ouch!!!

That's going to be one VERY PAINFUL lesson in lift to who ever's receiving it.

Oh, and check out the intake manifold...there's very little space left in there.

How much do you reckon that would have cost?

Ive been thinking about putting a sportivo engine in my normal 2003 ascent rolla, no idea how much it would cost to do though or how I would go about doing it, anyone have any ideas?

hey skitzo

your not going to copy my car any more man :D

you have already stole my idea for the bodykit :D

let it rest with the engine

it would be cheaper to turbo the ascent

remember if you throw a 2zz engine in your ascent

you will have to do breaks gearbox and much more

would be more cost efficent just to do the turbo and work

with the motor you have

Mate, it'd seriously time that you consider selling your Ascent and getting a REAL Sportivo.

No offence to your Ascent, but if that's the car that you like, stick to it. BUt if it's the Sportvo that you like, I say go get one. The amount of money that you're spending on your Ascent, you could have gotten a Sportivo a long time ago. Throw another $5k for the engine (if you can find one 2nd hand) and you're looking at a very expensive Ascent that probably isn't compliant.

Just trying to help you make an informed decision dude.

Come on, say it with me..." I want to go and buy a Sportivo".

I agree with trd_141, put a turbo in, or supercharge it. That'll be cooler.

Well I was thinking of making the base colour black and getting eyelids... not to mention having your name enscribed on the side skirts... :D

Yeah I was just curious really, im up for supercharging my rolla... but ive no idea how nor where to go to get it done or anything.

Don't forget, engineers certificate, EPA certificates blah blah blah, wait a while, and buy a stivo. Must cheaper and wayyyyyyyyy lesssssssss hastles, also easier with Insurance Company.

That Echo was designed & built by a European design company & Yamaha Japan as a promotional vehicle.

It required quite some chassis modification to fit the engine which would prevent it being certified in most countries. Yamaha kindly sent me the build pictures a year or two back.

We're about to undertake a similar project in our workshop but with a blacktop 20V rather than a 2ZZGE.

This car will be for our 2WD National Rally championship.

Hi Bruce,

Do you know anything abouts its peformance ? Eg does it spin through all six gears :D  But seriously did they take it out and let it rip ?

Cheers

Bill

I would hate to feel how much understeer that little echo must generate. There must be some serious weight added to the front of that car. What a 75% to 25% front to back weight distribtuion.

But giving it some gas down the straight would be fun.

Sadly Bill, all the details were emailed to me when I had a previous laptop which has since been stolen.

I don't recall any acceleration figures.

The car appeared on a European Yaris Club website. There could be some information there. Sorry I can't tell you what it was.

Everyone repeat and sing with me...

Skitzo go with the blower

Skitzo go with the blower he he :D

Just don't forget to upgrade the brakes because you need to stop too ! ;)

But in all seriousness, don't turn your car into a money pit if you don't intend to keep if for a few years, if you want to go seriously harder, just upgrade to the more powerful model, once you've spent money on supercharging, drivetrain and suspension mods to suit, your 19,990 Ascent has become more expensive than the 29,990 sportivo.

That echo would be damn quick in a straight line but would be an understeering pig around corners, The engine/gearbox are not only heavier but wider, would seriously change the centre of balance
