  1. Good to hear mate. Looks like they followed the correct procedure because if they hadn't, it would've protested by now. Can I ask why they used Lubegard ? Were you having shift issues or something ?
  2. Man, I can't hear anything. Dash noises are a royal PITA ! I've had to deal with several of these on a 2017 D-Max. Build quality is questionable on the older Gen cars. If It's possible to try and make another recording, I'd love to help if I can.
  3. If there ever was a case for aftermarket parts, then I'd happily support those who make rubbers for cars because when the dealers make them obsolete and used parts are total crap, then these guys come to the rescue. The problem here a lot of people aren't aware of how to properly care for rubber. Using certain rubber protectants from the beginning, those same rubber components would almost never need replacing for any reason other than abuse or accident damage. Keep the rubbers nourished and protected, they will last the lifetime of the car.
  4. If I recall that model was carbureted. If so, sounds like it could need a carb service or the fuel pump is starting to go bad. I assume you have the maintenance up to date, otherwise it could be something as simple as a dirty fuel filter. Try not filling the tank when it's close to empty as the crud in the bottom of the tank gets picked up and it contaminates everything. Try and fill up each time when it reaches quarter left on the gauge. You can remove the tank to inspect and clean to rid this issue. Hope that helps. Cheers
  5. Hi Gary, What you're looking for is Butyl Mastic. It comes in tube form or in a roll. Take a look online for Butyl tape. This one is the tube version.
  6. I doubt it. It's not a major modification but wouldn't hurt to ask Toyota directly. I assume you still have your car serviced there.
  7. Excellent video Ash. She was fearless on the track. That competition didn't stand a chance ! That's why she was "The Queen of The Nurburgring"
  8. She definitely deserves high praise and recognition. What a terrible loss. A beautiful soul. I vividly remember her pushing that Transit van along with Hammond. It was hilarious watching her overtaking motorcycles hahaha !! Clarkson trying in vain to get that diesel powered Jag around there in under 10 seconds and along comes Sabine with the famous line...."I can do Zat lap time in a Van" !! She almost did all things considered. Only a few seconds off, but a mighty effort anyway !
  9. Hello Ladies and Gents, I was saddened this morning to learn of the passing of "The Queen of The Nurburgring" Sabine Schmitz. She mesmerized me for many years with her amazing ability to handle a car at high speed and her beautiful way in which she conducted herself. I always thought she was like the female version of Michael Schumacher. She featured on many TV shows, driving events and most notably on a few episodes of Top Gear with Clarkson, May and Hammond. Some great memories of her. In the last couple of years she battled cancer and unfortunately, the dreaded thing returned and ultimately claimed her life. I couldn't believe it at first and really hoped she'd pull through. I hope they keep her memory alive by naming her favourite corner at the ring after her. My condolences go out to her Family, Friends and Fans alike and may she rest in peace. 🙏 Sabine.webp
  10. Hi Laurie, what a lovely introduction and welcome to the forum. You obviously have your head in the right place owning Toyota's and your heart definitely where it should be. Your passion for art and the great outdoors. I rode through the Victorian high country back in '97 on my way back from Phillip Island. I rode down with a friend on our bikes and on the way back to Sydney, we decided to cut through the heart of the Victorian country. I have photos here somewhere. If I dig them out, I'll certainly post them here for you. Prior to this we spent a couple of days on the Great Ocean Rd and spent the night in Torquay after visiting The Twelve Apostles near Port Campbell. Had fish 'n' chips at Apollo Bay. What a beautiful part of the world. I wish we had helmet cams back then. It only exists in my memory now and some photos. I'd love to go riding again someday. I miss being in the wind. I hope you enjoy your stay here Laurie. By for now.
  11. If that is what they base their reason for approving a claim then I'm staggered. The dash board should not melt regardless of condition of the vehicle. It was designed for outdoor use lol, not to park in in your living room. So are you saying there is consideration to have yours replaced ? I was under the impression this had wrapped up already.
  12. I think 7K would be for a pretty clean example. Not trying to offend the OP, but his car is a little rough. I'd put it in the region of around 2-3K.
  13. I'm the polar opposite lol. I don't facebook, but when I have a look occasionally, I'm lost.
  14. Generally not, but you should still have all the mounts checked just in case. You just never know with these things.
  15. Glad to hear everything went well. You can feel more confident in the car now not having to worry about those major items. Just continue to check and maintain it and it will serve you very well for a long time. Cheers
  16. Hi Miriana. If your question relates to your Aurion, we have an Aurion section where you can post directly into. Click on the top of the page "Forums" and scroll down to Aurion/TRD Aurion club and there we will all be. It's a great forum here where we all intermingle regardless of model. Your question is a very good one actually. Here's the thread you're looking for.
  17. OMG !! Is that a hole in the piston ??? Man, 16K for a new donk. Ouchy !! Good to see woolworths came through for you. You just never know with those damn petrol stations and th the quality of fuel you're getting. Looks like you probably filled up from the dregs of the tank. There always seem to be a layer of sludgy/watery crud in the bottom foot or so of the tanks. Why they don't inspect and clean them out regularly is beyond me. I wonder how many others before and after you came forward too ?? There has to be quite a few. Do you know of any others who filled up from that same crud station ? Can you name the outlet or did you have to sign a waiver ??
  18. I'd get the engine mounts inspected before anything else.
  19. Hi Mal. If you can find out who manufactured it, you could reach out to them possibly. I'm sure they'd be able to help. Are there any identifiable marks you could draw from ? btw, the interior light is patched into your car's door light. You just need to trace out that bit of the harness and patch it in.
  20. I totally agree. Error codes are a basic guide most of the time. Other times, what you see is not what you get and it can lead to some crazy shot gunning of parts. What I would do, is read the code and what it says about it and then go off and inspect everything else connected to it. For example. You may get a code for an O2 sensor, then you go off and replace it at very considerable expense, only to have the sensor error code flash up again then realise it was a bad catalytic converter. This is the sort of thing that can happen. You have to think more laterally with the blinkers off when diagnosing modern cars. YouTube video can also be a great help too.
  21. Probably want to inspect the engine mounts. If they are worn, they will amplify the engine harmonics directly to the chassis.
  22. For a minute there I thought I had to bin my oil stash and start again The new standard, it seems, has been developed for the ever growing reliance on turbocharging engines in order to meet the latest efficiency standards. Normally aspirated engines are still ok to use the GF-5 standard. Turbo charged engines are suffering from this: "low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI) and timing chain wear"
  23. Free of cost ? That ship has sailed unfortunately. Just do the dash mat thing.
  24. Your head unit should hold the memory for a period of time for the purposes of replacing your car battery, but for how long I'm not sure. For the time it takes to swap out a battery it is negligible and it shouldn't wipe the presets. How long was the car without power ? Anywhere in the metro area should be ok. I haven't tried outside of this area myself. I also wonder how DAB gets on too. Did the MY14 get DAB ??
  25. I get what your saying. As the factory will never provide us with a torque wrench, the proportionally lengthed tyre iron will provide an adequate amount of torque. Just don't go Ape with it lol. It would be interesting to test how close one could get to the torque spec using a tyre iron though. If you do enough of this, I think it would be an even match.
