It is time for me to renew my Insurance policy. I am currently with GIO which is at $2000 with NCD rating of 1 which gives me life time no claim bonus of 60%. I have checked around and found a company that offers the same with a very attractive premium. They're called Budget Insurance which is under Insurers Hotline. They offerred me $1400. That's a saving of $600 which I can save towards my turbo kit :P . Has anyone heard about this company? Are they any good? I am having second thoughts now coz I don't really know how reliable they are.

If anyone has any info or knows anyone who had a bad experience with this company please let me know. I don;t wanna be going with a dodgy company.

What Insurance companies are recommended. Please give me ur point of views.

Appreciate it!

ADR, U probably don;t live in a high crime area. I live in Cabramatta, Sydney. It's an asian ghetto full of junkies. That is why my premium is so high. I have quoted AAMI already and they offerred $1800. Still not too bad.

AAMI = $900 rating one as well. But I hear that AAMI mechanics are pretty dodgy. YHOu can't have your choice of repairer. Thinking about changing once it expires.

I'm with suncorp. They'll insure your car with mods so long as you're honest with them. Each mod accumulates certain points on their scale. Once your points are above a certain level your premium goes up a bit. You have a choice of repairers and generally found them to be the cheapest. But in saying that there are a lot of factors that affect your premium. Your age, where you live, is your car garaged securely, used for business and of course the age of anyone else who drives the car. It's funny how nobody wants to get older until insurance is concerned, then everyone wants to be 30+!!!! Luckily for me I'm at that stage and insurance premiums don't worry me anymore. Suncorp's premium last time I checked was about $1250 for a year and they do a monthly payment system as well. Hope this helps.

RACQ was much cheaper than AAMI. You guys are going to cry at the cost

1 x 2003 Sportivo plus 1 x 2001 Camry Csi = Premium $795.88 + GST $79.59 + Govt S/Duty $43.78 Total cost both cars $919.25

(The Sportivo was $531.85 with excess of $350 applys to over 25 having held licence for preceding 2 consecutive years)

;) I am with AAMI about $1,200 from memory living in Footscray VIC, a watered down version of Cabramatta, Sydney. ;)

Have you tried Just Car Insurance? underwritten by AAMI but for some reason I've found them to be cheaper than AAMI/NRMA/GIO

btw, I'm not far from Cabra eiither so I know wot you mean...

Blackrolla. I live in Fairfield and i know what you mean. whenever i drive past the station and have to stop at a red light i always lock my doors. My dad almost got car jacked there. Lucky his doors where locked.

anyway, the place seems to have improved. less junkies hanging around the station...they've all miagrated to other areas.

anyway, back to the topic...I'm with GIO and my premium is $2,800  i'm paying the most here.

CGU @ $900 - Rating one.... Also depends on age, I am over 25 so am OK, but when I bought the car it was 1 month to my 25th birthday and CGU was the only company that would quote me at a 25 y/o rate despite being rating 1 for 3 years and never even having a speeding fine (at least that was then) hence I went with them. When it came for renewal I checked around again and they were still cheapest for me.

im with racq 4 now, rating 4 and about 1100 a year, and they have a points system, u get 30 and each mod u do takes points, im up 2 20 :P and u can only lower ur car i think its an inch or inch and a half, i cant remember. i rang that budget place and they told me they would not insure my car because it is modded (lower springs) when i was rating 5 just cars said they would insure me 4 $1750 a year and would let me do ANY LEGAL mod 2 my stivo, but the only prob is u have 2 pay up front no pay by the month

With NRMA rating 1 65%NCB, 23year old paying $1400 by the month. Live in Illawarra, Shellharbour region. Just cars quoted me $1265 up front, no monthly payments. Unlimited LEGAL mods and premium rises a little with mods.

I am insured by CGU as well difference is that I work for them so they have insured the car with all the mods made to the car including the Unichip and Flywheel. I was a bit sus in telling them at first but asked the question and they said yes. Breathed a sigh of relief after that was ok'ed. Mind you they did up my premium by 25% and doubled my excess but I am still covered so can't complain I guess.

You can choose your own repairer with AAMI.

Carlos no with AAMI you can only go to their own repairers. A lot of panel shops will not touch AAMI cars. My father in Law has a body shop and won't touch AAMI insured cars. Apparently they dictate what parts the repairer has to use the repairer has no choice. So you could end up with second hand parts or Taiwanese cheap import parts. I have had that happen to me with a bonnet on a Lancer I owned so never insured with them again. But in saying that insurance companys will always try and do things on the cheap.

Hey,

CGU will not allow me to do any mods to my car appart from change my mags to one size bigger.... It sux's a bit, so will more than likely change to Suncorp as they will allow all the mods I am wanting to do.....

Um sorry to say Peekay

U are wrong

Im with Ammi and got to pick my repairer - and they did not force me to go to one of their AMMI Prefered Repairers

I am currently with AAMI and they are doing a great job with my mods. We have an agreed value of 3X,XXX for the car and all is good.

Until next year when they will manualy review my cover and more than likely suggest that I go to a specialist motor vehicle insurer like Just Cars or the lilke.

I put just cars to the test one day and asked them for a quote. They initialy came back with 29,000 as the agreed value for the car. I asked to talk to management due to the number of my modifications. .......they came back with 32,000 as the agreed value and I told them to go jump in the lake.

Shannons came back with a good agreed value, but wanted $1,900 for my car as it will be used as a daily driver and not only on weekends.

I will be hiring the services of a insurance broker next year to do the running around for me.

Oh BTW i am 25+ with rating 1 for life (no matter who i go with)

All my family have been with AAMI for years and with the last two bingles my dad's had, last one a year ago, we have always chosen our own repairer.

So AAMI do allow you to choose your own repairer, they just dont give you the whole "valet" service if you choose do so.

I pay about $580 with AAMI, lifetime rating 1/full NCB, but I thought I couldn't pick the repairer...

I was with CGU for about $600/year, but they cancelled my cover just for INQUIRING about mods!!

AAMI allows any 3 mods as long as they are street legal (which the strut brace is, but the CAI isn't apparently).
