  8. No need to make it sound like I was the one giving sh!tt advice. I was simply performing the procedure as per the service manual written by Toyota. I started removing the intake manifold prior to removing the windscreen cowl etc, and then reached a point where I couldn't access the last bolt. At that point, I removed the cowl etc and continued along my merry way not intending on looking for an alternative way because I already had the gaskets. That's great you found a way around it but no need to make a massive fuss about it and make it seem like the information provided here is useless. Write up your own guide with photos and post it here and I'll post it as a guide. Simple.

  10. We're talking about 2 cars our of how many? Not to mention the 2GR-FE is used in other cars as well. I wouldn't really start to be getting concerned about all this.
  11. I don't know about the Corolla, but I wouldn't be surprised if two of your questions are already answered simply by lifting your bonnet. The Aurion, built a year before your car has two stickers on the bonnet, one says how much refrigerant is needed for the A/C system, the other says when the initial change for the coolant is. In terms of age of coolant, just stick with what Toyota use. So for the Corolla, that's 10,000km per 6 months. So if your coolant is due at say 80,000km, then treat that as 4 years.
  12. I'd probably take that over the new design Aurion if I had to pick between the two. On a side note, dual projectors... so I wonder why they get LED headlights and we don't for some of our Toyota's here. On that note, I was following a Prius last night which had LED headlights and they certainly look cleaner than HID in my opinion.

  15. Man, the a55 end of the Sportivo looks so sh**. It looks like a combination of trying to look like a HSV and like a riced up base model. This is the perfect case where less is more. Overseas model or not, I highly doubt the key design features are going to vary by much. I'm fairly sure the Australian model will look pretty close to that. As for the whole FWD vs others argument. We don't need any more of that sh** here. If you want to go justify the purpose of buying one of these cars, do that elsewhere. Not everyone races their car. A large percentage of people who drive these cars wouldn't even know the difference between how they drive if you were to ask them.
  16. That is considered "normal" in the general sense. There is indeed a bulb located under there that lights up gear shifter gate. It sits very close to the surface of the gear shifter assembly and surprisingly manages to heat it up a bit. It is a T5 bulb so you can replace it with any T5 LED bulb replacement if you would like to rectify the issue.
  17. First video I can't hear anything out of the ordinary. Particular sounds can be hard to notice though when recorded, especially when you haven't heard them before, so I can't hear what exactly you were referring to in this one. Second video.... still can't hear anything out of the ordinary. It does sound a little louder than typical, but I have noticed that these engines tend to make a little more noise the older they get. My TRD definitely has that engine noise a little more than it did when I first got it... and that with changing to a slightly thicker oil (0W-40 vs 5W-30). I definitely wouldn't say it is out of the ordinary, but maybe it might be wise just in case to have it checked by someone who is more mechanically minded. Think that sounds bad though. Pop the hood of a newer generation Mazda and have a listen. Those things sound bad. Also, when the VVT-i controller starts to fail, it is typically only during engine startup. It's the locking pin that is the common point of failure and is noticeable due to lack of oil pressure in the controller during start-up. They can fail in other ways though, but that's the most common one with these cars.

  19. If it's only $300, then why not I guess. If you like the wheels, then go for it. Not too much you can get out there for that much (without keeping a sharp eye out) so if it makes you feel good, then good then. I don't get the part where you mention "so basically i'm getting $150-$200 for my 4x 15" alloys." though.

  21. I'm referring to the epic axle tramp that these cars possess. Even with some rather grippy tires and the sticky surface of a drag strip, 2100RPM was really starting to push it with my old Sportivo.
  22. Damn that is a bargain. I hope it sells quick for you. Even though the market is quite quiet at the moment, surely someone has to be keen on a TRD for that price.
