  1. Gotta love Scotty. He is so right too. Those Morons at Motorserve are accountants not engineers it seems and by selling you stuff you don't need is potentially damaging to your engine. They need a little Scotty Kilmer in their lives hahaha !!
  2. ELO are awesome, but you have to love Skyhooks. Gee they had a great sound. Miss Shirley ! I have several of their LPs in my mammoth collection lol. 😁
  3. You did what you could Michael. I know how frustrated you must feel and venting your case here and everywhere else will serve as a community reminder and hopefully steer others away from the unconscionable behaviour of motor serve. Tyre pressure for the Aurion is also 240kpa on the 215/55R17
  4. Very nice ! Enjoy the slickness too. That ceramic will provide excellent protection from the elements and you'll probably give it a once over in around 6 months. The bottle will go a long way. Use it on various parts of the car too if you don't want to do the paintwork that is.
  5. That's what I will miss the most, apart from the effortless acceleration, smoothness at idle and at speed and the excellent fuel economy. Shame the tight ringers couldn't see this otherwise more would have sold. It seems the general consensus is "get the 4", "it's cheaper on fuel".. If only more people did their research and figured it would be better to own a V6 with ALL the extra benefits it provides makes a better argument over the 4 cyl anyday.
  6. Thanks for the update Steve. I'd just watch it over the next few weeks. It may need more time to present itself. Cheers mate
  7. I was just reading an article about the 2021 facelift range of the new Camry only to learn that they have axed the V6 for Australia. Damn it !! The future is looking like 4 cyl putt putt machines and hybrid. Very sad the way we ended in this country. They'd better get the car museum ready cos it's gonna fill up pretty quickly soon.. https://www.caradvice.com.au/906860/toyota-camry-v6-dead-in-australia-axed-with-2021-facelift/
  8. Nice work Daniel. I have to say I am impressed how nice it looks. Big improvement over stock for sure. You just have to get used to the quirky software on these aftermarket units. Good to see that everything hooked up easily enough and working well. Thanks for the photos too. it's always nice to see what others are doing rather than try to explain it.
  9. Excellent write up. I can see that you're proud of your work and posting a separate thread was a good idea. That way, others looking for such information can find it quickly. If you bury it within one generic thread it tends to stay that way. Love your work man
  10. Good to hear the job went well. I agree that it wouldn't be a comfortable position to work in. Have you tried sourcing one from a wrecker ? I don't know why Toyota have to charge so much for their parts. They're just as bad an European Stealers. I'm looking to replace a scratched up door handle for my driver's door and they want $300 for the outer bit. Go figure.. Shameless.
  11. Hi Warwick, I've never had to do one personally, bit it's not that difficult a job. Blower fans/motors are a serviceable part so Toyota and others will make them in such a way to be able to get them out relatively easy. It looks daunting but it isn't really. The blower assembly will always reside in the passenger side compartment of the dash so you'll have to get under there to investigate. The blower assembly is usually held in the housing with a few screws and there will be a connector. Take a look at this video, although it's not specific for the 200 series, It should be very close to what you need. Let us know how you go. Cheers mate
  12. Beautiful car Mario. Red looks great on TRD Aurions.' I suspect the original shocks were worn and your car was sitting lower than normal to begin with. With the brand new shocks and top hats, they put the car back to where it should be. Give it some time to bed in too as you may find it may drop a few millimeters more. The shock travel should be the same on all Aurion 40 series. The difference lies in the spring thickness which gives it its handling and ride advantage over stock. It looks fine to me. Take good care of it.
  13. You could possibly try contacting the specific branch if you have this info in the log books. Did it come with books ? More than likely, it may not have been a pursuit vehicle but possibly something driven by general duty cops. I doubt they would have tweaked the engine. The fact that it is a Sportivo suggests they wanted something with a bit firmer suspension in case they need to go on a spirited chase lol..
  14. I wouldn't think twice about buying a Camry. It is a world class car with Toyota's legendary quality and reliability.
  15. We need a good kick start this year. There's been too much doom and gloom already. Bring back the good times !
  16. I love when they say things like that. They seem to think we're all wood ducks hahaha. Rear brakes take very little punishment compared to the fronts. Good call to leave them as they were because those pads, despite being 50% will probably last another 3 years. The rotors would probably never need replacing unless something major has occurred and I'd think not. Good job checking and bleeding. I'd concentrate more on the fronts to be honest. An annual check is all you need, and if your fussy, 6 monthly. Nothing will really go wrong in there if the sliders are lubed and the fluid is flushed regularly. If your Son is not heavy footed, the level of degradation is greatly reduced and good for him too . Depending on what brand you have, and being 45%, I'd estimate roughly 12 months or less to be on the safe side. You shouldn't wait until they have no meat left before changing them at the risk of scoring the disc. Change them when they have anywhere between 3mm or less thickness. A DIY approach is always good to have and will save you plenty of money. Probably good to get your boy involved too. Great learning opportunity for both. All the best mate
  17. Probably best to cut your losses and move on. It's not worth the stress or time. I have also been on the receiving end of Toyota's customer service from the parts dept too. I enquired about a new exterior door handle, the one's from the wreckers are always scratched up ( like mine is) and after two text messages I haven't heard back from them. That was December last year And it's not a cheap part either, mind you. It's around $300 for my car as it is chromed and painted and has the smart entry feature.
  18. Nice work. Every little bit helps make the car feel and drive that little bit nicer.
  19. Yes it is. Try and avoid direct sun though. Do it in the early morning or late afternoon or inside a garage if you have that. Just follow the directions on the bottle and you can't go wrong. This one will require a cure time and having the lights off at the moment you can take your time and even do a second coat. Those lights will pop !
  20. All good mate. I hope it all goes well. Post up some pics when you do. Cheers
  21. Hi Ray. So you removed the seat belt inertia reel assembly from the vehicle so you could get better access to it I'm guessing. Did you by any chance have to remove the seat first ? If so, the seat has an occupancy sensor plug which is yellow. It may also be in series with your seat belt. If you unplugged this while the battery was still connected and your ignition was turned on at some point then it will flag a code and the airbag light will be displayed. Scenario two, if you reassembled everything and haven't connected the plug correctly, then go to start the car, it will also flag a code and airbag light will light up. If it was ok before then it was something in the order of process you did incorrectly. I did this once in my BMW and the airbag light came on too. I had an airbag reset tool handy and was able to zap it. What you need is a code reader and one that has the ability to reset the airbag code. There is no backdoor fix unfortunately. I encourage everybody to invest in such a tool because all these modern cars are computer controlled and it will save you a lot of time and money trying to diagnose something you may know nothing about. At least it will help point you in the right direction. Doesn't have to be an expensive tool. You can get cheap ones that will do the basic items such as airbag reset. Ask some of your friends, they may have one. Just go back over your work and make sure all electrical sockets or plugs you disconnected are connected correctly then address the situation. Also, did you check the airbag fuse ?
  22. I'm still waiting for Turtle wax's Flex wax to arrive here and the 303 graphene nano spray. Both these are graphene based. But for the meantime we have these following ceramic sprays that are decent enough. The Mothers CMX probably edging the other two out. There are more fancy boutique brands but they're all much of a muchness really. The ones below are readily available at your local SCA and at decent prices at the moment. https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/meguiars-meguiars-hybrid-ceramic-wax---786ml/579411.html?cgid=SCA01010406#start=1 https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/mothers-mothers-cmx-ceramic-spray-710ml/575705.html?cgid=SCA01010406#start=2 https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/turtle-wax-turtle-wax-hybrid-solutions-ceramic-wax-473ml/591047.html?cgid=SCA01010406#start=6
  23. Here's a video that should get you motivated.
  24. Hey mate, nice to see you were able to get some things done. Those headlights look sensational ! Beautiful job mate . Huge improvement. Can't wait to see them on the car now. Can I offer some advice. I'd hold back on the lens clear coat. Reason being is that new lenses will have a layer of U.V resistant coating already which does break down with time, same as the clear coat you intend putting on. The clear coat is not permanent and it will break down eventually and look horrible. A much better solution long term would be to either ceramic coat them with the traditional method or get a spray on ceramic infused alternative. Plenty to choose from. Decent quality spray on type are usually good for around 12 months. I'm sure you won't resist giving them a top up coat bi-monthly. (I would).. The bottle will go a long way, years in fact. I'm still waiting for the 303 Graphene nano spray and the Turtle wax flex wax to hit our market. I'll keep a bottle of each of these handy. Look forward to the update. Thanks for sharing 👌
  25. Look like you dodged a bullet there my friend. I would definitely replace the timing belt if he's going to the trouble of doing everything else. It's like a package deal and these repairs will keep your car going for a very long time after this. Just need to keep doing your routine maintenance checks to make sure everything is good. Checking fluids etc periodically can save a bigger issue down the track. Let us know if you need anything further. Only glad to help. All the best
