a climate control system will use different sensors, compressor and pressure switches. You may get lucky and some of these may be similar, however, it would be best to go to a wreckers and compare what you have and what you need. As far as time, it could take ages or not long depending on the variables stated above.
  9. Vienta are the V6 models, whilst Camry are the I4 models. That being said there are some Camry badged V6's along with some V6's badged as Camry Vienta(these are generally the base models). Generally speaking though Vienta = V6, Camry = I4. In the United States and other countries, the Vienta badge doesn't exist, it is an Australian badge only(I am yet to see otherwise).
  10. If you cut springs, you deserve to be kicked in the face by a horse.
  11. Off the top of my head, I think it is on the DOME circuit.
  12. *idle Are all vacuum hoses in good order? A perished or disconnected hose can cause rough idling.
  13. Sell it. :P As Jeffy said, rear swaybar. You should be able to get out of it under $350 fitted, depending on price of the bar. http://www.whiteline.com.au/product_detail4.php?part_number=BTR39
  14. My two 1993 Camry's along with my Aurion have 10 litres in the tank when the fuel light comes on, Toyota have been doing this for years. I kind of like it because you start to worry you will run out of fuel, however, never do.
  15. When did you order them? They had a shutdown for a couple of weeks last month that might have slowed things a tad Nevermind, got it, expect around 2 weeks postage.
  16. I am still waiting for my Amayama bits, how long did your's take to arrive?
  17. Piston slap would be highly unlikely, realistically the engine should not have that much wear, even considering those kms. Could potentially be a timing chain/tensioner issue. I would strongly advise against purchasing that vehicle.
  18. Now you are aware of all of the above, you're welcome.
