  1. Man, I'd be ****** having a beautiful car such as a 2017 Presara and it filled with water. It's hard to say at this point if it is in fact sunroof related. You need to do a little investigation yourself first. It's possible one of the drainage channels could be blocked, but I doubt it. It's not that old despite having seen some dirt roads. That's why you have sunroof seals and the rest of it to help keep all that stuff out. Either the drain tube is pinched slightly, or it's not routed correctly or it could be a leaky back screen. The worst part about this is that you may have to strip back some interior linings to be able to investigate. Did you check the boot area for water ingress ? It's possible to have water enter just above the wheel tub and flow down along the left inner sill. You'll need a strong LED torch and probably get in the car during the rain. If you're in Sydney, now is the time because it's raining cats and dogs at the moment. Let us know how you go.
  2. I messaged Partsouq.com about a replacement fuel filter for the Aurion and this was their response. Why is it so difficult ?? It just gets hilarious by the minute. Hello Tony Thank you for getting back on us. As per VIN provided, there is no fuel filter shown in any related diagram, It could be that the filter is not replaceable or cannot be sold separately.
  3. I'd be interested to see this too. I'll stand corrected on the front ACM mount, but I believe the others are fluid filled ( sealed units). Perhaps this is why the Aurion is so smooth ? The engine vibrations are dampened via the engine mounts. I had a quick look at replacement ones on ebay. Take a look at these and have a read in the description, primarily the TruPro mounts. I'd really be interested to see the real world result of fluid vs rigid mounts, especially for the Aurion. Would it alter its smooth characteristic I wonder.. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Front-Engine-Mount-For-TOYOTA-Aurion-GSV40R-GSV50R-2GRFE-Auto/142732246962?fits=Model%3AAurion|Make%3AToyota&hash=item213b813fb2:g:Ka8AAOSwyLpdXU8l:sc:AU_Regular!2148!AU!-1 https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/RH-Engine-Mount-For-TOYOTA-Aurion-GSV40R-GSV50R-2GRFE-Auto-High-quality/152956415324?fits=Model%3AAurion|Make%3AToyota&hash=item239ce9ad5c:g:L9QAAOSw0fJdXU8p:sc:AU_Regular!2148!AU!-1 Complete Listings https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/m.html?_odkw=&fits=Model%3AAurion|Make%3AToyota&_ssn=superspares&hash=item211639bdc1%3Ag%3Ae0IAAOSwQypdXSJH%3Asc%3AAU_Regular!2148!AU!-1&item=142106803649&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2046732.m570.l1313.TR3.TRC1.A0.H0.XAurion+engine+mount.TRS0&_nkw=Aurion+engine+mount&_sacat=0
  4. Wow. That is really terrible advice, especially after everything we NOW know about the potential for sludging. Also makes a good argument for a catch can. Fixed price servicing is also code for: We will service your car the cheapest possible way with inferior oil. I also doubt they let it drain thoroughly either. I feel for those who can't perform their own maintenance and hope they have an honest mechanic. For me, I will try and do everything myself. I can take my time and do it the right way and use the proper fluids. Good for you Stephen. They didn't bet on you coming at them with that. They assume that we're all mugs at the end of the day. Most people won't know the difference. That's hilarious Tommy 🤣 They want the champagne lifestyle on a beer budget lol... Perhaps they should buy a car that fits their means ??
  5. I haven't done engine mounts as yet for my 50 series and I'm unsure if they differ on the 40. I believe they are all fluid damped mounts.(hydraulic),including the ACM. The dog bone isn't obviously. There are plenty on ebay.
  6. On top just under the dress cover to the right. It's pretty easy to get to. Just didn't want to work in the rain.
  7. I think it's stupid to remove 91 entirely. I am getting sick of Governments removing our choices and mandating as they see fit. Enough already I reckon. We're supposed to be a Democracy, living in a free world...
  8. A nap would glorious right about now lol..
  9. I can't even do any of that Ash. It's raining quite moderately here today. I wanted to remove the pcv for inspection.
  10. I don't understand how they are able to sell Dealer parts less than the dealer ? I might shoot them a message just as an exercise and see if they can source me a genuine fuel filter and see what price they come up with. Thanks for the lead though
  11. I'm just wondering if what they sell are in fact Toyota Genuine Parts as opposed to "genuine" counterfeits. The counterfeit market is prolific these days. They will make an exact replica of the the item AND the box complete with the official hologram stickers to make it appear Genuine. Have you checked the pricing from a dealer before purchasing from Partsouq ? I can't imagine you being able to purchase from an 3rd party seller who underquote the dealer pricing. I checked and all they have for the 50 series is a transmission filter, nothing else. Toyota want $226 for a fuel filter for the 50 series. Would you pay that or $80 for the equivalent in a Ryco ?? There's nothing wrong with Ryco. They are as good as Toyota at half the price. I wish I could pay $60 for a Genuine filter. I'd buy more than one.
  12. A quick update on the "wrong fuel filter saga"... Got a refund and no mention to return it either. I guess they can't do much with a sullied part, so I guess I'll just keep it and give it to someone who needs it.
  13. Very nice job he did there. Anyone else dig the Euro thrash metal ?? By the way, his fillet welds were sublime
  14. Does Penrite have a certain aroma ?? I've been using Nulon and will be switching over to Penrite after I conclude the last batch of Nulon 5w-30 I have in stock and I'll have to give it the sniff test to see for myself.
  15. To be honest Ashley, I've never look at the dipstick until it's oil service time. I know I should be checking more regularly because I know my engine is clean, but I will do this after the next one. It's due at 124K. That's roughly 10k or less between services. The service book calls for service intervals of 15k if I remember correctly. That's too long for my liking. I may even do it at 120K to even up the ledger and then follow the 10k rule again.
  16. If you have time, remove the valve cover to get a better look. It may just have more varnish than sludge. Just wondering what oil they were using beforehand too. If it's not sludged up, that may indicate they used a decent synthetic oil but the service interval was longer, hence the varnish. I might remove and inspect my PCV and compare with the colour of yours there Nathan. My 2012 has just under 119K now and it has a full service history to date. I continued with the servicing when I purchased it at 40K and before this it was dealer serviced. Let us know how you go
  17. I think the Steam you're referring to is just condensation that occurs when the hot exhaust gases exit through the cold exhaust pipe. That's normal. White smoke is different to this in that there is oil vapor burning off in the combustion chamber hence the use of the catch can to divert the oil vapor away from the combustion process.
  18. All I could suggest is to do a power reset and see if this cures the issue. Disconnect the battery and wait half an hour or so and reconnect and see what happens. If the issue persists then I'd say the head unit is faulty. You can find plenty of these on ebay.
  19. It's funny how not that long ago when we reported transmission issues it would almost entirely be a mechanical issue. Not anymore as the modern transmissions are computer controlled. If the software isn't right it will make the transmission behave badly and stupidly I must say and can be frustrating. I'm sure the dealer can sort this out during the next service or warranty inspection. Let us know how you go
  20. Exactly. My M3 doesn't get that much usage and I have at one stage had the same tank of fuel in it for over two years and it still fired up and ran. Admittedly, the octane had dropped and would ping under load and before I got to drain the tank the fuel pump failed, so whilst having to do this I pumped out the old fuel, ( rigged up a fuel pump from a motorcycle to suck the fuel out using a hose) drained the fuel lines, replaced both fuel pump assembly and fuel filter. I then filled it with fresh fuel and have since started using a fuel stabilizer.
  21. Unfortunately, we don't get to choose fuel suppliers as I drive a company vehicle. Normally I would use BP for my other cars but Caltex is our current fuel provider. I have only used BP Ultimate 98 in my M3 and find it to be a fine product. It also requires it as standard so no real choice anyway.
  22. My apologies but I thought I had no before shots showing the blackened pick up screen. Had another look and here they are. Before and after shots. Next time I have it out, I'll give the screen another hit.
  23. You may be right Ash. The sock was blackened. I didn't get a before shot. Wish I did. As soon as I sprayed it with brake cleaner, all the black stuff just melted away. Then I blew it out with some dry nitrogen. ( I have some spare bottles I use for work). The sock takes the brunt, fuel then passes through the filter before getting pulled and then pushed ? Not sure of the mechanics of the in-tank filter. Car seems fine so I might just wait. Mind you, the filter portion doesn't look anymore discoloured than the rest which could indicate that it's still quite clean. Is this a fair assumption ?
