2zzge AE82 sedan conversion

Finally got the car running, fired right up after getting the trigger offset correct and idle duty sorted. For some reason the audio from the video recording of my phone is completely screwed up, in real life it's buttery smooth and exhaust is quiet but deep.

Need to tweak the acceleration enrichment to get the throttle response right but happy with it for the moment. Bay looks a bit messy as I've got the timing light setup in there and a few random temporary vac hoses and power cables.

I can't wait either, all the little stuff takes so damn long to complete though :P

Here's the finished instrument cluster, fitted out with speedhut gauges:

cluster's now fully wired in, here's a pic of the gauge lighting, I ordered them with red backlights to match the original twincam stuff. I couldn't get a pic showing the odometer properly, it's not that bright in real life.

No need to sit on the floor anymore... fitted AE92 levin seats to AE82 rails:

yep, 99% of the mechanical side of things is now complete. Work has started on my least favorite thing which is bodywork/paint. Took a slightly longer video of the car moving around before that though :)

Stripping the outisde surface of all the panels to bare metal to make things a bit easier:

car has now progressed to paint stage...

I stripped the rest of the body, doors, boot etc, welded up the aerial holes on the A pillar, welded a couple of spots of new metal into the boot lip where it had started to rust at the seam spotwelds, then prepped all the panels with a 3M purple strip disc to take off any surface rust spots from previous stonechips then scuffed the panels with 80grit on the random orbit sander.

Got the bonnet, bootlid, and doors all etch primed today with Dupont 840R Epoxy Primer Surfacer. Will do the guards and shell tomorrow if the weather's good.

whole car has been etch primed now, channels have had new seam sealer applied and I've started prepping the guards for the final primer coat. Gave all the guards a skim of evercoat gold filler to hide the hammer marks, then sanded 95% of it off...

after a massive stuffup last weekend with the paint (water in lines, ruined the last coat of 2K primer), I had to sand the roof and rear guards back to the etch layer and start again. Got it re-primed today and now have the shell ready for colour, I've got a few days off next week so will see how much I can get done.
