  1. You can only keep dreaming with that one. It doesn't surprise me at all that this is not a recall item. If you notice, recalls are only typically done for safety related issues. This issue does not affect the steering ability of the car and therefore does not fall into the recall category. It is therefore treated on a repair as required basis. Damn, that is unfair to the people who experience this issue after warranty. Shame on Toyota though to not fess up and continue to let people drive around with a faulty shaft, safety issue or not.
  2. what have you been using all this time?! Sometimes I don't even wax, I just polish. But when I do wax I use Wet look
  3. I like RWD, sorry. But I have to put it out there  I have driven a RWD many times and always found steering to be much more superior then a FWD.
  4. Good to hear!! You must have had it particularly bad if you can notice it straight away. My car always feels more responsive when I get it back from the dealer. But then again, my car feels more responsive and faster after I clean it as well. LOL! I love placebo effect. I also noticed an immediate difference, but this is because my shaft was absolutely knackered. It would clunk at every chance it had. I'm so amazed that Toyota are not recalling this even though now almost every Toyota is experiencing this same problem. Unbelievable. Someone needs to speak up
  5. Top stuff. I really need to get myself some NXT 2.0 Wax!
  6. OMG... I think I just came. Speechless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. Was driving behind a VE SV6 on the freeway couple of days ago. These sit so nice on the road. The car just looks like it hugs the road. No body roll at all, everything looks pretty damn solid. I think Holden make an awesome suspension package compromising of great sports feel of the suspension as well as comfort. Why is there less body roll on these VE's compare to the Aurions?
  8. Thanks for the help. Yeah I'm aware of the hot & cold part. I checked twice each morning so I know that the engine is well and truly cold and the fluid was just below the FULL mark (for cold of course). How much should I expect to pay for a power steering fluid change?
  9. Unfortunate timing :( Toyota dealers should have some experience with this one, so if you speak with your dealer they should be able to tell you if the noise is a known one from the front dash pad clips. If it is, then they can quote you on the retail repair. It's a big job, so expect a price with too many numbers before the decimal point! Be nice and ask if there is anything they could do about the high price. If they can't and you're the hands-on type, the dealer might be able to help you out in ordering the parts and you can track down a repair manual ... Any idea if they would be likely to fix still only being 5 weeks out of warranty? Worth a try i guess?? Of course its worth a try, they won't bite your head off. I was 1 and a half months over my service advantage expiry but my dealer still honoured my $120 service advantage fee :). So it won't kill.
  10. I'll start of by stating which product I dislike which is the Turtle car care product line. I've only used two of their products and considering these two are a thumbs down for me I rather not go for any other product they sell. Firstly, their scratch and swirl remover is like soup, its just way to watery compare to meguiars swirlx where it is a really nice thick paste. The thicker paste is much better because the turtle stuff when used by machine splatters everywhere and since its too watery does not work as well as a thick paste filling in swirls. Same goes with the Turle wax, very crappy beading and too watery again. For a cheap car I'd use these products as I won't bother spending big bucks on a aging paint. I've only used mothers once and its not bad stuff. Can't comment much though since I only used it once, though I do have a brand new unopened canister of mothers polish which I'm yet to try out. So for me it's meguiars products. It's proven to withstand a lot and keep beading and protecting and leave an awesome shine.
  11. The power steering is running a tiny bit lower from the full mark. Probably about half a CM (just maybe a tiny bit less). Since its only a little bit off from the full mark should I top up a little to bring it to level or should I just flush it out completely and give it a service since its never been done anyway. Also, which fluid do I use? I want to get it from the dealer. Last time I asked at the dealer for power steering fluid the parts guy said they don't sell them in bottles? Not sure if he was correct or not. Thanks.
  12. Bad choice of words mate. Sigged now. Why? Pretty sure my words 'choice' were fair. Almost $640for engine oil and brake fluid is highway robbery especially for a job that takes about one hour. Lets say you did not supply your own fluids and they charged you $300, that is still $340 extra for fl00d. I really wonder what they're reason is.
  13. $640? I would have shoved those fluids up there a$$. I got the same quote from Melbourne city toyota. I almost told the guy to F off but I just said NO thanks and hung up straight away. What the hell are they doing, pouring liquid gold into our cars? wtf.
  14. Awesome idea. Time to stick it to these big car makers. Especially like Toyota where so many things are no electronic and require the dealer and they charge an arm and leg because they know they can.
  15. Of course 8 would be better. It's time to update. This site works perfectly fine (Running on latest update of firefox and IE8)
  16. When people compare build quality between the Commie and Aurion, what are you comparing it to? Interior, exterior, engine build quality, etc. Also don't forget, Aurions copped a lot of crap from people as well saying the insides rattle, creak, its all cheap hard plastics etc. I doubt the holden is worse. Probably on par with Aurion build quality(Parts wise). The engine and components I guess that is a whole different story as I only ever hear good things about the Aurions tranny and engine.
  17. yah no doubt it was me, but I wasn't tail gating anyone though. Just wanted to get away from the lunatic driver in the 4x4 pick up truck who came awfully fast up my rear end and suddenly swerved into the left lane at the last second coming to the traffic lights after the Shell Petrol station. Nah I didn't see you there. I spotted you when you were stopped at the broady station traffic lights. (corner of caltex)
  18. mm... when was this? MH traffic lights? I don't intentionally tail gate people dude. I worked too hard on doing the JDM black headlight mod just to have something happen to them by a random bloke/shiela jumping on their brakes in front of me. Yeah man it was definitely you, knew from your number plate and obviously the shiny and done up corolla. Was 8.30pm last night, you turned into meadow heights where roxy kebab shop is.
  19. No, but have you checked your power steering fluid? I was once on low power steering fluid on my old camry and I did not know until it made a grinding noise when I turned the steering. When I checked the oil it was almost empty, after topping it up the noise was instantly gone.
  20. Mate we have a 2010 ZR6,we looked at the SX6,but we settled on the zr for the; Leather trim, Auto tilt and heated external rear veiw mirrors, Rear powered internal sunshade, powered passenger seat,(auto slide, lumber and recline) auto rain sensing wipers, electro-chromatic internal rear veiw mirror, drivers seat memory with link to external mirrors, and the Smart start/entry feature, that way we dont have to worry about adjusting seats and mirrors each time the wife or I drive it as each key fob is programmed for each other and seats and mirrors adjust accordingly, hope that helps you out with abit of info, but do yourself a favour and instead of listening to myself and others get yourself down to a Toyota dealer and have a looksie first hand Damn! Toyota seriously pumped some big new features into the facelift models.
  21. It's actually been upped to $130. Edit: It's also 3 years/60K. It's never been 4 years :)
  22. Shifting feels good, prob the same as BKS's kit though. The reason I bought the TWM bushings was to try it out since I was buying the TWM SS package. Nice car man. It was nice seeing it in the flesh even though it was for a little bit. We cruised behind you all the way to the MH traffic lights. I can see you wanted to push it because you were tailgating every car in front of you but no one gave way <_<
  23. Thats pretty poor for a 4 cylinder. I found that there is no point in getting a big car like the camry 4cyl because it will most likely use the same amount of fuel as its v6 counterpart and the v6 might use less fuel on the highway/freeway since it sits on lower rpm. I had a camry 4cyl and it would drink fuel more then my aurion which is where i learnt my lesson to not bother with a 4cyl, but these are just MY observations. In regards to ECU reset, I did not notice any change but the main difference I noticed was the high smell of burnt petrol coming out of the exhaust on cold start ups. I've been filling 98BP ever since I got the car (so thats 6 months of BP98 and nothing else) and I would always get a strong petrol smell when i would start the car. After the ECU reset there was virtually nothing at all. Maybe the car decided to adapt to the different fuel mixture and configured itself with that? Not sure but it made a difference to the petrol when starting the car. Also now for the last 6 refills I've been using fuel doctor as recommended by djkor. my 2cents here.
