nice looking rims mate btw how is the ride on the bc coils?

sean

@ sikwitit: The ride is much and much fine, definitely harder than stocks but I've got them set on setting 2 (2/30 where 30 is the hardest damper). She definitely sticks a lot more with the lower centre of mass though. A decent compromise I would say. But I used to drive an S13 with 8/6 kg/mm FR/RR respectively so that might not tell you much haha :P

Quick update, the rims were not actually on the cards, so I'm gonna lay off the modding for at least 2 months. But these were purchased about a week ago off a fellow forum member Jason [MRRUNX]

Had them delivered quick smart, definitely recommended as a seller. And the amount of cushioning he put into the box... lol Cheers mate :)

Thanks for the comments guys :)

Now for some bad news. Shortly after I just replaced my antenna (CX-7 one), and used thread locker to put it in this time in the hope that it wouldn't be easily stolen, someone decided to snap it off. So now the base turret is broken :(

A minor issue, but it annoyed me for a day.

Onto brighter news, attended an AHG driver performance training day. Some shots:

I learnt so much more about my car, the way she handles on the limits, and that sportivo brakes are actually pretty damn decent. *until they fade :P

Quick update, more for the purpose of keeping this 'blog' for my own references than anything else.

Managed to track this down, a lot harder to find at a decent price than I thought it would be. I even called the head office of Fuch's themselves to ask for distributors. And they seemed unsure as to whether this Super GTO was a fully or semi synth. If someone could clarify that for me that would be tops :)

182487_501126543385_714448385_6404694_3998888_n.jpg

Up till now, I've changed the oil twice (every 5000km), starting off with whatever stuff Toyota uses (some tell me its Castrol) from the previous owner as he had her serviced at Toyota.

First try was Penrite HPR 5 (semi-synth), while decent, it seemed to make the engine a lot noisier.

Next up I gave Castrol EDGE 5W-30 (fully synth) a shot, and this is what I had in during the skidpan day. From 'seat of the pants' experience I quite liked this one, but it worries me that Castrol themselves actually specify their 0W-40 for the 2ZZ. Cos for the price of the 0W-40 I'd be looking at something like Mobil 1 5W-30 instead. If someone could clarify this for me that would also be great haha.

That's it for now. Thanks for reading :)

Thanks guys ^.^

Quick update, dunno why it took so long for Toyota to find me the OEM filter, but we got there in the end. Just did an oil dump today:

Mileage: 86 xxx KMs

Oil used: FUCHS TITAN SUPER GTO 10W-30

Oil filter: Toyota OEM part # 90915-YZZE1

First impressions of the oil? It was a very hot day today (38 max), but to be honest the engine seemed to be noisier again (almost akin to the sound I got out of using the Penrite HPR 5). The previous Castrol Edge from last service still seemed fairly golden (even after the skidpan day) and was still nice and thin :)

I'll drive around for a few weeks before reporting back with my verdict.

Ruimond: I very much do love the look of the rear lip, its pretty pricey though isn't it? Next mod cosmetically I'm thinking of the grille, but that will be after getting my rear sway.

That's it for now, thanks for looking :) I have ordered a TWM shifter early last week so that should be well on its way. Will post up when it gets here.

Wow, I'm extremely pleased at TWMs shipping time :D :D :D

Delivered to my work address today.

Neatly packed with shrinkwrap.

First I got to install the new base bushings, here's a comparison between the stock rubber ones and the TWM alloy ones. Apologies for the iPhone fail photos...

The only gripe I had is the new bolts they provided were metric (1/2" from memory) to replace the 12mm stock ones. I'm lazy to change socket heads like that >.> haha.

Removing the stock shifter cap trying not to damage it was by far the hardest part (its made of plastic)...

182407_10150094106083386_714448385_6472859_3853067_n.jpg

Comparison: Features 40% reduced throw and 2.5" length reduction

Shifter-less haha

And here we go.

Thanks :) I haven't done the shifter bushes yet, TWM wanted about $60 for them and I think I read somewhere that you could make them out of skateboard bearings.

What do they actually do to the feel though? At the moment, i'm pretty satisfied with the shift feel, except when it is actually in the gear 'gate' it does have some lateral movement. Will changing the shifter bushings help this feeling at all?

Also reverse gear seems more of an effort to grab now. Do i just need to work out more? :P haha

This is awesome! :yahoo:

Have you done the cable shifter bushings? If you haven't, I highly recommend you do that. Eviltwin can help you out.

Somehow I think your car would outshine mine, Dave :P

They were just taken in the industrial part of canning vale, outside a warehouse on a Sunday afternoon. I'm always looking for good locations, and have been kicked out many a times haha.

nice ride, great example of a clean sportivo! love the DS! looks like its got good weight/feel behind it.

by the way, have you changed your rear speakers yet?

that.guy: No, I don't really have any intention of changing the rear speakers at this stage for the simple fact that most of the time, no one sits there. Any particular reason you ask?
