  1. If you're looking to upgrade your sound system, start with this. I know it's pricey but well worth the money IMO. If I had a current shape Aurion I'd buy one for sure lol... http://www.alpine.com.au/showItem.php?item_id=298
  2. In need of lowered springs...

  6. Ive got my 180k service in November or so. I found that chadstone Toyota are usually cheapest in the south east
  7. I have no model recommendations, but any aftermarket unit (not oem style) will require a facia kit. I suggest going for a double din unit, I love a nice looking, good quality display. Single din units with a facia look very out of place in the Aurions big dash IMO. As far as sound qulaity goes, you'll find the OEM-looking cheap units on ebay etc have similar quality to the original 6-stacker system. What I love about the cheapys on ebay is that theyre all plug n play, thus no wire splicing, soldering etc, Although you can buy an oem wiring harness kit to make it easier - but this is just more money. Also, most of them maintain the use of the steering wheel controls - My old Alpine needed an extra unit worth over $300 for this! If all you're looking to do is change your head unit, amps are not required. You'll only really need an amp if you're wanting to run high powered aftermarket speakers, subwoofers etc. If its any help, my plan is to use my existing ebay cheapy DVD/nav unit, add a large sub woofer and amp, using the stock speakers. If possible, I may add in an external graphic equalizer. If you need a hand with anything, PM me :) Here's a link to a review I did on my DVD/Nav system, I'm looking to update it as I come across problems and resolve them; http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/42814-advance-electronic-aftermarket-system-mini-review/
  8. My last drive on the great ocean road fetched 7.8L/100k on the HWY to Geelong, and 16L/100k while on the great ocean road as it calls for more "spirited" driving ;) Normal driving conditions, I sit on 10.3L/100k :)
  9. I'm currently running stock lighting on my 08 Prodigy, but had 35w 8000k (a little too blue when I look back at old pictures) HID parker lights and fog lamps on my old E46 BMW 3series. No cop attention at all, even with the over-sized wheels I had- I guess the lights looked like the HID option BMW offered. As for my Aurion, I'm planning on getting 35w 5000k or 6000k for the parkers and fog lamps, IMO this isn't too yellow or too blue.
  10. To be honest, they're all basically the same from the reviews and specifications I have looked at. If you're looking at a budget of 6-700, you'd be better off putting a bit more into it and stepping up to an Alpine etc. Yes the OEM look is appealing, but you cant beat the quality (both build and sound) of a good aftermarket unit. If the opal unit was OEM style and a fraction of the price you quoted, I'd go for that, the user interface looks pretty nice, the only thing that stands out is the maximum capacity USB drive of 2gb and the fact that you'll need to buy a facia kit. The Android one looks nice too, but pricey- They can be found for a fraction of that price on AliExpress and sites there alike. Don't be fooled by them advising its a "New 2013 model", I've been following these units since before I got my Aurion, and I haven't seen much of an improvement aside going from 7 to an 8" screen and more RAM at times. As far as maps go, these units can have pretty much any mapping software loaded, provided its compatible with 840x480 resolution screens. TV capability? I wouldn't bother this feature rarely works at described. I find they work well only when stationary in a city/built up area.
  11. Did they give you a detailed report? Parts required, etc? Also what mileage is your car on- Its hard to believe you've got an oil leak that's not related to the oil cooler pipe?
  12. Yeah I'm looking for a wood grain replacement for my center console, gear shifter and steering wheel. I think eBay and wreckers are the way to go, but seems very costly as I'm not a fan of the vinyl wrap approach
  13. They just called me back to ask how it was all going and to advise me there may be a few tiny drops of oil - but thats just excess from the mess the leak made. By the smell of things they used a lot of degreaser haha. All in all, good service from Chaddy Toyota.
  14. OK So I got a call to say my cars ready and they've dropped the price down to $1050 including a 165k service
  15. If I were to repeat the exercise, I'd fork out the cash and get a double-din Alpine, Eclipse etc unit; you know you'll get quality in both sound and build- It's a more costly option, but as they say, you get what you pay for. If I had the newer Aurion, I'd invest in one of these bad boys; http://www.alpine.com.au/showItem.php?item_id=298
  16. I'd say there's no difference, if I can find a high-end aftermarket unit (eg. Apline, Eclipse etc) with an OEM design for my Aurion, i'll happily get rid of this for one of those, but for now this works for me and if all goes to plan at work, i'll get a company car and get rid of this all together :)
  17. OK so they got back to me, its the oil cooler pipe and its due to wear and tear. No engine damage found- thank goodness but the damage stands at $1500 including the 165k service which i thought was a bit much even for a Toyota dealership. Any thoughts or ideas will be appreciated. Thanks guys!
  18. Note- cars got 165k on the odo
  19. I was driving to work this morning, noticed a long thick oil trail leading to my car and thought "hope that's not me..." I then had a closer look and sure enough it was! I checked the oil level and it was pretty low, so I stopped at a servo and put some in and drove it to the dealer. Just as the low pressure warning came on.. I hope it's nothing major, the leak is coming from the left side of the engine. I certainly didn't hit anything to pierce the sump and Im generally easy on the throttle so I'm not sure what it may be.. Wish me luck guys!
  20. I'm keen to join in! Hope to see a few Aurions out and about :)
  21. Have a look at reviews of other systems and you'll find they're all very generic as far as specs and features go. I just installed a system myself, as below; http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/42814-advance-electronic-aftermarket-system-mini-review/ I wouldn't bother with a TV tuner. I've installed similar units with TV tuners in a mates E39 BMW 540i and 2009 Astra and found that the TV tuner is next to useless unless you're stationary. What features are you looking for in a head unit?
  22. Wheel Brand/Design: ANZ Revolution in chrome Wheel size: 18" Wheel width: 8" Wheel offset: +45mm Tire size: 225/45/18 Suspension type: Stock Prodigy springs, soon to be King Feedback: Standard size/spec for Toyota Aurion Kappa wheels, good ride, no change in speedometer.
  23. You'll wanna start with this FAQ; http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/29603-aurion-wheels-rims-tyres-tires-specification-thread/ Otherwise 19" and 20" generally fit fine with stock springs, but getting to these sizes, you'll sacrifice ride quality at times.
  24. Have a look at my review- http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/42814-advance-electronic-aftermarket-system-mini-review/ The USB input on the front and USB input for 3g modem/wifi can be used as a power source for charging USB devices (tested with my iPhone 4S 64gb and new HTC One M7) So I assume it should be fine in charging your iPhone 5. As for accessing iPod music through the system - its shocking. I charge my iPhone with the 3g/wifi USB cable in the glove box and stream via Bluetooth.. As for other music/movies storage, i used a micro sd card which slots in the front Hope this helps!
  25. I just did a mini review on the Advance Electronic unit I picked up recently.. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/8-0-TOYOTA-CAMRY-AURION-Navigation-System-GPS-DVD-Digital-TV-IPOD-Free-CAMERA-/140750847757?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item20c5677f0d http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/42814-advance-electronic-aftermarket-system-mini-review/
