  1. What I usually try and do is get as much info from Toyota first to then be able to compare, especially is you can get photos. Take a close look at your rubber seals and you can usually make an educated guess if they look the same. If they advertise these to fit models between 2007-2014 then it's highly unlikely they won't fit. The reviews seem to indicate happy customers. Have you checked availability and price from a local Toyota dealer ? It's probably getting close to $100 for the Banggood product with delivery and GST so probably worthwhile seeking help from Toyota first. Let us know how you go. All the Best
  2. You really need to know what your doing if you want to mess around with modern engines. Good info there from Ian. If you're not careful you can go down that rabbit hole, spend tonnes of money and get little gain. I think money well spent asd the others have mentioned would be on the suspension, wheel/tyre dept and perhaps a free flowing exhaust. A car like the Yaris, Echo would be great fun on the twisty roads when set up nicely.
  3. Hi Suzy and welcome to the forum ! It's rare we get to see pics on a first post so well done. I love being able to share images of anything of interest and it's great you did. Looks like you've got it all covered there in your recreational vehicle. Good to see you out and enjoying life during these difficult times. I remember when those Tarago's came out, i think it was '83 when the first of these surfaced. It was a nice shape for the day and has aged pretty well considering. Just don't go too fast around corners as they are notorious for tipping, not that you'd drive like that anyway. Just saying. How long have you had this one ? The factory alloys look nice too.
  4. It shouldn't. There should be a stitched "flap" section by memory.
  5. If you have access to a polishing machine and some auto cutting polish, they can be salvaged. Then they need to be sealed with a protectant so they don't oxidize in a hurry again. Have a read of this
  6. Hi Aido, I'm not sure what you're expecting to gain from a humble little 1.5lt engine. If you need more power I'd get something larger because you'll start going down a rabbit hole for a measly few horsepowers which you probably won't even notice. If you want instant gratification and accept the risk that comes with it, whack a great big turbo on it and it will fly until it explodes. Get what I'm saying ? Not sure what else to say to be honest. Have fun with it but don't waste too much on it.
  7. Don't feel too bad mate. As long as you have protection layer on the paint it should be fine. I know what you mean though, seeing it dirty and not being able to keep it clean always. My biggest bug bear. Spend most of the day Saturday only to have it rain either Sunday or the following days and having to go back to square one. If it's only dust and not road grime, I usually get away with a snow foam and pressure wash rinse and then towel dry, it comes good again. Enjoy your time off and have fun with your little projects.
  8. Definitely pays to shop around I totally agree. I enjoy the thrill of the chase especially when I land what I want/need. That steering wheel looks nice but not sure about the quality to be honest. It may be ok, and then again it may be rubbish after 12 months. Hard to say without a review.
  9. Here's some pics from my last car wash therapy session. The pics illustrate the "blooming" residue removed during the tyre/wheel cleaning.
  10. Another quick update to report that the ceramic coating is still holding up very well despite continuous use. I have given the wheel a wipe with a warm, water soaked, microfibre cloth and it still retains its slick feeling. Your hands don't get clammy while driving, which is quite nice actually.
  11. You can also buy one of these if you ever decide to buy the rolling washer kit like mine to use with your Karcher Robert. More than one way to skin the cat, I always say 😜
  12. I'd ask the question as to when the clutch fluid was last replaced. Low Kays don't really mean much as clutch and brake fluid is hygroscopic regardless of KLMS. It should be replaced every two years or less. It's also possible you may be leaking fluid and not not getting enough hydraulic actuation from the slave cylinder. I'd book it in for a service as soon as possible. Let us know what they find. Cheers
  13. Hi Russell and welcome to the forum. I feel your pain but it's difficult to diagnose with very limited history of your vehicle. Too many variables to be able to make a definitive diagnosis. You know your car better than anyone, so I'd start with the basics first. Do you have a scanner ? I think everybody should have one these days because after all, all modern cars are very technically operated and having a code or codes is usually a good starting point. Let us know how you get on. All the best
  14. I got a quote of $600 to reupholster a steering wheel for my Aurion and thought, Naah.. I was able to patiently search out ebay for one off a 2017 Presara for much much less. The idea is to get one off a low kay car as possible, this way the wheel has less handling wear and tear on it. I was lucky in the one I got was off a car with less than 60K on the ODO so it was a keeper. If you know what I'm talking about, take a look at a steering wheel from a taxi or a high mileage car. Shiny, no textured smooth look ? That's a worn steering wheel. After a good clean, I ceramic coated it and put it away as a spare. Some of you may remember that thread.
  15. I don't know how I missed this. Actually it's not the tyre shine product that contributes to "browning" of the tyre. It's the tyre itself which bleeds what is called "antizonant", a chemical that's in the rubber to prevent rotting of the rubber. The effect is known as "blooming" and you can almost never get rid of this during the life of the tyre as it will continue to bleed out as the tyre ages. Admittedly, the use of wheel/tyre cleaners can accelerate the rate of blooming, which is why some dilute their wheel cleaners 4:1 and sometimes 7:1. You can only hide it with the use of tyre shine. It doesn't bother me all that much to be honest. When the car is due for a wash, the tyres will also be cleaned so this kind of resets the process anyway with a fresh application of tyre shine. Here's a link I found that also explains this . https://meguiarsonline.com/forums/showthread.php?27366-Tires-turning-brown
  16. Thanks for the comments guys. I'm just staggered how cheap it is for the quality. I'd easily expect to pay at least $100 for the system. To do an effective clean of the underside, you need to use some type of cleaner. If you could spare it, wheel cleaner (non acidic) would be the best as it has excellent cleaning power not only dissolving road grime, but aids in degreasing and other contamination. I have been using the P&S Brake buster to clean my wheels/tyres and found it to be an excellent product for the money so I've added this one to my kit. I still have and use Nextzett, but I use this for the most stubborn wheels, especially when it comes to doing the inner barrels. If you don't want to use wheel cleaner, you can always dispense some cleaning agents mixed in with your foam cannon. Mix 1:10 snow foam and leave some room for a neat addition of GCP in the solution, say 50ml full strength. Spray it on and let it dwell for around 10 minutes give or take. This can also help loosen up the road grime. The combinations are endless. Just try what you have and see I guess. Cheers everyone
  17. Thee seems to be plenty of price gouging going on these days. If you get quoted a ridiculous price for anything, just walk away. This should hopefully send a signal to the greed mongers among us.
  18. For a bit of extra noise, I would definitely agree. For a performance gain, even more so.
  19. Hi Gents, For those of you who have tried to pressure wash your undercarriage, it can be a royal pain in the you know where.. I've been meaning to get one of these for ages and finally got around to. Simply hook it to your pressure washer and let the mini boom do the work. It connects via 1/4" quick connects so you'd need to get the appropriate adapter for your machine. Consumer grade machines, like Karcher, gerni etc have proprietary connectors but you can buy the adapters that adapt the machines fitting to quick connect. Very cheap and handy. It's quite a decent quality item, made from stainless steel and brass with rigid rubber wheels. I'm pretty impressed for what you get being only $45. I've done a complete trigger gun and lance upgrade on my Kranzle machine and this new rig will complement this. I'll do a write up on the Kranzle upgrade soon. But for now this is the item The last picture shows the angle adjuster, so you can have the jets pointing straight up or any angle you choose. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/15-5-Dual-FunctionHigh-Pressure-Car-Under-Washer-Surface-Cleaner-Carriage-NEW/203208053758?_trkparms=aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131231084308%26meid%3D97540dabb80c49ad8050b4a8f6aad770%26pid%3D100010%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D373363068802%26itm%3D203208053758%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2047675%26algv%3DDefaultOrganicWithAblationExplorer%26brand%3DUnbranded&_trksid=p2047675.c100010.m2109
  20. Tricky one when it comes to techy questions. Unless others have a RAV 4 of the same year model, I'd take a look in your user manual and see if you can find some info in there. Modern cars tend to have pretty elaborate booklets for the head units.
  21. Hi Katrina and welcome to the friendliest Toyota Forum. Congrats on the new vehicle too. Hope it gives you many years of trouble free motoring. if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. Cheers
  22. I'm sorry to hear this mate. Did you buy private or yard ? I have heard the 100 series suffered from transmission issues, both converter and transmission itself. It's difficult to say what it could be, even with those codes. Get a few opinions before you hand over any cash. If you have any warranty, get onto them immediately. Check to see if there was a Toyota technical service bulletin for these transmissions too. Hope it works out for you mate. There's nothing worse than a cranky missus... All the best
  23. If there's no paint code reference on the I.D. plate then you could try your local paint shop supplier. They will most likely have the info you need. You probably ain't the first person to ask about this so they may have it on file. Alternatively, if you need paint for a touch up, they can match the colour perfectly with a spectrophotometer and you can have the colour you need in no time.
  24. I suspect this feature may only be available on higher trim level cars. My 2012 Prodigy has this but the ATX of the period doesn't. I think later ATX's were upgraded with more functionality. I'd have to check this though. I'd think this would also apply to the Kluger too. The central locking control is right there anyway on your door trim, make it a habit before you set off to lock the doors as you would putting your seatbelt on. I do this in my Colorado as it too doesn't have auto door locking.
  25. Yep, I agree. Total overkill for an Aurion. They are more for performance cars than a family sedan. Aurions handle like crap to really appreciate tyres like that. I like the idea of the rear sway bar though. You've inspired me to look into this now.
