  1. Fantastic work Mark. You did a great job !. Would've been nice of the liner maker to take the time and make the cutouts to suit the factory roll bars.. Great result and thanks for the pics. All the best
  2. On a more serious note, THIS video explains the oil consumption issue that Toyota's can face. He makes total sense too.
  3. Sorry guys. I couldn't help myself. This 👇👇👇 performance part may need modification to fit. Yep, it'll need a Johnson Rod, of course 🤣🤣😜
  4. Hi Trev, firstly welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear you're still having issues. I have to say that sometimes it's not always what the reader tells you is being the actual fault. You say that you replaced both supposedly "faulty" items and still no joy. It could be something in the wiring that is hindering the signal. You need to trace out the wiring harness which connects to these devices and see if there is any damage, dust, dodgy connection or other underlying issue there. I once had rats, who thought nesting in my V6 Hilux engine bay was a good idea and the mongrels chewed through a bit of wiring harness located at the top of the engine just under the engine dress cover and this messed up my transmission shifting sequencing. So a bit of advice would be to check the harness and go from there. What was the sound you are trying to convey ??
  5. I understood what you said. I would honestly say that this is a normal thing in Toyota's and I dare say, other makes and models. I highly doubt there is an issue. It either works or it doesn't. I'd also be interested to hear what the Toyota techs have to say. I think they'll echo my thoughts. In reality, 1km/hr over is really nothing to worry about as it is well within the range of the speedo error so it won't inadvertently have you breaking the speed limit. I really wouldn't worry about it, but it is worth enquiring about. Let us know what they reckon.
  6. That makes a whole lot of sense. Thanks for the input. I think many will find this very helpful and avoid costly shotgunning expenditure.
  7. I suspect they went electronic after 2006.
  8. The noise you're hearing is where the outer metal skins folds over the inner skin and they rub together. Over time this will get worse as there is a somewhat hollow space between the fold and you'll get that "ticking noise" All you have to do is place a shim inside the fold and it's sorted. I have heard that this has been a problem from Toyota since 2008 and ALL Toyota's are manufactured in the same way, including our locally made versions. ( When we used to make cars , that is).. If you have the inclination, you'll need to remove the roof liner to be able to expose the innards and shim the fold. I'd even take the car for a drive with the roof lining out and have a passenger feel it out. You will find it pretty quickly. If any of you do this DIY, please post it up here so others can benefit. All the best Chaps
  9. A few posts back revealed it to be the speedo cable. Pull it out and re lube the innards or get a new one.
  10. Hi Rick, as long as it's an OBDII compliant device most should work. Have a look at this one if you haven't already. Cheers https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/elite-electronics-scangauge-ii-obd2-auto-scan-tool-performance-trip-computer-sgiiffp/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=product_listing_ads&gclid=Cj0KCQiA9P__BRC0ARIsAEZ6irjVXLRmwmdeXnxeVqqpAYB5MANN936JQ7mO6klAnDjUUoPrvmfAhZsaAoShEALw_wcB
  11. Very nice Ryan. Thinking outside the box. Pun intended At least you don't have an imposing box in there and still have room to carry stuff. Just need to be careful not to damage the woofer's mesh cover. You can probably make a protective surround that fits over the top if you need to use the boot to it's fullest. Nice work mate and welcome to the forum by the way
  12. Yep. There's a fine line between Marketing and Fraud... They all lie.
  13. Haha, yeah. I've noticed that about Scotty. He's rough as guts but a brilliant mechanic. The only downside with jacking up from the cross members, and it's no biggy, is that you'll need a decent sized trolley jack to be able to reach in, especially on the back. I have more fun trying to jack the rear up than the front with my bohemoth back breaker trolley jack. If you have one of the more modern twin piston jacks it would be ideal as they jack up a lot faster than the older single piston type. Forget the small trolley jack on the rear member. I never jack the car from the sill if I can help it, but for jacking up the car from the sill, I would also recommend the jack pad adapter for jack and stands. I purchased a couple of different types a while back myself.
  14. If you have your heart set on one I'd inquire via the link Warren (tidywazza) posted.
  15. If you're handy and have some basic tools, it's not too difficult to do yourself. I can totally understand if it's not for you and you prefer others to do it. For me, I hate other people touching my car if I can help it because almost every time it will have an extra nick here and there and they show no respect for other people's property.
  16. I'm sure SCA will have his back. There should be ramifications for the shoddy workmanship. You're not supposed to blow stuff trying to wire up a car stereo for God's sake. I feel very badly for you Miks. I'd be furious.
  17. Good Question. I have never seen one to be honest. I suspect if there ever was, it would probably be a custom job.
  18. I think with advice like that, Mr Service Manager should get a job at McDonalds instead 🤣 Lord Bug has you covered 👆
  19. Yep. Fingers crossed Andy didn't short the ECU in his attempt to custom fit the new H.U. It was mentioned that several fuses had popped, so that's not encouraging from an install point of view. I don't think Andy has the experience quite sadly.
  20. Beading and sheeting of the water is what you need to help avoid those dreaded water spots. When you drive in the rain at speeds above 60, especially on the freeway, the beads just float away as if by magic. I love the visual cue the glass coatings give. Everybody who sees this in my car makes a comment how the water glides away and how wonderful it looks. You'll be very impressed Ashley. Make sure your girlfriend is with you and see her reaction too.
  21. It's always good to stock up when the going is good I say. Remember those 50 series fuel filter assemblies I purchased recently, The price has jumped from $50 each to $75 each now. Everything is getting ridiculously expensive, so when you see a good deal, grab it.
  22. I doubt it G. I believe the thicker sway bar would help keep it more level during cornering, less roll. Suspension is a difficult area to master, and it can get quite expensive if you get it wrong. There is a fine line between strut and sway bar management and if you have the time and money, I'm sure one can find the sweet spot. For me, I'm happy with the stock set up. The car drives and rides nicely, especially with new tyres and that's really good enough for me. If anything, I'd probably consider upgrading the sway bars and keep the stock struts.
  23. Your welcome. I hope everything works out ok. Hold SCA accountable for the stuff up and inconvenience. Your car was fine before that guy put his hands on it. I'm surprised NRMA couldn't figure it out. They are supposed to be very well trained.
