  1. Last I checked, its stated explicitly in the Buy/Sell rules that only supporters can sell their cars on here. How much more notification do you need? You named your thread "forum etiquette". Would reading and understanding the rules before participating not be part of that? Anyway, if you don't want to pay the $30 to become a supporter, I'm sure the Trading Post or your local paper will gladly take your money.

  3. Looking for a dead Aurion/Camry satnav unit. Doesn't matter if its genuine or aftermarket brand, just need it for the fascia, buttons, etc. Also want to get hold of an Aurion climate control unit (dead or alive), so if anybody happens to spot one at a wreckers or whatever, it'd be great if you could shoot me a PM with the details of where to get it. Cheers.
  4. I was just about to mention the misinformation you've been given about the sunroof, but Adamsy beat me to it. Go down to your dealer and slap the salesman. What is it with those people? None of them ever seem to know half of what they're on about! BTW, further to Adamsy's comment about being taken off the line, if you have the sunroof option the roof panel itself is actually an entirely different part made with the sunroof hole already in it, isn't it? As for your towbar, yep, its a permanent fixture with the tongue poked through a hole in the bumper. Pictures below will give you the idea. (image stolen from CarSales) There are aftermarket removable products available, but they might be a bit pricey. You can remove the tongue of your factory one, but you need an impact wrench, or really strong arms and decent spanners, coz those bolts are pretty damn tight! You'll end up with just the hole left in your bumper, and you'll have to cable-tie the wiring harness to something behind the bumper out of the way. Just remember that when you put it back on you do those bolts back up nice and tight - last thing you want is to see your trailer overtaking you coz the tongue came off.
  5. $1.69/L. Bloody rediculous!

Cigaretes and petrol people are paying 80% tax

  6. Most gone. Few left. Now also on eBay.
  7. If it is fallout, I hardly think Toyota can be held responsible. They can't help what crap may get on your car during your day to day use. Especially after 14 months. Even if its clearcoat failure, its not necessarily a manufacturer defect. It may well be that the finish was substandard. But even something as minor as stone chips can cause it. Once theres a broken spot its easier for the coat to peel away from that spot. Think of it like having a blister, or sunburn. Once the skin has started to break away, its not hard to peel away more skin outwards from that patch. On your car, once the base coat is exposed, it doesn't have the protection of the clearcoat, and can deteriorate quite rapidly.

    Carbon Tax

Yeah, the timing of the annoucement with the recent disasters had crossed my mind, but not from the funding to rebuild perspective so much as the public acceptance perspective. Don't know if anybody saw Q&A on the ABC the other night, when Gretel Kileen (ignoring the fact that her claim to fame is as the host of Big Brother, which IMO gives her about as much credibility as the Wiggles in the world of serious political debate) banged on about how sudden and seemingly out of nowhere the announcement was. I sat there thinking, what better time to announce it than straight after being hit with major natural disasters as floods, when the public are feeling vulnerable and are more likely to swallow the climate change line. I have little doubt that petrol with hit $1.70. I just paid $1.65 for BP Ultimate.

    Carbon Tax

So, who else is sick of hearing politicians bang on about what Tony Abbott would refer to as "another great big new tax"? IMO, more than anything it seems like a bit of an opportunistic cash grab to try and fulfil their promise of surplus by 2013, while also trying to appear to be doing something about climate change. But I really don't see how its going to reduce emissions at all. I, for one, am not going to stop driving my car, start having cold showers, or cook my tea on a rock in the sun. I enjoy long cruises and not driving a Smart car, and I'll continue to do so even if it does cost me $1.70 a litre. Will you reduce your emissions on account of a Carbon Tax? Discuss.
  10. Interesting phone conversation had with Bolwell. Now awaiting info that could prove useful to the Aurion.

  11. I'm not sure what you're trying to achieve here exactly. I'm inclined to assume you're considering driving around with your park lights on. At which point why not just switch your lights to 'park' and your fogs to 'off'?
  12. Has anybody had to replace studs in their Aurion? One of mine is knackered, needs replacing. Simple as a knock out, knock in job, or am I going to have to remove the hub and get it pressed in?
  13. Perhaps find a reputable independent service shop? I take mine to an independent, and it only costs me about $130 including fluids. I'm going to start taking in my own parts and fluids so that'll knock the price back even more.
  14. OK then. If you go out tomorrow morning to find your car on blocks and your brakes missing...... it wasn't me... ;) haha where do you want me to leave the alloywheel lock nut tool? tied up somewhere just out of your reach? Impossible.... ...you can't reach that high! :P

  16. Which dealer is this?! For the price my dealer quoted me, I could post my rotors away to have them done for $60 and still have change! The going rate for a pair on car down here is $120+, even at non-dealer workshops!
  17. Holy sh!t thats expensive! I recently set up my olds with the latest maps for Aus and UK on their Tomtom, and it set them back less than $150 for both countries! Could you not buy the Whereis maps for another device cheaper and DIY them onto the Presara's SD card? In fact it seems Tomtom uses Whereis maps, so buying them cheap from Tomtom and putting them on your Presara's card should be pretty straight forward.
