    In the past I have ziptied an old mobile phone with the voice record function near components that I thought may have been an issue. Worked quite well. Realistically anything that compresses or extends could be making the issue. I think you are on the right track looking for a dry bushing, from the minimal sound that I could hear. Also consider lower control arm bushings as well.

    I think 20+ years is reasonable reliability. If it isn't faulty, it is a waste of time and money replacing it.

    There is a place on the Sunshine Coast that makes big power off a decent ECU. I believe their name is Just Autos, not sure how close you are.

    I thought I replied to this. Here is my reply, luckily my phone saved it: Generally, no. The autos often run a 4 plug ECU, whereas the manuals run a 3 plug.

    Should be the middle one on the dash support bar. Should have 6 pins as per the Toyota Electrical Wiring Diagram manual.
