  1. Toyota want $226.90 for the fuel filter. I'm gob smacked, and it has to be ordered as they don't have any in stock. Last time I checked, I thought I was driving a Toyota not a BMW. 😞 The fuel filter for my M3 was 1/5th of the price. Truly bizarre. Cooper filter (WCF364) $48.99 or Stealership Genuine $226.90 ??? I have scoured the internet and it looks like Cooper is the ONLY one I could find. It almost feels like a monopoly for GUD (wesfil). I also wonder if a deal was struck by them to be the sole manufacturer for this particular filter too. Begs another question. Why was it necessary to redesign, upgrade, change the fuel delivery system of the 40 series to the 50 ?? Similar cars, same engine..
  2. Claims like this always make me laugh. Do they seriously think we are that gullible ? So funny 🤣
  3. Had a bit of time to research wiper blades and I decided to go with the Trico Force Beam Blade 26" & 18". A bit pricey but if they serve their intended purpose well then I'm happy with that. Just for comparison sake I also bought a much cheaper brand of the same type to compare. I might fit those to my Dad's car, the same time I fit mine and see how they both fair. Both are being express posted as we speak. That's wipers sorted.. Onto the next thing now lol..
  4. Yep, I'll probably just do that. Still waiting on a response from Ryde Toyota regarding said part..
  5. I didn't think I had to check (who does really ?) after seeing a plethora of Ryco filters touted as being for an Aurion 50. I had no idea what the filter in my car actually looked like to be able to compare it to what I'm seeing on ebay etc. It wasn't until I had it out, pulled apart and re assembling, I had the "wait a bloody minute" moment. I checked the Ryco website thereafter only to see a blank space where the fuel filter for the 50 would've otherwise been. There is a list of all the other conceivable filters available for 40 and 50 cars but NO fuel filter for the 50. Initially I thought it was just an oversight, but as it turns out, not so. Who would think in a million years Australia's leading filter company doesn't specify ONE filter out of a Gazzillion others they supply. WT ?? I have found one made by Cooper, which is a company owned by GUD, which also owns Wesfil. If I don't hear back from Toyota soon I may just go with this.
  6. I have been in touch with Ryco Australia today and here's the tennis match. Ryco Australia: Good morning Tony. Thanks for your Email. I have had a read though and Checked our RYCO system for the Fuel Filter you require. For the 50 series Toyota Aurion, we do not list a fuel Filter of any kind. I cannot comment on what Sparesbox list, or their system, but I can assure you Tony that there listing is incorrect. If you have any other issues or Questions, feel free to call me the number listed below & I’ll be happy to help. Me: Hi and thanks for the reply. So, Ryco don't make a fuel filter for a 50 series Aurion then? I thought Ryco was a filter company. Ryco Australia Tony, Z936 In tank fuel Filter is for Toyota CAMRY ASV50R series from 12/2011 to 10/2017 only. Me: I suspected so. Can I ask why Ryco haven't bothered to make one for the Aurion? There are hundreds of thousands of these on the road. Can you recommend another brand other than Genuine Parts? Ryco Australia: Tony, As we are an Aftermarket Supplier, it may be a case of that fuel filter is still under Copyright restrictions. I shall pass on your feed back to our Engineering team for further clarification.
  7. Update. I received a response from Ryco Australia and they reckon that they don't make a fuel filter for the 50 series lol !! How ridiculous is that ? They are supposed to be a filter company right ?? Also came across this thread. Wish I'd seen it earlier, from our friend Krigeroz The only thing that looks the closest I found on Ebay was this: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/COOPER-FUEL-Filter-For-Toyota-Aurion-3-5L-V6-04-12-on-WCF364-By-Zivor/333646960945?hash=item4daee89931:g:EI8AAOSwe0RfA4MY:sc:AU_Regular!2148!AU!-1 Only thing is I'm unsure of the quality of the brand. The price is decent though. Either this or Toyota Stealership
  8. I washed my Aurion yesterday and noticed the driver's side wiper was loose and upon closer inspection noticed that the clip that locks the arm was actually broken. I'll be damned how this happened. Luckily I noticed this and not when wifey was driving and having it fly off ! Luckily for me I still have the older Orginal wipers and was able to swap this out temporarily. I'm looking to convert to the newer "blade" style wipers and was looking at these: https://www.wipertech.com.au/wiper-blades/toyota/aurion/xv50-2012-2017 Not a bad price for the pair I think.
  9. That makes sense. I will never trust so called "fitment guides" again. Better to send a message to the seller and confirm instead. I wonder if there are any Camry owners that can lend some advice..
  10. Hey guys, I've sent Ryco a message asking for clarification on this. I'll let you know the outcome as soon as I know. Have a great day everyone.
  11. Sounds like hogwash to me mate. You mentioned that the head unit got locked out after a new battery install, yes ? Correct me if I'm wrong. So this mean't you putting in the radio code to initialize the head unit to the vehicle. If it's locked out, then how would a newer map CD be of any use if the head unit doesn't work ? Either that or it simply had a major malfunction during the battery swap. My understanding is that after putting in a radio code, then it should come back to operational use. If it is simply unresponsive, I'd say it's toast. You could either go after market or get a clean one from a wrecker.
  12. Precisely Robert. It kinda looks like the Aurion assembly but the filter section is totally wrong. If you look at the Ryco website for Aurion "filters" selection both 40 and 50 have all their respective filters listed except for the 50's fuel filter where it's actually blank for some reason. https://www.rycofilters.com.au/Search/SearchResult?make=TOYOTA&model=AURION&year=2012&liter= That should've raised the alarm bell for me but never thought much of as the Genius sellers with their fancy "Fitment Guide" seem to know better. I'm suspecting that either the Z936 belongs to another make of Toyota, perhaps Camry ??, or they just got the design horribly wrong. I too will be keen to find out.
  13. Nice pick up there Ash. The innards were black. I used brake cleaner to push all the crud out and it's as clean as I could get it. At least some of the time wasn't wasted, you're right, but a damn frustrating thing to have to go through. I doubt you'll have any issue with the 40 part. It seems the 50 series car is sometimes confused with the 40 and perhaps other makes.
  14. Nice work Ash. I didn't think the Aurion would need a catch can but I do look forward to the results. Might be something for me to consider in the future. I have no plans to sell my Aurion so every little bit helps I guess. Cheers mate.
  15. Hi Gents, As Some may be aware, I recently purchased a replacement fuel filter for my car and as it turns out, It's not the correct fitment for the original sender assembly. They reckon that the Ryco Z936 "fits" the Aurion 50, well I know for a fact that it doesn't. So please don't buy this part for your 50 if you don't want to curse the heck out of whoever sold it to you. I wasted 2hrs only to discover this. I've sent a message to them and have to wait till Monday I guess to see the next course of action. Not only is the "Fitment Guide" flawed, it also meant that I had to rebuild the original unit and put it all back together, ARGHH !! No I have to do this job twice. What a P.I.T.A. Thank you Ryco !
  16. I'm angry... Turns out the Z936 Ryco fuel filter doesn't work with the original sender assembly for a 50 series Aurion. I had to find out the hard way unfortunately. The filter section on the Ryco is too short to allow the base clips holding the pump to actually mate up and click into each other. ARRGGHH !!! Wasted like 2 hrs finding this out. Despite the website saying that the Z936 fits the 50 series, It's actually wrong so please whoever has a 50 series Aurion DO NOT buy a Ryco Z936 because it won't work. If the Z936 doesn't work for my car, I wonder which car it's actually for ??? I will never trust those stupid fitment guides on websites anymore. I have sent Sparesbox a return - refund- exchange message and let's wait and see what they say. We live and learn I guess, with a few expletives along the way..
  17. Got my Fuel Filter today. The quality looks top notch from Ryco. Now I have to figure out how to do it lol.. Thank God for youtube
  18. I actually don't mind a wagon. Growing up we had a TF Cortina Ghia station wagon and I loved that car. Always washed it and kept it super clean for Dad. Very practical with lots of room. Unfortunately we aren't a wagon loving country anymore due to the U.S influence of the S.U.V. It was this that killed the Commodore, Falcon and remember Magna ? R.I.P. manufacturing in Australia. Europe have a different mindset to us.
  19. Have you tried to contact the dealer for advice ? This has never happened to me after having to replace a battery but is it asking for a code or is it just not responding ?
  20. Looks like a bugger of a job guys. I'll have a snoop around there next time I'm under.
  21. Hi Gents, Got a notification about a savings deal of up to 35% off if you're interested. https://www.sparesbox.com.au/?utm_campaign=1942797_2007 - Tax Back %231 (ACTUAL)&utm_medium=email&utm_source=DotMailer&utm_term=header&dm_i=3Q50,15N2L,5N9Q57,43HGE,1 I tried it out and got myself a fuel filter for my Aurion (Z936) for $80 with free shipping. Not too shabby I thought. Elsewhere on Ebay it's $100 and over. SCA are doing them for around $152 and Repco are a bit more again... Happy hunting people
  22. That's pretty much my oil service schedule Big Mike. It usually takes around 6 months for my car to do roughly 8 -10 kays so it is in fact two oil services per year. Nulon 5w-30 has always been my oil of choice. Fully synthetic too of course, and will transition over to the Penrite because of the higher Zinc content. Like you said, Oil isn't that expensive, especially when you have several opportunities during the year to take advantage of the specials that pop up. Ashley and myself chime in when possible to alert you all when said specials are upon us and to take advantage. I've got enough oil for 4 services so I'll refrain from purchasing until another year or so and top up my stock then.
  23. Wow ! Expensive owning a Patrol. For the Aurion you would have to buy another 10 litre to make it work, but it gets expensive if it's not on special. Holden and Ford owners would have to buy bulk too.
  24. I've been on Primacy LCs and found them to be excellent all round. They are especially quiet too. I am also considering going to the 4's next like you Big Mike.
  25. I've never really used any fuel additives and would be interested to see if the claims stand up Ash. My thinking is that the fuel delivered to the injectors is already filtered and the need for injector cleaner would be counterintuitive. Not sure really.
