The STUPID thread

My CD player in the Aurion started playing up today, ERROR 3 seems to be a popular one. I tried inserting another CD in there whilst pushing eject, and got nothing.

Should I try and get it repaired under warranty, OR should I use this as an excuse to upgrade to something with a screen :D

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions,

My stupid question:

I know track days are pretty aggressive on brake pads, but I changed my brake pads (QFM HPX) at about 75,000km and now am at around 77,000km. In that time, I did about 3 Nebo runs and 1 track day. Just took my pads off now to apply anti-squeal grease and noticed my front pads have up to 2mm of material left before the wear indicators.

This is a little too fast wouldn't you think?

Hey everyone,

i require people's opinions on what i should do...

THE DILEMMA:

I have owned my computer for some 8 or 9 years now, and would really like to upgrade.

However, i have a few options on what i should do...

1. Purchase a Complete Tower with running system all ready to go

2. Purchase a Notebook/Laptop for ease of use, and versatility

3. Build my own system from scratch and have it customised any way I would like.

Now what i require for 'the' system to do is capable of handling Photoshop, and not crash out, Gaming will be high on the priority, and also a decent Processor...

May I please have your opinions on what's the best thing to do/ your experiences?

Thankyou,

Evo

Go option 3. Can work out really cheap for high performance. That's what I used to do in the past.

Now I personally go for number 2 but that's cause I just need a computer for the forums and nothing else really.

If gaming and photoshoping are the two biggest needs then go option 3. This will give you the most performance and bang for buck.

one tip... If you get a x86 CPU get a max of 4GB of memory as anymore than that cant technically be used by the processor.. if you get x64 go for way more memory.

Alright,

so taking both of your advice, i have decided to go with build my own system...

now how am i to check what is compatible with what?

Here is the list of what i have chosen, and i am not sure about Hard Drive space and Ram.

(Using Umart Online)

Processor

Motherboard

Case

Power Supply

Graphics Card

As it stands, i don't require a new monitor, or a new mouse and keyboard...

So will these parts function with each other?

Thankyou for all your help :D

You have some broken links there Evo. And you seem to have missed out RAM and a HDD.

Sorry, links fixed lol :P

yes, RAM i am not too sure of what the difference is in brand names and sizes...

and HDD... is that the Hard Drive? I think i would go for a bigger then usual, cause i like to store alot of photos.

Budget not really worried about, but i don't need to go all out and spend big for what I am after.

whats the best way to debadge my car without scratching the paint?

Still using the traditional hair dryer and fishing line method. Just make sure you pull tension on the fishing wire towards you (and the rear surface of the badge) so it effectively does not touch the body of the car. This would probably end up leaving more adhesive on the body, but that's nothing Goo Remover/Eucalyptus Oil and a soft cloth can't remove. You will probably need to use a swirl remover/cut and polish afterwards anyways.
