  1. Good work Priscilla. Let me guess, it was a hit and run special ??
  2. Sounds like a Royal P.I.T.A Ashley. Who has time to do this ? I guess if you do have the time to set it up correctly it could very beneficial, but you need to be realistic too.
  3. No problem. Maybe google some steering shops in your area. I'm sure there should be a few around that can help. Sorry I couldn't be of much help.
  4. To be honest, I've never had to do one but I'd do a bit of research to see if it is something a DIYer can do. If the rack can be removed relatively easy, then I'd guess the rest would be fairly straight forward if you are mechanically inclined. Just need to do some research and prep essential tools and parts. Some people are just happy to have it swapped out with a reconditioned part. I would put money there are hundreds of Youtube videos on the subject. God Bless the internet !! My Aurion is electric assist so I'll never need to worry about this, but I have a BMW M3 with a hydro assisted steering rack which may or may not give the opportunity to do if the time came. I would like to give it a crack myself. You can only stuff it up once right ? If you do, go and buy a reconditioned one and simply install it. See how you go.
  5. Hi Tom and welcome to the forum mate. I'd imagine Toyota might sell the seals. Have you tried Toyota ?
  6. Has anyone played around with these ? I wonder if the stated improvement is what they claim. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SuperPro-Front-Control-Arm-Lower-Inner-Rear-Bush-Kit-Double-Offset-Fits-Lexus/153312054024?fits=Model%3AAurion|Make%3AToyota&epid=1756635703&_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item23b21c4b08:g:bC8AAOSwuIFf831c&amdata=enc%3AAQAFAAACcBaobrjLl8XobRIiIML1V4Imu%2Fn%2BzU5L90Z278x5ickkxGz2ccqatkEnoeekHqhLkbObfNvhJQ1OHvVIO6WzXdyRgH2liWlyTZi3dav2g7xJrO%2B984D7QXQ8wZkXFDOWamSq4hb5V1KkOj2BMeIwMZ4IcHF6fQGYpJuREbTufMRRwSiz4SlEIrUeSuOJK0QF5tnX2W7A2Wlcj03yaiHhxm8ZATLKJLE22FQnYsNtbMuwmhhqALXueWw1899HMkSIuRFtRhzPn7xgSKG2fIJiOLURCicMnEem2mHKYZjxaLkWKncVuB3hYoqPhiiwhjuKsd19llD7mUHOEN1dxoZZ6h7IJ4pfU88xgnecKeeBM4DB2BMoHyrjK3B3jdBzf9aeFCxW7mLgOl%2B9f8tWBI%2BakwqnABlPt6OJTNCehbBrChO%2F426wj0r7YTcPK3%2F0ymxIlR8lkVm%2FvgmkcHaBgn%2FA2QG%2FBNwUHdPVbEA4dwiIVnZhW9bJivBM3ghXUrIbpcRmYPFxX3v8Cbba33trIKx11EZR0WlOEsKulhonjsP5t7NtHq0aWG7KxBW5G656V6f6Z13oiI%2FSscGReIsxjMrV2mkb2s6d7%2BvFUrMdmFf7twl0rbYdnuB0mDEN7QZHqfhWpe61vInpxR2BmooS7njV%2FGuz3aTN0HaUI8ii%2BPNHrcSaw%2BQ59SXicTJQt%2FhDBAruDSkKzSwe8eqYQW8qvmIa4EwzWcYZ6WsZX2y6EXO4nec1KKfC2Hs%2Fl0ggKJBQ%2FAjWSVM2hjDK7kvr4zwDO4%2FIjzuLl53Y%2BJ5VN90lEAqXd0f5GsEA7u6BohlexnMQ9lr6Eg%3D%3D|cksum%3A153312054024cad63fdb542d4a0c8b736b84e94e1543|ampid%3APL_CLK|clp%3A2334524
  7. Hey ash, how long would I expect the serpentine belt to last before it starts cracking ? I also wonder how much longer a new belt dipped in 303 will last compared to one that's not. Interesting test. I would tend to think that the treated belt should last indefinitely if the pullies are in perfect alignment and clean. Can't see why not. Oh. Forgot to ask. Did you have to replace the tensioner too ??
  8. Glad it all went well Ash. Now you won't have to worry about that for some time. I'd also be interested to see how the new pump performs as I have the same one in my spares bin ready to go. Blocked due to crud and corrosion ? I don't recall where the weep hole is on these. Are the Toyota and aftermarket weep holes in the same spot ?
  9. I have to agree. The Michelin PS4 are a cut above the rest. I will most likely switch to these from the Primacy when it's time. I'm trying to milk as much life out of my current set as they aren't wearing evenly. I have to keep switching them around lol.. They're still safe, don't worry. I wouldn't compromise otherwise. Good thing about Michelins is that they have excellent wear characteristics. Just have to keep an eye on the alignment (which I didn't do) to try and keep them wearing unevenly as mine have done.
  10. Yeah, good luck with that. If there was a recall then different story. Dash cracks can be caused by too much sun and Toyota has no control over how people maintain their vehicles, so i'd say it would be very difficult to get them to even raise a brow over this. If you're really fussy, locate a good second hand one and swap it out.
  11. If you know a mechanic friend, he may be able to get you a trade discount, but if not then you'd have to pay retail unfortunately. Have you tried Toyota yet ? Installing it is pretty simple too. There should be plenty of Youtube superstars out there with DIY ad nauseum for you to choose from.
  12. Not sure how many guys here live in Queensland who actually use a regular mechanic shop. Best to try your local classifieds and read the reviews of those near where you are.
  13. How's your serpentine belt Ash ? I plan to get a replacement one, soak it in 303 and leave it in a plastic bag until it's needed. The 303 should penetrate nicely and give it some extra longevity too.
  14. Long term owners like myself will all have to face this someday. I'll wait till Ashley has done his and read the follow up post. I'm sure there will lots of cursing involved. Somehow this helps during the process I've found 😄
  15. Do any of you have the owners handbook ? I feel your pain. The CD players in Toyota are garbage and all will fail sooner or later. If you are right and you need the CD to reboot the thing then Toyota have us a major disservice.
  16. A few years back, I visited my accountant who had an early model of Kluger, not the first Gen, the one after and at the time it had well over 300,000 Kays on it and still going strong. He only sold it to upgrade to latest model, which he still has and I will put money the old one is still going. The secret to longevity is good maintenance. Change your oil regularly. Between 8 and 10k intervals using high quality fully synthetic oil. Less if used in extreme conditions.
  17. Yep. It is normal. Welcome to the world of modern cars. It's a form of hill descent assist if your vehicle is equipped with it. Sounds like it is.
  18. https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/crestmead/cars-vans-utes/1985-extra-cab-4x4-hilux/1265445354 Not sure if the petrol model was available but I've seen them in diesel form. At least the body shell is available right ? The rest you can put together yourself. I'm also a huge BTTF fan so I get it. I have many collectable pieces I've purchased over the years. The 80's were the best years !
  19. Haha, I wish. I made that same mistake a while back and that was with my glasses on $5 per litre is good value nonetheless. Just having the odd number throws it out. You have to make 6 lt each time so you will need to keep multiplying the 5's to get close to the 6 x multiplier.
  20. You got me excited there for a minute. It's actually for the 5lt otherwise I would've purchased a few. You have to buy several to make it work as a 6lt and then there's always an amount that just sits around. Wished they put the 6LT on a decent sale rather than the 30% they're all doing now instead of the 50% they used to. Super Cheap are getting "cheap".
  21. Hey Ashley, Sorry to hear this mate. It's a very unsettling noise that's for sure. I hope it all goes smoothly. Also be interested to know if it is in fact still the original pump. All the best
  22. Hi Ally. Electrical gremlins can be frustrating. First thing I'd be checking is the work around the alternator. Are the connectors on correctly and other cables tight ? If you have the time, follow the wiring harness around the engine bay and into the relay box and check all the socket connectors. Check your grounding wires too. They could be loose. Inside the fuse & relay box there is a main connector spade with a nut. I think it's 12 mm or so. Make sure this is tight. Make sure you battery terminals are also tight. It's very rare that connections come loose without some form of human intervention so have a good look around. Let us know what you find.
  23. Which model of Camry are you talking about ? If it's the original Camry then yes, I would agree, but most of the later Gen and so called "wide body" Camry's have sufficient leg room. Are you a big guy or tall ? I would imagine the Camry cars from recent years should be able to accommodate most people's needs.
  24. Hi Big Mike, It's a very simple job and it shouldn't take more than an hour to do, hence the low price. Thanks for posting the info.
  25. It's difficult to diagnose on the internet without seeing the vehicle and doing a few routine checks. What you should do is have a mechanic come to your house to "advise" what the issue is and if you are capable, replace the faulty items yourself to save some money. If you blown the head gasket, then that would be a job for the mechanic. You should've replaced the radiator before it became a problem. It's your only car and this should have motivated you to get it sorted to make it as reliable as possible. Good luck and let us know what you find.
