coilovers will let you dump the car on its ***** literally. Will cost about 2k to get very nice adjustable ones however... thats half decent.

Adjustable coilovers are the way to go, not only does the ride height become adjustable to what you want but you can also have much more comfort driving than using a standard old low spring.

What is your current wheel/tyre size?

Do you have a pic of the gap?

These are too small... that's your problem. About 4% if you have a sportivo by memory.

I got into an arguement with a guy in a tyre store that will remaim nameless over this, as he told me to go for these as they were cheaper and more common, but for one, they are not the correct load rating, two, not the right size so throws your speedo off by lots.

The guy basicly said I was an idiot and didn't know what I was talking about and told me I should listed to him as he's a professional tyre fitter. So prefessional that he didn't even realise that the Sportivo had a different load rating and tyre size to the standard corolla, and wouldn't listen to be when I explained it to him.

He lost my business... put me off buying wheels + tyres for a while... also missed out on getting a great set of wheels for my car too, and these guys are the only place I've found that sells them

I've got 215/40/17's with a load rating of 91. BTW rather have my speedo reading a little bit fast(about 4-5km/hr to be exact) as it gives you an extra buffer with the boys in blue!!

brendan - we were refering to his 205/40r17s not 215, 205/40r17 usually come with an 83 load rating, which is certainly not the recommended 87 <_< .

Your 215s should be out by about 0.7% by memory and have an extra 8mm rolling diameter on the 205s. These are a good along with 205/45r17...

215/45r17 will be just over the rolling diameter by 0.7% so you may just get away with it. They are pretty common tyres too and can be found pretty inexpensive with the correct load rating, but may scrub in some cases.

Even if u drop it 50mm like myself the gap is still huge ... sometimes i look at it.. it looks like bloody stock ... dunno why on other cars wen they drop it 35mm it looks heaps good.

Just adding my 2c

I've got 215 45 R17 C Drive Tyres (See My Gallery) Look ok and are just slightly bigger than standard 16 with 195 55. The difference at the speedo is probally less than the error in the speedeo to begin with.

Eg 215 45 R17 Diameter 24.62 inches

195 55 R16 Diameter 24.44 inches Standard

205 40 R17 Diameter 23.46 inches

215 40 R17 Diameter 23.77 inches

found a good site for calculations

With a 50 mm drop and stock or larger tyres you should have almost no gap anymore in the front. Anyway, I don't think I have a gap (cfr garage) and my tires are not even 1% over stock size. Dropped 2 inches with H&R springs. Compared to a completely 'normal' Corolla im WAY lower.

Do not forget that new springs have to setlle, expect easely 5 to 10 mm drop extra in the 2-3 weeks after they are installed.
