  1. I can concur with you on that hydrophobic coating. It is quick and relatively easy to apply. I started using this kind of sealant years ago and I found it especially good for undercarriages, wheel wells and engine bays, especially when the car is new, it's an ideal treatment from the get go. I'd give the car a thorough wash top, bottom, inside and out then I'd foam cannon the stuff underneath, engine bay and then over the outer part of the car, let it dwell for several minutes and then pressure wash. Puts that invisible protection coating over everything and makes it easier to clean in the future. Best time to do it is very early in the morning if you have no shade protection or late in the afternoon. Never use these in direct sunlight because it will start drying too fast before it has time dwell. The one I used was from Fireball. They make some really excellent products.
  2. To check the gearbox oil, position the vehicle on a level surface both laterally and longitudinally. Then you have to go underneath and on the right side of the gearbox there is a drain plug at the bottom and a fill plug about 1/3 of the way up. I think it's a 19mm plug. SImply undo the "fill plug" and sticky your pinky finger inside and feel for the oil level. Usually if the oil is filled to the correct level a very slight amount should trickle out. That's ok. If it is below the lowest point of the fill hole then add fluid. For refilling oil in these instances I use a Tom Thumb fluid transfer pump. Easy to use and no mess. If in your case the oil hasn't been replaced for an unknown period of time it would probably be a good time to drain and refill. I'm not sure what spec of oil it requires. You can do some research online to find this yourself. All the best and Happy New Year.
  3. Did you try the search function here before posting ? Not much info out there on that particular one. If you still have the owner's manual it should be in there. If you don't, then buy yourself a workshop manual. It will definitely be in there.
  4. The Karcher vacuum is one of the best ones I've used too. I had a similar Karcher for around 12 years before it started getting tired. The motor outlasted the rest of it. The side clamps were the biggest weakness. Not sure if they've upgraded them on these newer machines, but I'll definitely buy another. The just last and the suction is excellent. I would advise to stock up on the circular brush implements because the bristles will fold down and it will become useless over time and Karcher tends to discontinue these items so you have no choice but to upgrade the machine. Aftermarket ones are almost non existent, I know, I've tried looking. I like using this implement to help fluff up the carpets and get rid of those stroke lines when using the crevice tool to pick up heavy dirt and it helps to agitate more dirt deeper in the pile. Well done, that's a great gift from you Parents. Look forward to your updates. Appreciate the pics too. Cheers mate
  5. Cool , thanks Ash. It is amazing how the assembly discolours over time. It starts off life as a bright white plastic piece and then slowly turns a pale shade of brown. It has to be made of some very special plastic though for it to be able to withstand living in petrol for the time it does. I'll try and see if I can find socks and keep as spare. Never know with those things, the collars have a tendency to break. Also on the cleaning aspect, I think I used carb cleaner on mine when I had it apart. Cleaned up nicely.
  6. Nice. I think I will get one of these and see. Thanks for that.
  7. That's very possible because the engine mount can be seen as an integral piece in the chassis and if there was some degree of "looseness" then I would believe it would amplify its way around and induce some vibration into the drivetrain. Was it easy to undo the engine mount nuts ? Did you torque them to spec or just a good old fashioned put yer back into it ?
  8. I assumed your 40 Prodigy would have one because my Prodigy does. Looks like they added this as standard to the 50 series Prodigy. I know my Dad's ATX 50 doesn't. Looks like the same on the 40 as it is on the 50. Can't see Toyota using something different when you can't really see it.
  9. Happy New Year everybody. I sincerely hope everybody here has a fantastic year. May it be filled with joy, peace, happiness, good health and prosperity. May the Auto God's keep your cars running well too Best Regards Tony
  10. I'd be interested to find out more about this. Can you elaborate on what you have and where I could get it ?
  11. What's you're source for filter socks Ash ? I tried searching Ebay and no joy.
  12. Hi Rick, as far as I know OEM fitted sensors should never require calibration or aim adjustment. Do you know if the bumper has been off before ? It's possible one could be out but I doubt it. I have had several cars in the past where even on a slight incline it would intermittently ping but stop when levelling out. My previous D-Max used to ping all the time when reversing into my driveway as it would pick up the brick side wall of my house. You can ask Toyota if and when you get your next service done there and see what they say. I don't think there's much else apart from keeping the sensors clean and occasionally shoot some WD-40 to push any water out. Water ingress can affect how they operate. Found this video that demonstrates how to test your sensors. Pretty cool vid.
  13. I was thinking the same thing earlier, but assumed the OP did try this. These sensors are strange little buggers that's for sure Bertil.
  14. Haha, What a nice way to welcome in the new year !
  15. Hey C. There isn't a specific forum for such a request, but you can put the word out here, which you've already done, or go to General Toyota & Other Car Discussions and post there so people outside the sub forums can also see your request. I don't live in Queensland so I can't offer any but there are plenty other guys up your way that will hopefully chime in soon.
  16. I also use Prime. At $6.99 per month it's pretty good value if you're like me who shops online a fair bit. Amazon isn't a bad place to shop. They just need to improve their packaging a bit more.
  17. Hi Chris. Does it have front sensors and if so, does the buzzer chime on frontal situations ? If yes, then it's not the chime. Could be a dicky rear sensor/s. Also check the molex connector for connection issues. Dirt can foul the signal. My Aurion has sensors both front and rear and I dare say that it may share the same system as the Kluger. Sometimes the rear works and sometimes it doesn't. I put it down to possibly the quality of the sensors because I've checked everything and found no issues. It's not the best system to be honest. My wife used to rely on the stupid thing before she backed into the corner of our house and scuffed the rear bumper. Made me mad, and so I told her to rely on the camera and use the mirrors a bit more. All this technology is dumbing our senses and making us worse drivers. Back in the day, I would park my XD Falcon on a dime as they say, and that had no power steering, no parking assist rubbish, nothing. Look at us now lol.
  18. Ashley (Campbeam) has a 40 series Prodigy. I wonder if they also share the electronic boot release mech too.
  19. Don't' despair Matt. I hope they didn't charge you at Toyota if it didn't fix it. I'd wait and see what the transmission "Specialist" has to say before doing anything drastic like trade the car in. The U660E is a very good transmission and issues are very rare. You have a small bug in it somewhere and hopefully the transmission people can figure it out. I need to go back and reread the thread, so forgive me if this has already been covered, but, does it flare under hard acceleration too or only on light throttle application ??
  20. That looks like the warranty coverage for the U.S. They have Lemon Laws there so I suspect the extended warranty on drivetrain reflects this. Dealerships here are a bit more teflon coated thanks to the Govt's lack of empathy for the consumer hence the bare minimum warranty we'd get compared to the U.S.
  21. Well done Luke. Good catch. Was delivery extra though ? I'm guessing it was from an overseas vendor. The one thing that bugs me about Amazon is that you get no details on the seller really, am I wrong ? There's no way to query something as if they hide under Amazon's coat tails, unlike Ebay. You can pretty much drill right down into an item. By the way, i'm detecting a little OCD there with your display
